Something a lot of people seem to not understand is that you have different types of banned cards. You have cards that were too unfair, cards that were too strong, and cards that were just too splashable. the second and third category are all cards that could come of at any point and they wouldnt break the game, but some of them can make an impact and see heavy play. good example is pot of greed vs graceful charity; pot is not banned because of how strong or broken it is, but rather how needed it would be, there is 0 reasons to not play 1 2 or 3 depending on how many of it is legal as it is just pure advantage and playing with smaller deck. Graceful on the other hand even though neutral, sets up way more beacuse you get some GY set up with it, which opens much more unfair options
Those cards aren't good to thrust for though. PoG is just worse talents, Mirage of Nightmare, as explained in the video, isn't actually even a good card in today's metagame unless you made a whole deck around it which is unlikely with only 1, Duo is not a good enough card to play after turn 1, trap dustshoot is just worse appointer, snatch steal isn't so much better than mind control that it's actually a problem, searching Grass with Thrust basically does nothing, and the rest of the cards just aren't good and are just limited because they could theoretically be annoying in a dedicated deck, even if that deck wouldn't be good.

Most playable but not that common or meta, and for a potential of making your opponent start with 4 cards (minus any handtrap they tried to activate on your turn) it is definitely a risk worth taking

Verte was in almost every deck before so I dont get where did he get "no one plays it" from, but Verte needs an errata to lock his summoning conditoin to 2 mosnters including 1 predaplant monster, so if you want to run him you need to run some maindeck space as well
I mean Thrust seaching Talents is going to be better most of the time. Talents is objectively better Pot of Greed to search and is still arguably better than Duo.
It's insane to me that nobody has tried to break Elma in one of these tournaments. The precise deck would need a bit of tuning, but there's absolutely no way that you can't break that card.
@@SAKKI14 My _gut instinct_ is running infernoble knights + RML ftk, using a small world bridge with ash (any infernoble -> ash -> RML), use one of the lvl 1 infernobles to go into relinquished anima into selene (which will get RML from hand if you can get it there either from small world or something else), normal Isolde stuff, Charles as a backup for Gearfried. I think there's some potential here. Worst case scenario, if the FTK falls apart you still have a bad version of infernoble to fall back on. Which will be better than a lot of other FTK decks' fail cases. But you need some fine-tuning.

If Konami wants to keep stuff like EEV and D Barrier legal, Red Reboot needs to come back. Because as it stands there’s no counterplay to Labrynth flipping either of those when you go second since they’re both chainable to backrow removal and both have lingering effects. With Labrynth being projected as one of the best decks next format, it’s either time for Reboot to come back so we can have some form of counterplay or a lot more floodgates need to get removed from the game
Funny thing about red reboot. Trap players always complain that red reboot is busted because it floodgates them out of playing when their whole strategy is to just floodgate your opponent out of playing
Dont think of Red Reboot as a floodgate. Floodgates have meaningful outs. Think of Red Reboot as the spell version of Maxx "C" or Mystic Mine. Its a card that says "draw the out or you instantly lose". And worse yet, theres only actually ONE out compared to Maxx C or Mytic Mine having multiple. Red Reboot is busted because if you dont draw the out you lose, and every card that says "draw the out or lose" should be banned.

In no banlist tournaments zoo tops a lot with delinquent duo. So its a pretty rough card especially if you side it in going first against a non gy deck
Already thinking about someone sitting on a baron, some other negation, an ash, and they delinquent duo me. A four card turn against 2-3 negates…luckily i main board deal ruler says no. I think we can reasonably assume the opponent is going to be able to put up 2 negates, if they start with some tutors. That being said, it would be funny if they made it legal just for the chance an ishizu card gets pitched. Worst case, someone opens shifter, and then pops delinquent. Now that would be annoying

Then ban the floodgates? Bringing back toxic stuff to combat toxic stuff just makes the game overall more toxic. I know the point of the video is to unban stuff an not ban it but I think banning floodgates while keeping extremely powerful backrow hate out is a much better solution. (Evenly and Harpie's is fine though)

Phantom sky blaster summoned after 1 other monster is a free link-4 summon from the extra deck, allowing you to turbo out any powerful link-4 that accepts tokens as materials, turn 1. Summon skyblaster after 2 monsters and you've got an instant link-5 if possible or at least a co-linked link-3 and link-2.
"Exodia is at 1 piece each for lore reasons" No, the most broken format in Yu-Gi-Oh's history was within roughly a year or two into the game when Exodia Solitare FTK was the only deck winning everything where every duel was quite literally decided by a coin flip. Sure it's less powerful now with hand traps, but even so that's still very breakable. Maybe each piece to two. at least then it's consistent enough to be more viable, but can still lead to ultra brick hands. Though even that might be super breakable.
The exodia pieces are the worst bricks in an exodia deck, if you open 3 lefr legs and 2 right arms what exactly are you doing? Exodia decks tend to want to draw the deck as opposed to running more pieces
@@winter945 If you have multiple pieces then that changes how you structure the deck. Rather than focusing on just drawing the idea is the focus more on recycling. There are so many self mil cards these days that if you fill more of your deck with pieces then you can send more to the grave and add to hand. Back in the old days this was how Exodia decks won so consistently, just dump then add to hand. We may not have cards like Painful Choice or looping Sangan anymore but modern formats have plenty of ways to mill and cycle these cards that anyone could figure out a very breakable strategy, especially with then other tools on this list legal.
Giant Trunade and heavy storm could be adapted to by decks like labrynth, simply by them running a particular field spell that prevents the destruction/removal of set spell/trap cards that share a column with a monster, meaning under this effect lady and lovely labrynth could keep 2 set normal trap cards alive meaning they could still refill your field without bother from these cards even if they were at 3.
Nobody, not even MBT, has noticed that he's un-hit quite a critical mass of deep draw cards, _as well as all the Exodia pieces._ Every separate deep draw card he says "I don't think deep draw is particularly good with _this_ un-hit" without considering just how many different deep draw cards he un-hit, as well as the _two_ payoffs he un-hit in Magical Explosion and all 5 Exodia pieces. Deep Draw un-hits with this list: to 3: Exodia, Magical Explosion, Jackalope and Tsuchinoko (time to make Dante?), Card of Demise, Into the Void, One Day of Peace, Upstart Goblin, arguably Spellbook of Judgement (and maybe Instant Fusion?) to 1: Chicken Game (Pseudo Space is at 3), Mirage of Nightmare, Pot of Greed, Sixth Sense and of course the Bamboo Swords, Royal Magical Library, and Blasting the Ruins are already at 3.
Usually I'd say that putting all the pieces to 3 wouldn't change anything because "why would you run more than 1?" then I really thought about it and it actually opens up a lot for additional Exodia strategies. The main one that comes to mind is fitting room Exodia. You play 3 of each piece, 1 head, and use fitting room to flood the board with pieces. From there you can use deep draw tools. Make Saryuja. You could even run a small 3-Axis with Terrortop + Taketom to make Cherubini and send head.
@@tehy123 Garnets don't exist in Deep Draw mate. The definition of a Garnet is a searchable card you want in the main deck that you don't want to draw into. Deep Draw has no searching, it strictly draws the _entire deck._ If you meant the possibility of running out of draws by drawing too many non-draw cards, that's Bricking, not Garnets.

Exodia is almost always a worse payoff for deep draw than the alternatives (including magical explosion). Having to play 5 bricks just gums your deck up.
Bamboo only prevents activations of S/T, not S/T effects. Labrynth for example could banish 1 Big Welcome to easily bounce bamboo shoot to hand. That's why it isn't played in Naturia Runick and they prefer Nat Beast instead. With the quickplay it would have been very easy to tribute summon.
I mean some of them yes, but the game is 20+ years old and konami still hasnt learnt how to balance cards, but honestly they dont care since it gives them money
I don't think that the "one of" spells/ traps will be that good if siding going first(except the backrow removal against trap decks). Reason is is that there so much targeted "hate cards" in this game that if for example im playing against SwoSoul or Branded im not gonna side in bunch of "one ofs" that MIGHT win me the game. I'm gonna side in D-barrier because its at three and it WILL win me the game going first.
13:55 I feel like there 3 types of boss monsters in the modern We got the negate boss the disruption boss(QE BoM or bounce) and the battle boss that helps you close out the game
also bosses that are really hard to get rid of. I wonder how Lady Labrynth or Eldlich would be classified since they do pretty unique stuff. Is resource generation a type of boss? Heatsoul also falls into that category.

The thing about Giant Trunade coming back is that we already have a version of the card that essentially does the same thing: “Hey, Trunade!”. It’s at 3, and against most backrow decks it essentially will work the exact same as Giant would. Is it broken? No. Is it even played? No.
Unlinke Giant Trunade, Hey Trunade can't out floodgates. Considering how most if not all backrow decks rely on some form of floodgate to slow the game down, that makes a massive difference.
Now a days IB can be a free Barronne De Flur, same with Denglong, actually there is a Master Duels combo that involves Denglong and ends on Barronne De Flur plus some other negates and a floodgate, nasty combo decks, and also The Chicken Game plus Pot of Greed and three of every Exodia piece can make a really strong and consistent FTK, I honestly would have unbanned Maxx "C" over Protos, cause you can play around it easier than Protos, and Broadbull over IB, cause Zoo is gonna be a go first or bust deck.
IB (then Denglong) are to me the best extender extra deck monsters ever created. Broadbull wasn't broken for just Zoo, non-opt double BW search allowed him to break r4nk toolbox, mainly abusing almost infinite revivals for lunalight raidraptor pk rank 4 spam decks.
I’m honestly under the belief that no one knows why Emerald was banned, it’s either because of Zoo format of some World Chalice FTK and no one can make up their mind. At this point I’m believing that Konami banned it ‘cause it looks funny
i want farfa to make a completely new banlist maybe with a follow up tournament with that list free content. there would also be the challenge to make it as small as possible by banning the real problem cards instead of the cards around it.
Depends how you define problem cards. Are problem cards the ones that do dumb shit like floodgates? Or does it include key enablers for archetypes like Kitkallos and Block Dragon. Because I'd rather have a larger banlist where cards are hit to balance key enablers, instead of banning them and killing off a deck.
I see that my prediction was quite on point except agreeing with adventure prank, but lets be honest everyone expected way more from that deck, I guess Meow to 1 is completely fine and theyll be playable when they get more copies of it
My problem with MBT's list is a lot of the excuses he uses is "It's fine in MD". Like, my man, MD almost completely uses the OCG banlist and is a Bo1 format.
Verte to 1 would make predaplants mildly playable again. Problem is it’s so exploitable by so many other decks. They should’ve made it just require predaplants or cards with predator counters on them. Edit: 1 for 1 at three would be 3 for 3 which is the same ratio.
+1 on that Verte take. I hate it, when archetype support designed to make a bad-ish deck playable, gets abused by other decks with way higher ceiling and ends up banned/limited. Thank god I got my boi Jetsynchron back... It took way too fucking long.

I don't think you have read Misc. It only protects Dinosaur monsters on the field and only during that Main Phase. Ghost Belle, Droll and Ash kills their turn at Scrap Wyvern (not a Dinosaur) if not sooner, leaving them on basically nothing. Ash Blossom kills their turn on the first Babycerasaurus (not a Dinosaur on the field), leaving them on nothing. Called By kills their turn at Misc (Banish + Negate), leaving them on nothing. Dimension Shifter kills their turn immediately. Nibiru kills their turn leaving them on nothing. Misc at 3 is fine, as the OCG proves.

Protos is not an inherent part of swordsoul engine, its just a board breaker/floodgate tool available to the deck. It's completely different from wind barrier that floo could pull off with ease mid combo like nothing.
@@SSthiagowxD protos should always be prioritised though, especially in matchups where calling light/dark/earth/water/fire is strong, as you can call any of these without even going for a lv 10 synchro, you'll often have both anyway though, so any attribute can be called Idk what master duel players are doing but not focusing on your best card seems really weird

Any time a draw card is brough back or made, exodia decks grin maliciously. Until thier opponent uses Droll & Lock

You would only need the 1 eclipse wyvern, banish it for Collapserpent or Chaos Valkyrie and cycle it with a Nemeses

I know the point of the video is to unban stuff an not ban it but I think banning floodgates while keeping extremely powerful backrow hate out is a much better solution. (Evenly and Harpie's is fine though)

Phantom sky blaster summoned after 1 other monster is a free link-4 summon from the extra deck, allowing you to turbo out any powerful link-4 that accepts tokens as materials, turn 1. Summon skyblaster after 2 monsters and you've got an instant link-5 if possible or at least a co-linked link-3 and link-2.

No, the most broken format in Yu-Gi-Oh's history was within roughly a year or two into the game when Exodia Solitare FTK was the only deck winning everything where every duel was quite literally decided by a coin flip. Sure it's less powerful now with hand traps, but even so that's still very breakable.
Maybe each piece to two. at least then it's consistent enough to be more viable, but can still lead to ultra brick hands. Though even that might be super breakable.
The exodia pieces are the worst bricks in an exodia deck, if you open 3 lefr legs and 2 right arms what exactly are you doing? Exodia decks tend to want to draw the deck as opposed to running more pieces
@@winter945 If you have multiple pieces then that changes how you structure the deck. Rather than focusing on just drawing the idea is the focus more on recycling. There are so many self mil cards these days that if you fill more of your deck with pieces then you can send more to the grave and add to hand. Back in the old days this was how Exodia decks won so consistently, just dump then add to hand. We may not have cards like Painful Choice or looping Sangan anymore but modern formats have plenty of ways to mill and cycle these cards that anyone could figure out a very breakable strategy, especially with then other tools on this list legal.

Giant Trunade and heavy storm could be adapted to by decks like labrynth, simply by them running a particular field spell that prevents the destruction/removal of set spell/trap cards that share a column with a monster, meaning under this effect lady and lovely labrynth could keep 2 set normal trap cards alive meaning they could still refill your field without bother from these cards even if they were at 3.

I mostly agree that the limited cards could go to multiples theoretically but people don't see how much would be mixed and become broken.
Nobody, not even MBT, has noticed that he's un-hit quite a critical mass of deep draw cards, _as well as all the Exodia pieces._
Every separate deep draw card he says "I don't think deep draw is particularly good with _this_ un-hit" without considering just how many different deep draw cards he un-hit, as well as the _two_ payoffs he un-hit in Magical Explosion and all 5 Exodia pieces.
Deep Draw un-hits with this list:
to 3: Exodia, Magical Explosion, Jackalope and Tsuchinoko (time to make Dante?), Card of Demise, Into the Void, One Day of Peace, Upstart Goblin, arguably Spellbook of Judgement (and maybe Instant Fusion?)
to 1: Chicken Game (Pseudo Space is at 3), Mirage of Nightmare, Pot of Greed, Sixth Sense
and of course the Bamboo Swords, Royal Magical Library, and Blasting the Ruins are already at 3.
Usually I'd say that putting all the pieces to 3 wouldn't change anything because "why would you run more than 1?" then I really thought about it and it actually opens up a lot for additional Exodia strategies.
The main one that comes to mind is fitting room Exodia. You play 3 of each piece, 1 head, and use fitting room to flood the board with pieces. From there you can use deep draw tools. Make Saryuja. You could even run a small 3-Axis with Terrortop + Taketom to make Cherubini and send head.
That would involve playing a minimum of 13 garnets, hard to imagine that being broken

The definition of a Garnet is a searchable card you want in the main deck that you don't want to draw into.
Deep Draw has no searching, it strictly draws the _entire deck._
If you meant the possibility of running out of draws by drawing too many non-draw cards, that's Bricking, not Garnets.

Exodia is almost always a worse payoff for deep draw than the alternatives (including magical explosion).
Having to play 5 bricks just gums your deck up.

Bamboo only prevents activations of S/T, not S/T effects. Labrynth for example could banish 1 Big Welcome to easily bounce bamboo shoot to hand. That's why it isn't played in Naturia Runick and they prefer Nat Beast instead. With the quickplay it would have been very easy to tribute summon.

I don't think that the "one of" spells/ traps will be that good if siding going first(except the backrow removal against trap decks).
Reason is is that there so much targeted "hate cards" in this game that if for example im playing against SwoSoul or Branded im not gonna side in bunch of "one ofs" that MIGHT win me the game. I'm gonna side in D-barrier because its at three and it WILL win me the game going first.

The thing about Giant Trunade coming back is that we already have a version of the card that essentially does the same thing:
“Hey, Trunade!”.
It’s at 3, and against most backrow decks it essentially will work the exact same as Giant would.
Is it broken? No. Is it even played? No.
Do most people forget "Hey, Trunade!" exists? Yes.

Unlinke Giant Trunade, Hey Trunade can't out floodgates. Considering how most if not all backrow decks rely on some form of floodgate to slow the game down, that makes a massive difference.

Now a days IB can be a free Barronne De Flur, same with Denglong, actually there is a Master Duels combo that involves Denglong and ends on Barronne De Flur plus some other negates and a floodgate, nasty combo decks, and also The Chicken Game plus Pot of Greed and three of every Exodia piece can make a really strong and consistent FTK, I honestly would have unbanned Maxx "C" over Protos, cause you can play around it easier than Protos, and Broadbull over IB, cause Zoo is gonna be a go first or bust deck.
IB (then Denglong) are to me the best extender extra deck monsters ever created.
Broadbull wasn't broken for just Zoo, non-opt double BW search allowed him to break r4nk toolbox, mainly abusing almost infinite revivals for lunalight raidraptor pk rank 4 spam decks.

Depends how you define problem cards. Are problem cards the ones that do dumb shit like floodgates? Or does it include key enablers for archetypes like Kitkallos and Block Dragon.
Because I'd rather have a larger banlist where cards are hit to balance key enablers, instead of banning them and killing off a deck.

My problem with MBT's list is a lot of the excuses he uses is "It's fine in MD".
Like, my man, MD almost completely uses the OCG banlist and is a Bo1 format.
Verte to 1 would make predaplants mildly playable again. Problem is it’s so exploitable by so many other decks. They should’ve made it just require predaplants or cards with predator counters on them.
Edit: 1 for 1 at three would be 3 for 3 which is the same ratio.
+1 on that Verte take. I hate it, when archetype support designed to make a bad-ish deck playable, gets abused by other decks with way higher ceiling and ends up banned/limited. Thank god I got my boi Jetsynchron back... It took way too fucking long.

I don't think you have read Misc. It only protects Dinosaur monsters on the field and only during that Main Phase. Ghost Belle, Droll and Ash kills their turn at Scrap Wyvern (not a Dinosaur) if not sooner, leaving them on basically nothing. Ash Blossom kills their turn on the first Babycerasaurus (not a Dinosaur on the field), leaving them on nothing. Called By kills their turn at Misc (Banish + Negate), leaving them on nothing. Dimension Shifter kills their turn immediately. Nibiru kills their turn leaving them on nothing. Misc at 3 is fine, as the OCG proves.

Swordsoul has always been decently strong tbh. Also Master duel isnt a good comparison. Theres almost nothing similar between MD and TCG.

@@andrejv.2834 MD has community bo3 tourneys all the time, swordsoul rarely gets to play protos. Protos is not an inherent part of swordsoul engine, its just a board breaker/floodgate tool available to the deck. It's completely different from wind barrier that floo could pull off with ease mid combo like nothing.
@@SSthiagowxD protos should always be prioritised though, especially in matchups where calling light/dark/earth/water/fire is strong, as you can call any of these without even going for a lv 10 synchro, you'll often have both anyway though, so any attribute can be called
