- The Bad Batch was an awesome show. However, I have my critique of it on how I feel it could have been better, as well as explaining why I think it was so dragged out.

Definitely feel like you were to hard on the last episode it wasn’t stellar but it was solid. That being said I think crosshair is the most interesting character in the show and he and the empire should be a much larger focus in season two

Echo is the most misused character in this whole season. He had a deeper connection to most of the events they went through ESPECIALLY kamino yet they gave him nothing.
True, Echo and Crosshair were the most underused characters.They deserved more screentime and character arcs.Especially Echo in regards to seeing Rex again, hearing about Fives and witnessing the destruction of Tipoca City.
Remind me, how much did he even TALK in the finale? I almost forgot he was even there.
Well don't u know? They introduced Omega and had to make her the entire focus of the show...no time for anyone else, beside, he's a clone. They're all the same with absolutely no difference between them...(is what it feel like we're being told while seeing great story potential being passed up)

This show has achieved feature film quality animation in terms of it's visuals, sound design, and soundtrack. This show has it's issues, but by god it is a spectacle to watch and even with the weaker episodes this season, they were still amazing to look at.
The sid missions i didn't have a chance to look at much.. considering i fell asleep watching them
@@randomcontentguy2521 Sid missions were hit and miss but definitely some good episodes there, not every episode has to move the plot forward or be part of a grand story

I wouldn't say more than 6/16 of those episodes were necessary..
@@randomcontentguy2521 I got to say I disagree with Theory there. There’s a certain type of character development in the less plot driven episodes that you don’t get in the plot heavy ones. You build up certain aspects of the character in the Sid episodes, plot heavy episodes lead to big character moments, the way the character reacts has to be planted by the seeds of the ‘filler’. Even beyond that I don’t like calling them ‘plot light’. What’s wrong with a good self contained story in a serialised format? Too much media is trying to be the MCU. Things can by all means connect but personally I think it’s great to explore a universe in its run of the mill activities.

Dee Bradley Baker's voice acting is really good in this.
In everything lol but yes his work has been really impressive in this show, I love how he gives each BB member personality & makes them sound unique :)
I'm blown away by the fact that there are episodes where the voice cast consists of literally just him and Ang.
Did you know he records the scenes straight through jumping from one character to the next as the conversations progress. The exchanges between Hinter and Crosshair, the nuances of each voice- knowing he just goes straight through the scene blows me away

I’m excited for the second season, and I really hope we see how Rex tracks down Wolfe. But really, the one thing I really want to see is Rex and Cody meeting one last time after Order 66

With Wolffe, I wonder how his story panned out. His Jedi General was Plo Koon, who we saw executed in Revenge of the Sith, but not by Wolffe. So was he on a Venator during the mission or on the ground? More importantly, how did he go from being in the new empire, to with rex.
I personally didn’t like how a lot of the episodes were “We have to save them Hunta” “No it’s too dangerous” “Please hunta” “Fine” or another example being *Dangerous mission* “Okay omeega wait at the ship” “But I’m part of the squad” “If you are part of the squad then follow orders” Then omeega has to save the batch
And then the other half of the time, Omega risks everyone else's safety bc shes defenseless and a clutz. I really wish she would just die off or something. Get GOT'd

@@donutsacrifice2588 really thought she would've at least learned a lesson and have Crosshair only save her, letting EZ sink(metal robots sink fast) so that she might FINALLY learn "no, u can't save everybody"
The problem is the characters aren't getting stand-alone screentime or even better, episodes. It's like when your friend introduces you to three of his other friends and then leaves, leaving you alone with strangers, who are talking amidst themselves. Sure, after a while you might know what each individual is about, but you wouldn't really connect to any of them until you would talk with group members one on one. In the Bad batch, it would be great to get episodes where characters would have entire episodes for themselves and would be put in situations they are unsuited for. Maybe one mission goes sideways and Tech gets lost on a planet with electromagnetic disturbances and thus can't rely on his equipment, needing to learn to communicate with farmers and trust the words of strangers to escape before empire could get to him. Or maybe Echo gets arrested by the empire and is taken to the prison camp where separatist soldiers from the Clone Wars are still being held. As a former trooper of the republic, he would have a hard time working with them or even being in their presence, but eventually, he would realise that despite once being on the opposite sides, they are quite similar and together they would create a plan to escape. Those are all just ideas from the top of my head, but it is what Bad Batch desperately needs.

Honestly I wish we focused more on the Empire during the show, while the show is about the Bad Batch the Empire itself is like it’s own character and seeing the slow transition into the Galactic Civil War would have been great to see.
Hopefully that will be the case in season 2.
So many opportunities in that timeline, we could see also Maul at his prime, same with Vader + they could finally meet each other in the series.., Moff Tarkin being savage tactician, Coruscant slowly changes into Imperial Capital, damn seems to me like Filoni is being limited in ideas.

I think we will see more of the empire next episode. There really wasn't much to see of the empire beyond what we already got. And basically it was all clones until the end when the new storm troopers were being developed
I think next season will show more of that. This season was just set too early in the timeline for us to see the galactic civil war. They kinda already teased us that they will show it in the future as we saw the rex and the martez sisters worked to organize the rebellion. I think it will be just lije the mandalorian where the second season will be packed with action and we'll probably see some Jedis or maybe even Vader.

I will agree, Cid is defientively on the weaker aspects. I dont mind her character and I love the oerformance of her Voice actor, but just less.
In my opinion, they tried so hard to make a good bounty hunter tv-series with Mando and you can see they're doing a bit here with the bad batch, but it just doesn't work well. They should've made clone force 99 stay with the empire and then leaving the empire in the season finale because you can show more through imperial eyes than a bounty hunter's eyes.
Also, if disney really wanted a good bounty hunter show, then they should've done one with Cad bane, Jango fett, or Sugi, the female Zabrak that helped fight the pirates with Anakin. The seasons could just be set before or during clone wars up to the empire era. I get that disney doesn't want to do clone wars anymore, but that doesn't mean they should limit themselves from not doing anything in that era.
@@juryjust2612 exactly, it feels repetitive with Rebels and Mando having Omega as the grogu/Ezra type and the bad batch could’ve been like the new suicide squad, with Tarkin in the Amanda Waller role, Ik Dave Filoni said SW is all about hope, but the same story can’t continuously be told forever and ever, Lucas wouldn’t have wanted that’s what the sequels did in most regards and look how that turned out
@@williamholden7356 Yea I agree Filoni has really struggled to write original stories. At least TLJ was original while still managing to follow Lucas' vision
People online keep forgetting that Clone Wars was still finding its footing in its first season. Give it time, most shows in general have pretty mediocre first seasons compared to the rest. Besides, there where a few pretty amazing episodes in there. I am optimistic and trust Filoni.

Issue i have with that is... that should no longer be the case.. yes you can make that case for the clone wars considering it was made in 2008 and you'd think dave filoni was a bit fresher and less experienced at that time as well as other star wars writing and development staff. But now having that big budget, experienced writers, with a more experienced dave filoni.. Pacing issues shouldn't still be happening in my opinion.. seems like a weak excuse to me

Yes including mando the first seasons are ALWAYS finding there footing bc they’re exploring character direction things ALWAYS get better and with bugger lore building. This was one series for the first time that Filoni has made that had more great episodes in it with less filler. Yes there was filler and pacing issues but at least it had a clear progression
@@jordanfrielingsdorf4761 it had 6 out of 16 good episodes 🤦♂️. Again just seems to be a poor excuse. You'd think after having pacing issues with these other shows (which he gets criticism for) You'd think he'd take the criticisms on board and try fix pacing issues on the next show he works on (bad batch) or at least any good director would notice that themselves and try work on it. 1st season pacing issues should be a thing of the past not a repeated process
I feel what you’re saying about the “filler”, i was only fine with it because it felt like OG Clone Wars, a lot of those episodes are just generic missions that took place during the time period that could’ve been skipped for more interesting plot lines
I agree with you man. I think because we watch so many explainer/opinion videos that only reference the bigger plot points of the clone wars it's easy to forget what an absolute slog the show is to get through. The vast majority of it is filler.
clone wars is a bit different though because there isn't one central storyline like bad batch. bad batch had a linear story but clone wars is an anthology series with multiple arcs

Something that really annoyed me during this season is that every time the show seemed to start building momentum filler episodes happened and it broke the momentum that the show was trying to build

The struggle that Crosshair is going through is the best arc of the season and hopefully will lead to his redemption throughout the series. I hope season two builds off of season one in complexity and challenges.

I'm praying that Crosshair gets a Zuko Redemption arc....I read a couple of other comments where a lot of fans are hoping that he goes rogue...works behind the scene in bringing down the empire.
Honestly, I'd prefer if Crosshair doesn't want redemption and instead doesn't get a redemption arc. I think it'd be more interesting, though it probably won't happen.

Everyone dissing Omega’s personality is forgetting how Season 1 Ahsoka acted

I don't get why people keep comparing ahsoka and omega, they're nothing alike. I liked ahsoka from the first episode, yes, It was a little off that broke with the assumption that anakin never had a padawan, and i guess a lot of people just overreacted. But omega apart from being pushed by the agenda, is really annoying, and it makes everyone else annoying too.
Omega is annoying AF. Ahsoka is mora like a normal brat kid. OMEGA IS INSANELY DONE

Bc aside from the history between the Batch and Crosshair, the whole plot is The Mandalorian S1, beat for beat
This was kind of underwhelming for a season finale, but I still enjoyed the episode. Can't wait for season 2. Omega is, sadly, starting to annoy me, though

@@koreoprezzii she might just be an extremely skilled strategist. It looks like they are setting her up to take on more important roles. She has recently been basically giving them all the basic ideas for rescue missions, escapes and such
Yeah but remember this is Filonis formula for making a great character. Ahsoka was annoying at first. It’s through failure, trial and error that builds character. If omega started out inconsistent or with no flaws she wouldn’t be meaningful
Omega is starting to grow on me. She is very smart at figuring stuff out and is starting to act beyond her years.
I'm still expecting them to reveal that she was actually cloned from a Jedi (maybe even a female Jedi where she was just a straight clone like Boba).
Her specialty was all of their specialties. They clearly showed that. Pay attention fools.
I binged most of this show rather than watching it weekly and it flowed much better. Absolutely love this show! Omega is on of my favorites, only complaint is I wish we got some deeper moments with echo. Can’t wait for season 2
"we learn about the characters along the way" honestly I don't think we do lol. Tell me a single moment in the show where Echo didn't feel like just a background character, or tell me about Tech's personally beyond being intelligent and kinda cold in his technical way of viewing things. Halfway through the season I realized how much these characters were undeveloped, in the end of the season, I really didn't care for them
100% agree! I forgot Echo was there most of the time lol.
the episode where they save a seperatist senator shows Echo‘s biases that have remained inside of him from the war for which he gave his life (well, kind of) and to a certain degree him starting to overcome them. Don‘t ask for a second, but the first was easy.
Tech remains calm in the most dire of situations and is the only one in the group who “gets“ Crosshair. Even without the chip he believes our actions are predetermined by who we are and that people cannot act against their nature, which is also why he never holds a grudge and is quick to tell Echo to shut up when he complains about rescuing the former seperatist. He‘s smart but predictable, not considering his opponent when formulating his plans, allowing Crosshair to stay one step ahead of the group.
There‘s certainly a lot of room for character focused episodes, but I really liked the first season, it‘s beatiful to look at, funny, has great action and heartfelt moments. I‘m excited for season 2!

Couldn't agree more - this show had SO much potential only to fall down Rebels avenue. So many episodes felt like blow offs. I was continually waiting for things to get started and they never did. Here's hoping Season 2 rights a lot of these wrongs.
It’s just like the first season of clone wars and rebels. The show is being established and it will ramp up and become much better in the next seasons. I feel like there will be around 4 seasons just like rebels but I could be wrong. The high points of this season were also amazing as well.
Just becouse it was a first season and it had to establish the story it doesn't mean it should have been this bad. The mandalorian season 1 did the same thing and it was an amazing season, without too much cameos and it had an awesome finale.

If Tech and Echo weren't there nobody would notice. They could've given us a random astromech to handle pretty much their entire role on the team.

I think the Star Wars needs to expand outside just stories revolving the empire (pre/post and during) I mean it’s a whole galaxy we need more unique and self contained stories that are unique like Death Troopers or the Vong.
We might be introduced something like that when thrawn returns since he was in the unknown regions
The Vong would be bad for Star Wars. I'd hate for it to turn into Star Trek.

The season had it's ups and downs, overall it was very enjoyable. There are certain things I hope they improve on in season 2 but i'm satisfied with what we got. It was no Clone Wars Season 7 but I definitely enjoyed it.

This season definitely had its awesome moments. But like u said, sometimes "filler" episodes were necessary for profit. Still wish we got more from the finale. Keep up the good work theory

"As unexcited as I am to have them connected to the sequels..." This line really hit me. Really hoping they don't have any connection to them.

They Will. That stupid mountain at the end of the season for which everyone is creaming their pants is the clone facility for the emperor clones
I hope not either. I think Filoni knows that's and wants to stay away from them at all costs. If these do connect to them then it would ruin the whole show and there would be major backlash.

People are WAY too hard on Omega wanting to save people, She is literally a CHILD that had no friends besides AZ. Like nearly all of the "fiolni characters" go through this phase where they think that they can do anything if they believe hard enough.
Ahsoka literally thinks that she can convince Vader to turn back to the light.... fails and becomes jaded because she watched Anakin strike her down in cold blood.
Ezra thinks that he can just weasel his way into becoming a jedi.... fails and gets Kanan blinded which causes him to slip into the dark side for a moment.
Grogu thinks that giving into his emotions would allow him to defeat the empire and reunite with his father.... fails and proves Ahsoka's point that he isn't ready to become a jedi yet.
Omega will learn... that the life isn't all good.
Not to mention that people hated Ahsoka until the Clone Wars show, and now everyone loves her

Yes. I'd rather have had a one hour Uprising special than the entire Bad Batch season. I kept hoping it would ramp up to that and then they botched it.

I for one really appreciated how they used cross hair in the finale. It was refreshing to see the hero’s and villains come more to a mutual understanding that they don’t have to be enemies.

I think the frustration mostly comes from having to wait to watch one episode a week. when they did that with Mando it worked because 90% of the episodes were important, no filler. if the show was released all at once and we binged it, I think it would be a lot more palatable. I’m tempted to wait for all of season 2 to be out next year and binge it. will be a shame to miss the watch parties though!
I can confirm this. I just discovered this series, and I find all of these people complaining about everything in Bad batch completely crazy. I just watched every episode back to back, and it was the best Star Wars content since a long time for me. It might be even better than Mandalorian quite honestly. Better than Rebels. Maybe even better than Clone Wars.
It's miles ahead of Obi-Wan Kenobi in terms of creativity, combat, emotion and heck, even character development, that's for sure. There are way more iconic moments in this animated series than in both Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi combined. "Good soldiers follow orders" while commiting war crimes single-handedly made Crosshair a better antognist than Reva and heck, even Vader, who was a joke for most of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I did the math and 8 episodes are (extraction) themed. As in someone is captured or needs help and they need to be saved. That’s more than HALF the season. In my opinion there should be more diversity where each episodes are uniquely different.
I think that was the point. The bad batch went to rescue random people they've never met but never bothered rescuing their brother crosshair.
Well... Yeah. This is Star Wars A-Team. Im not joking. Look at the characters, the paint scheme, and the episode plots. We are watching the A-Team.
@@changlouriousbasterd9524 I think you're onto something there. Problem was, the A-Team was actually entertaining through at least its first 30+ episodes. This one had difficulty managing 4 hours of quality airings. Plus, Wrecker is no Mr. T. and they need to find a better Murdock, whoever that's supposed to be.
I like to call "filler" episodes side quest because they still have character development so they're not completely pointless.
I don't think repeating the same type of character development is really character development.

Fillers can be good. The Bad Batch ones were not. They were never bad, but very often blatantly boring. The fact that me, a huge SW fan, would be found yawning during all the episodes and just go out of each feeling bored out and indifferent says a lot. I never ever was looking forward to the next episode, except for the finale, because the last two were actually rather cool.

Bad batch certainly wasn't the best ever made by filoni story-wise, but the way i like to think of it is that its still finding its own footing.
I think S2 will probably bring improvements to that.

The Cid episodes are laying the ground work for the Batches wider involvement in the underworld.

I thought it was good for a season 1 of an animated show. I like it way more than CW season 1 and Rebels season 1. Moving forward I hope it’s more like 12 very solid episodes rather than 6 good ones and 10 average ones. I love all the characters and pretty excited for season 2.
i would rather see a full clone wars length season even if a few episodes are throwaways to some people so that they can get those legendary eps we all love to see
8:37 Correct me if I’m wrong but… Fennec Shand and Boba Fett couldn’t appear together in these episodes because those two didn’t even know each other until after the empire was destroyed.
You are Right.. in the Mandalorian episode “The Tragedy” Boba and Finnic state that they met on Tatooine after Callahan left her for dead.
As someone that gave up on Star Wars after the Prequels, this and Mandalorian got me back into it so I'm watching Clone Wars finally and understanding Prequels in a new light. It was more than I expected and I wasn't expecting a Mando season two style cameo. The last episode was nerve wrecking in a good way though.
Really, after the Prequels? I personally hadn’t much hope left after the Sequels.
I didnt like completely the precuels but, they had their flaws.. thing is that secuels are so bad that make precuels look better of what they are

Honestly would rather not have vader or any force users in the series. It wouldn't make sense for vader to go after them. Vader went after the ghost crew because of kanan, ezra, and ahsoka. The bad batch is not worth vaders attention and the empire thinks they're dead. Maul would make more sense as he is one of the heads of the criminal underworld

@@andy54668 nah that would ruin everything. There is no indication that rex came into contact with vader or knew his identity in rebels. You can't have ahsoka in there with them because she doesn't meet vadrr till 16 ish years later and even she doesn't know exactly who he is.
While I wanted way more, it was still enjoyable and I wasn’t horribly disappointed in the finale, I do want a second season and I think that’s a job well done for a new show. I just wanted a little more of the Empire’s takeover of the galactic republic.

I liked it being all over the place. The universe is in a mass state of upheaval and it showed the reality that they don't have a home, food, income or anything. Then how they had to fight so hard just to get their basic needs like in real life. All while adopting this kid and care for them. That's how it'd really have been.
The 1st seasons of Star Wars animated shows are usually a lot of “filler”. Like the rebels and clone wars, im sure there will be less filler as the seasons go on
I'm starting to see a trend in Dave Filoni's work. It's the strong gruff warrior who becomes a father figure, he has done it with Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian, and now Bad Batch. I am hoping it is the last time we see this trope.
Which precisely why I’m looking forward to book of boba Fett. Although that could easily follow suit(especially if they bring his daughter from legends back)

It was a mirror to obi wan and anakin even down to the circumstance of how he finds him by accident t while on another mission. They have like the most obvious big brother/ little brother vibe. To the point where we never even remotely see kanan act like a father.
Although if you never had or knew a sibling like 10-20 years younger than you it could be mistaken like you have.

My hope for season 2 is that Echo gets more involved. It breaks my heart to see him in a background. I wish there was an episode devoted to him and what he went through. Maybe his cybernetic could help with the dark troopers. Maybe his knowledge of tactics from both republic and separatist makes him valuable, something!! One can only hope for season 2.
I think this show struggled with finding a purpose for the squad. It was always more interesting from Crosshair’s perspective because his purpose is serving the Empire. Would’ve much preferred a 10 episode mini series with a Siege of Mandalore quality feel to it.
My Review: I was 7 yrs-old when Star Wars came out in 1977. My childhood DREAM of an ever-expanding universe of StarWars Stories and Media has COME TRUE. Keep it ALL coming, your content too SW Theory, Peace.

I feel people got their hopes so high for this show and then when a second season was announced it shows this season was more a set up.
It is very common in TV for most Season Ones to start very slowly with tons of filler episodes. That is basically putting characters in different situations and seeing how they respond and work together. One of the reasons is because if you escalate the story too quickly (i.e: adding more cameos/references), then the show may lose momentum in the long term. In other words, you get the audience really hyped up in the beginning only to find that enthusiasm dwindle over time.
If anything, The Bad Batch feels like an 80s TV show (a la The A-Team) inside the Star Wars universe.
I definitely got the feeling that this show was written without knowing if there would be a second season or not. The last episode felt so final. It was missing the typical "cliffhanger" one would expect from a continuing show. I was hoping to see way more concerning the early days of the Empire..I felt disappointed it was missing. And frankly, another mysterious child with powers trope, is getting kind of old.
I do hope to see more of what was missing from this season in the next.
I hope this will be something like the first season of the Mandalorian where there's a lot of potential, but really delivers in S2. I feel like S1 of Mando had a bunch of unnecessary filler too, so here's to hoping we'll get bigger plot points in the next season
Yo? Mando season 2 only delivered for about 5min when Luke's X-Wing showed up and Ashokas introduction to live action...everything else was a disjointed filler cus each episode had a different creator. Keeping the story from flowing smoothly as 1 continuous show

@@billyjenkins7951 ya, was excited for Boba too, but looking back it did feel like a distraction to keep ppl from paying to much attention to huge plot holes and irregularties that don't make sense. They went off on a side quest right at the beginning to deliver eggs that for some reason cant travel by hyperdrive. Then u have that ancient ruin episode where Mando continuesly Runs into force field over and over again, meanwhile stormtroopers run around like idiots unable to hit ANYBODY, except for a big rock which apparently no one is capableof dodging(at least throw in a few red shirts so that a battle actually feels impactful and doesn't make the once feared stormtroopers look like cowardly idiots). Then u have the convoy episode which I actually enjoyed, up until a scan of Mandos face turns out to be enough to unlock imperial security systems (HOW?). Lastly, the part with the Datk Troopers punching their way through a door. We've seen ppl in SW blowtorching their way through doors before, why cant a top of the line war driod cut through a door too instead of going all "rock'em sock'em robot for 10 minutes?"

I actually said to my friends while discussing the season finale, if the part 1 was the season final I would have been happy. Hell, if they started the next season with part 2, that would have been better than this. But with that said this show is good, I love seeing the transition between the republic and empire and the characters are great
As skeptical as I was about this show originally, I thought it was a great first season. The first episode was one of the best clone wars/bad batch episodes ever. The inclusion of new characters such as Howzer and Rampart was great as well. It was cool to see the Pikes again. And the fact that the reg clones went from being the good guys to the bad guys is a cool perspective to see animated as well. I think this show is being judged a bit harshly.
Oh and how could I forget Cad Bane
I think people were wanting and maybe expecting a Vader appearance (those types of crazy cameos) in every episode. That obviously wasn't the plan and wouldn't be good for the long-term health of the show. I thought season 1 was great.

Initially, I had my doubts with this show when I heard about it. It felt as if Disney was simply milking Star Wars for content. However, it turned out to be far better than I expected, but the main issue has been a lack of plot-relevant episodes.

To be fair, they did say the show was specifically about the Bad Batch being mercenaries and not specifically about the empire or what they are doing. If you don’t believe me just look at the about section on Disney plus when you’re at the show.

Just wish we got way more of it. I honestly didn’t care much for him because we’ve only seen him in like 10 episodes including season 7. And we would skip many weeks before we saw him again

I haven't really felt much for Crosshair.
People miss the ending of the show, the end of the show was to let you take in Tipoca has sunk, let it sink in if you get what I mean. If episode 16 was just them getting captured by Rampart and them escaping it would just feel a little bit like episode 1 when Tarkin captures them and Tipoca being blown up would've just felt half-baked, like it was only used for shock value and didn't mean anything at all. It was to let Crosshair and the batch be forced to help each other escape the city while it's crumbling around them and arguing the entire way showing Omega and Crosshair's characters the most having Crosshair have a sort of redemption moment with the batch but not the type of redemption where all is forgiven and they go back to the Havoc Marauder and laugh it all up. Omega also shows her innocents trying to save both Crosshair and AZI but also learning Crosshair isn't the person she thought he was. It also shows Hunter, Tech's and Wrecker's opinions on Crosshair (we don't get much on Echo as he didn't have the same relationship with Crosshair as the rest of the batch did, though they still could've done more with him) Hunter is very petty and and angry with Crosshair and himself, Wrecker thinks Crosshair should've tried to come back himself and that he still would've taken him back in and Tech believes that it's simply Crosshair's nature and that he can't change. Crosshair proves Tech wrong by saving Omega, Wrecker shows that he wouldn't take Crosshair in not trusting in him when he aims his gun at him and Hunter gives Crosshair a chance at the end to join the batch acknowledging their differences but still giving him a chance. Ultimately it's an episode to reflect for its characters and Tipoca's (and the other facilities) destruction.
I feel like they included Fennec Shand in the show for something in the Book of Boba Fett. They did tease that relationship between Omega and Boba, and now Boba’s close to someone who has a history with Omega.
Episode 15 have left me traumatized where Kamino was being destroyed. Both Part I and II season finale would’ve been better as one. But I did enjoy this season.
By destroying kamino they ruined so many legends stories by Lucas and ruined the storm troopers... at least for me.
This series ain’t canon to me but it’s still fun

Your analysis here is spot on. I had a hopeful feeling going into every episode that we would progress the story line in a exciting way only to be kind of disappointed at the end of each one. A lot of nothing episodes that didn’t do much as it relates to the galaxy during that time. Obviously the effects and music were pretty cool but just a lot to be desired in this 1st season
The “little missions” show the bad batch and US how much the galaxy is changing and how aggressive and quick it’s happening. We didn’t need jedi or anything else because we’re seeing everything unfold through the bad batch
I'm happy they did 16 episodes. I feel I wouldn't have kept my interest if every episode was an hour long. This length was digestible enough.
I'm getting tired of "shows" (actually mini series) like the Marvel shows that have like 5-6 episodes per season. I would rather have more episodes than less. Even in filler episodes there's always nuggets of gold hidden.

i didn't mind the filler episodes because its fills in some basic stuff. The bad batch used to get supplies, food, fuel, weapons etc. from the Republic and Kamino. when they were gone they had to find other ways of obtaining those things. Its showed on how that how they had to adapt from being a commando squad fighting for the Republic to be becoming errand boys to keep themselves feed and have a place to stay. Even Crosshair is having his pains, to him being a soldier was they only thing he knew and the only thing he wanted. it hard to imagine him doing stuff for Sid or doing some random mission to recover obscure things because he believes hes meant to do more.
I would love to see more shows that have flash forward scenes. Imagine seeing Omega 10-20 years from now and not seeing any of the Bad Batch. Maybe she's in a lab somewhere and Nala Se is there. One of best shows on right now is This Is Us because they do a lot of flash backs and flash forward scenes and connect them to present day. While the genre is different, I think it could be cool to incorporate some of that format into the show. I understand we kind of know what happens in the Star Wars galaxy, but not specifically with Omega and the Bad Batch. It's probably safe to assume they are terminated but who knows. Flash backs would also be pretty cool to see. Omega could be in the lab in the past looking at the tanks that the Bad Batch are in and then flashing back to present day to the empty tanks. TV shows and movies are meant to be visual. Her telling us and them that she was there when they were created isn't as powerful as showing us on screen.
I really hope that we get more than 2 seasons, We have some real potential here

I completely agree, the first episode is by far the best and the rest of the show is just fine. What I REALLY wish we had gotten was some more character development with Echo, Tech, and Wrecker. Both Wrecker and Tech having their small moment with Crosshair while escaping the sinking city was great, and when I saw it I thought “yes!! More of this, please!” And it just kinda seemed like Echo had nothing to do other than slice consoles. It just kinda sucked seeing those very endearing characters get sidelined. But let’s see where season 2 takes things!
The premise is about a clone squad trying to make it's way through a changing Galaxy. It's not about the empire.

I feel like putting a story in this time period is kinda a bad idea. Everyone wants to see big names like Vader and wants people like Rex to be a huge name but having just a stand alone story about this clones dealing with order 66 was good. I didnt need to see Ashoka, Vader etc. As a stand alone Star Wars adventure with a few cameos from known characters. I like Crosshair’s arc and each member of the bad batch stood out in a unique way. I actually didn’t hate the “full episodes” because again I didn’t go into this show expecting a lot. Overall I enjoyed it 8/10

I'm glad we didn't see Vader or Ahsoka. As much as I love them, always bringing big names in kind of ruins it. Let other characters have their screen time! Sadly the show was a disappointment imo.

I would’ve liked to have seen the clones revolt on Kamino like in Battlefront 2 (2005). The bad batch and Rex could’ve assisted the revolting clones, while Boba and Vader were called to shut them down. This could’ve also led to Rex seeing Vader. Now that would’ve been a wild finale.

I personally really enjoyed the show! To me, it didn't really seem tedious. Ofc, I do agree with all of the ways that you thought it could be improved, but as a _very_ casual viewer, I didn't really see any flaws!
IMO - Omega is one of the more interesting characters in Star Wars. It takes far more discipline and courage to be compassionate in whatever situation one finds themself than to simply fall back into "righteous anger" at a perceived injustice. And this is why the Bad Batch are willing to follow her lead. They see the bravery it takes to want to save someone from a difficult situation even if that situation is self created. This is Omega's true gift, being a warrior for understanding and healing.
Omega has all the "bravery" of a kid insisting they want the thing while waiting in the checkout line. Hunter has the discipline of a bored parent that sacrifices something necessary for the kid to have their sugar rush. There's never any discussion beyond what Veruca Salt ever offered: "We need to help." "Omega, no." "But we have to, NOOOWW!" "Okay." Yeah, really convincing military unit they've got there. Plus, her own childish lack of logic and reason is incredible given she's supposed to be considerably older than they are. Being cooped up on Kamino might ordinarily explain her naivete, except for being one of about three individuals who aren't the genetically engineered military killing machines amongst whom they live 24/7. Even the base premise of her character is ridiculous.
It takes far more courage to make necessary sacrifices in order to do the job they needed to accomplish, rather than always follow her fool's errands. I realize the writers are trying to contrast the team's optimistic freedom of choice with Crosshair's fatalism, but it's over the top. She's the reason the Bad Batch never went back for Crosshair, always putting them into positions that delayed their debt to Sid and being unable to move on with their mission as a result. It was "her decisions" that dragged the narrative down every time, which reset Sid's debt again and again. Luckily for the writers, her stupid decisions and the Bad Batch's lack of discipline work out every week. Unluckily for the audience, it removes pacing and any possible tension. "Who are they going to save this week without consequences?"

Absolutely agree with your review. The bits that were shown of the Empire beginning to take control of planets was great. With only a short episode run there should’ve been less unrelated side quests and more of a focused story. 7 out of 10 is a fair rating for season one.
Maybe I have an unpopular opinion, but I don’t mind filler, I like seeing these characters do things, I like seeing action scenes, I like hearing dialogue. And truthfully, if they want to stretch and series out by using filler I’m all for it. Imagine how many people would be jumping out of their seats for more clone wars episodes that were filler. Hell, some of the best episodes of that series were filler.

I agree with your sentiments upon the first season of the Bad Batch. I think the writing team should have consolidated the episodes into a shorter season to make the show have more punch, whilst conspiring more anticipation weekly. The first episode was a extreme success, which set up our expectations for a grand plot-triangle that most of the episodes never delivered.
I love Star Wars, but this last decade has been somewhat troublesome, but I'm happy that material is continued to be improved upon.

I enjoyed every single episode. It is showing what life is like in the galaxy at this time, those missions with Cid were important because it showed them just surviving. I'd love to have seen some Jedi or other big characters but that would be too easy, just throwing major characters in there whenever they want. I prefer this style honestly, it really encompassed the whole galaxy's shift.
considering how bad the first season of clone wars and rebels were in comparison to the rest of the shows, this was honestly a good first season. yeah, they could‘ve done so much more, but it wasn‘t a BAD show

While I think your right about the quality of this season, I think a big reason why people are disappointed is because of how the pace of this season played our. Both Rebels S1 and Clone Wars S1 started off patchy but ramped up to strong endings. Bad Batch started very strong, slowed down, and ended kind-of quietly. I think everyone was expecting it to end as good as it begun, and because it didn't, everyone became much more harsh on it.

We can see throw his eyes how the Republic bureaucracy (army, civil administration etc.) has changed after upcoming of the Empire. In the first season we saw the changes as usual citizens saw them, it would be interesting to see how the Empire made the purges.
