As an older archer back when i made the switch from index to thumb i started shooting Caters and that changed the game for me. Guys thought i was crazy for using a thumb release (meant for target archery) to hunt with. I was so much faster shooting when your release is always attached to the d-loop. Love what your doing with this thumb. Looks very intentional and tailored well to any archer. Might need to pick this one up.
Well, I gave it a try. Bought the SS version as I like the additional weight in a release. Adjustability is awesome, barrel size perfect, trigger break excellent and fit and finish is second to none. HOWEVER, major design flaw (in my opinion) with having the D Loop retension system. Not so bad if you’re clipping on and hanging the bow up. But if you’re in a high pressure situation where you have a deer coming in or you’re looking for a follow up shot, it is not simple to Quickly get this release on your D Loop. Not sure why set trigger doesn’t fully enclose the d loop string. My carter does this and would be the Perfect revision to this release. I returned for now but if that part changes I will re-buy for sure.
I was intrigued until I saw the price tag. $299 USD. No thanks. I told myself while watching this that if the price came in around $150 - $200, I could see myself picking this up. However, $299 is not a price I could justify dropping and then sleeping well at night without regretting my decision later. I'll consider it at another time with a pretty steep sale.
@@Ricatonniisasavage8854 I've followed John for a while but wasn't aware his products were more affordable. I'll check it out, thanks for The recommendation!
@@BrutalTime I mean, it’s not cheap by any means, but it’s less expensive than this UV Button Release. I’ve had it for several years and it’s built like a Tank, it’s better than The Standard Carter Wise Choice, because I’m able to use an Allen Wrench to make the trigger heavier, to allow me to shoot solely using back tension. I feel shooting using back tension, has caused me to be more accurate shooting Targets or Wild Game. If you’ve got the money to spend (just a lil over $200) I’d highly recommend it, it’s 100% High Quality and with the right TLC, will last a lifetime.
Something I learned during my time in service is that you should train to be the best soldier with any type of gear you're issued. Can certain gear perform better? Absolutely. Can you get the job done with all types of gear? Absolutely. It's 2022 and people could use all the money they can. It would have been cool and probably sell more units if this wasn't so expensive. I do plan on eventually buying this and the hinge though. I love testing new releases after I spend a good amount of time with one.
They should add knurling on the inside of the finger grooves. There has been a couple times the release slipped out of my hands when they were wet or sweaty causing me to fire to early.
I’ve got the Nock2It from Nock On Archery and I love it, it’s a Two Finger design, which allows for less movement of the String and for better anchoring. I have a 3 Finger Carter WiseChoice that I never use too, all the Nock2It is, is a 2 Finger design of The WiseChoice.. I’ll stick with My Nock2It, but this release definitely looks cool and I’m sure it’d be nice to add to my collection someday soon. Just, My Nock2It is built like a Tank and was quite a bit cheaper, had it for a few years and with the right care, it’ll last a life time.
yeah the Nock2It is my go to. I also have the Silverback and thinking about the 2smooth. Ultraview is expensive stuff so I just stick with the Carter stuff as well which is just as good in my opinion. I got the Nock2it and the Silverback together for less than I could buy the hinge or the button for.
It looks like a Wise Choice with a neat feature to get it on the string, and keep it there easier. Looks like a good one for someone who needs a release.
Sorry chris I am staying at my Stan shootoff TL. It is crisp has all the adjustments. It's a 3 finger and a half. You can use your pinky on the end. Your release is nice .
Very interesting release. Can it be used as a real back tension release? Probably not, but I like the idea of the no travel thing and perhaps a light tension setting, so as soon as a little bit pressure is added on the thumb, off it goes. Probably not good for hunting, because there you want to have more control on when the shot goes off. But could be interesting for target and 3D. I have allways shot back tension release, but because of a bit shoulder pain, I am trying to shoot my Carter Attraction as a thumb button release. It works, but maybe there's too much travel in it, to be successful.
Chris, great content and extremely thoughtful narration. Love your work. Just watched the moose video and the emotion was palpable. Awesome job, would love a video of your gear list …both bow details and pack details for the moose trip. The former owner of Kuiu , Jason Hairston used to do an amazing job of hunting pack detail videos and you seemed so dialed in for that trip that I know it would be very helpful and interesting for a ton of hunters. Keep up the great work and bravo to you young man for your truly outstanding content!! Cheers from Montreal
1 year old, this review, but now it leads me to this nice little release. Awesome. TY for your video. Maybe there will be an upgrade to the hinge 2 in 2025. TY Chris (for all your videos, so interesting) for this support
Bought my hinge 2 prolly 2 months ago guess imma have to break down and get this one too. The quality of UV products is hands down the top of the game imo
That you should be able to flip the thumb button over without a problem it's got a skirt tap hole in it and it's under the script take it to the other side but in there bam you're done Anyway that's how it looks as hes showing it
I tried it when I was buying a new release which btw led to me getting a phase 4 bow but personally I liked the Stan onnex more because it’s more adjustable and realistically sized
Hey Chris. Thanks for the video. I bought UV Hinge 2 a few months ago. Love the idea of the button. Already ordered one. You and all other videos didn’t address how to flip the button to the other side for us lefty’s. Thoughts?? I got the hunting bracket for the hinge 2 and it’s a right hand design. Hope this release is ambidextrous. Is it?
Love your content dude, but I'll be sticking to my $20 release.. it's been reliable and I got my practice with it so I'm very comfortable and accurate with it and just doesn't seem like that thing offers me much more. Probably try drop something at a reasonable price point like $80 or something so I don't have to justify why a glorified clip costs as much as a mud tyre on my 4x4.
Good review. Anxious to get mine. Can you send some of those sun dried tomato basil crackers for me too? Any plans for a “short neck” option in the future, for the UV line of releases?
Colby, Chris, and the uv team. All i can say is, wow. What an amazing design and concept with tons of adjustability. I so so so bad want to buy one. I have the beereal 2.0 grip and uv slider on my lift 33. this would be an amazing addition to my setup, but I literally made a promise to myself to not buy anymore uv products tell customer service changes and we (the customers feel valued). I hope you guys see this and really listen to how customers feel. I just licensed and trademarked my own archery/hunting brand and channel. Which is going to be for the blue collar archers and hunters. I am going to be honest always and going to stand behind products and people I believe in. Also this isnt just how I feel I know alot of people in the archery community and it is literally all I hear is uv makes great products but they don't care about customers, we dont matter to them, i have no way to communicate with them about stuff, i literally text a number to get more products for the store and there customer service is horrible. I was at a really popular archery shop and 3d competition, I literally heard this about a dozen times over the weekend. So please make customers a priority so I can continue supporting you guys and try out ur thumb button release.
Love your set up, I have the same but the 29.5. I got the button from uv when I first saw this video. It was my first purchase from them. I picked up the slider for my hoyt vetum last year and got one for my lift the same day I purchased the bow. I had a small problem with the slider on my lift and emailed uv customer support. They got back to me in a day and had about 6 emails back and forth over 3 days. I was happy with their response and felt like a valuable customer with them. I'm not sure if I had a rare experience with them but have to give a little leway where they literally blew up into a major company and been playing catchup. Elkshape did a podcast with Colby it's about an hour or so long, and he addresses the customer service in the interview and what they have been doing to correct it. You being a dealer in archery, I would try the email route and tell them hey, I want to sell your products, and I need you guys to be with me and help me push the brand. If they don't give you the time to help you, then I would be truly upset set with the customer service as well. Sorry if my reply is to long.
I tried this release, and it is a sweet release! But the design did not work for my hand, it felt to tight around my pointer finger! If it had a slightly more open finger layout I would have taken one home with me.
Knife doesn't look too bad, should be pretty easy to reprofile a tip onto that. If you can't do it yourself then any semi-competent cutlery shop will be able to sort it for you
Hey man I love your content!! So I have a video request and your pry did it already but can you walk threw your shot cycle? You do the same exact thing every single time you shoot and I’m curious what’s going threw your mind during the process!
Thanks for the video @chris bee I ordered mine on release and it finally finally arrived today customs has had it for over a month carnt wait to get up to the woods to see how it performs review incoming to go with all the others out there 😂
Would you recommend the Button over the Hinge 2 or is it just personal preference? I just got the Hinge 2 but I'm thinking about returning and paying the difference to get the button.
When I was young I shot 80 pounds with fingers. One day at the archery shop I saw my first release. Bought it went home and immediately shot a hole in my neighbors house. Never forget the look on his face when I ask him if he had any more green house paint🤣
Will the hinge fingers accessories work on the button? I got used to shooting a two finger ever since I switched my truball 3rd finger out with a two finger funky finger from UV.
This is an excellent release. The one place to spend top dollar before anything else in archery is your release. My only gripe is the large version is too big. Ultraview is one of those companies that thinks big guys are giants, or another species or something lol. Had to exchange for a medium right off
Hey Chris, I’m 13 and shoot a mission switch at 25 1/2 draw length and 45 pounds. Last deer season I had so Penetration issues. I was able to kill the deer but not get a pass through. Is there any arrow set up that’s gonna help with speed and penetration. Thanks
What’s your arrow weight? I’m guessing your shooting like 350-400grains at that setup? After buying gear and getting ready for whitetail season in missouri my, wife would kill me if I bought a release for this much.. tell me it is worth $299 and I'll risk it for deer season
I wish they had a more affordable option because I'm 14 and can't go drop a couple hundred dollars on a release.
Lol, same
Man I feel you. I’m a grown man in my 30s with a decent job and I can’t justify dropping $300 on a release.
It costs almost as much as my bow.
@@whalen83 yeah man me too, and I'm in Canada and up here the release costs $396

What needs to be done for a left handed archer? Just switch the barrel arm, where it loosens from?
Awesome video, I just grabbed one in stainless, how can you go wrong? Wen will the 4 finger attachment will be available?

What would you recommend for somebody that’s been shooting for years, but with an index release the button or the hinge
Are they going to make it for us larger handed folks and is it able to be adjusted for lefties ?
I have to mess with the travel before adjusting the force ?
I’m switching to a thumb button from a wrist strap. Can I use this for target and hunting too?
Got mine today for a late Christmas present, you don’t have to justify buying one to anyone if that’s what you really want.
Knife doesn't look too bad, should be pretty easy to reprofile a tip onto that. If you can't do it yourself then any semi-competent cutlery shop will be able to sort it for you
Can you flip the barrel around to the other side for left handed shooters?
Can you adjust this for lefty shooters? Or is this one sided only? 😭
Where can I get the release
Well I'm not much on T handle releases but we definitely 100% agree on pocket knife selection. The KOL is the ultimate
Would like to see the large size pre-order/ reservation come available ASAP!
Do they come in a left hand configuration

Been waiting for this!
Is there a noticeable impact shift between the hinge 2 and button?
What is and what is the significance of using the term “button”. Or is it just a name?
Is this universal for both left and right hand?
Is shooting a button release like shooting a index finger style release? Or different? Why do people like the button over a index
This is an excellent release. The one place to spend top dollar before anything else in archery is your release. My only gripe is the large version is too big. Ultraview is one of those companies that thinks big guys are giants, or another species or something lol. Had to exchange for a medium right off
wish they made a huge stock of them before releasing so they weren't out of stock within a day
Does this not come in large?
ChrisBee, Can this be setup for a lefty shooter, I ordered one, even though I haven't found any information on that?
I’m left handed is the release works both ways cause the site doesn’t give it in a left hand
This release is so sick I can't wait to get my hands on one! Will they be sellable to pro shops?
Yes my pro shop has them
Surprised that an auto closing/cocking jaw like the Truball Blade Pro wasn’t incorporated in the design.
Great job your doing Chris your releas aid looks pretty good
One full turn of force is still pretty light. For me, 1.75 turns is perfect.
I’d try going a bit heavier but not to much as your going to have trajectory/range issues and use a fixed blade broadhead instead of a mechanical. If your using a mechanical you need to read up on the packaging how much kinetic energy/momentum
It takes to open the head. You may be barely enough at release to open it let alone down range
You are so underrated you deserve more subs bro
@ Chris bee please hunt with the new button release for this year hunting season and show it off I know you like hunting with your hinge but could you hunt with the new button? Just wondering
Would be great if Ultraview sold a wrist strap that fit this release. Any suggestion on aftermarket straps/tethers that would work with it?
The scott archery ones should work just fine
This is wonderful! Do you offer a veteran discount?
How do you switch it to left handed?
how easy is it to switch the thumb barrel over for lefty's
Can the thumb button be reversed to fit a left handed shooter
I am looking into getting a button release could you review some of the other brands that are a little cheaper? If you could I would appreciate it thank you.
Gettin one for Christmas😊

Any suggestions on how to pick the right size? Not sure if I should get the medium or wait for the large. No idea how to figure out which size might fit me best.
Did you find out about size does medium fit most people
Is there going to be a large version?
I need this release in my life 👏🏻👏🏻

What is the weight of the aluminum and stainless?
