To this day.....i watch this video not only for the craftsmanship of this beast of a truck....but because tdg is the theme for this video. Awesome video guys.
Hey this is the guy that was at the gas station!! Me and my buds took a couple pictures of the truck. You were hauling the skid steer. Nice work bud!!!!
i like that build, my dream truck is all american, a 67-94 chevy ext cab long bed with a 12 valve cummins, and ford solid axels, lifted a few inches with decently meaty tires, mickey thomson rims and a nasty cam with some stacks
+SS4LiFe1488 You have to be careful with diesel cams. If its too big and you don't have the air and fuel, it will be a dog on the bottom end. Some of the bigger cams like a higher RPM range and that means a stronger rotating assembly which = $$$$$$$$.
+Chevrolet Cummins thanks for letting me know man, ive only gotten into chevy small and big blocks, have never been in a diesel before. im planning on rebuilding a 12 valve cummins with a 5 speed granny low tranny for my chevy one of these days, and ill put my 350 in an old muscle car of course! or better yet sell it and get a big block
5 years too late but that is one of the coolest trucks ive seen. I have the last year of that body style i bought 2 years ago with 32k original miles on it. Now that it just passed 100k ive been looking into a 12 valve conversion. Hopefully this winter
Awsome conversion. Do u have any trouble towing the Gooseneck trailer. my truck is lifted and I want to buy a gooseneck for my buisness and get rid of the tag alongside. And by the way my tag alongs r Gator Made trailers also. Best trailers in the world.
Absolutely amazing build sir. It is my dream to build a truck in such depth and detail. Watching this build video gives me the motivation to keep focus on what I want to do. Thank you for posting this video.
+David McQueen Thank you and you are welcome. It is worth it in the end to have something so many people appreciate looking at it. Thanks for watching.
I generally don't like cummins swaps just because they are way overdone but this was done right! You just throw a greasy old 12v and leave everything else stock. The whole truck has an attitude and I love it! Nice choice with the hood. Also good music choice.
+Palmer Boudreau I would love to make a couple hooks with it but this truck scales over 10,000 pounds. I think most classes are under 10k. Plus the compounds would put me in with the big dogs which I couldn't compete with.
+Chad Gronsten Thank you. The only way I could have went with exhaust out the rear is if I did without a spare tire. Otherwise, the 5" exhaust pipe would have been clearly visible and I didn't want that.
A 5.9 8.3 or 6.7 doesn't need 5...The ol 855's and ISXs run 5..I always thought it was hard to make 5 look clean, especially on older pickups that don't have the room to work with.
Very awesome and super clean its one bad ass truck, I'm not exactly a fan of your wheel and tire combo but then again I didn't put 1500+ hours into the truck so you do you.
I bought the same truck in a 2000 model year with a 6.5 diesel. I am lowering it which would be the only difference. I would like to do a video on the whole rebuild and wondering if we could speak together about some definite do's and do not's? Thank you, Mike Fitzgerald Calgary Canada 🇨🇦
I’m going to be starting my own diesel build, with a 99’ Chevy crewcab single rear wheel, and I’m trying to figure out a few things before I start. Like what motor would be best?, LBZ 6.6l or 98’-99’ 5.9l 12-v,.. how to choose a transmission, and finally I guess. What kind of money am I looking into spending?
Had my 1998 GMC c3500 crew cab long bed for 6 months now. Where do I start? The 32 inch Goodyear’s with 2 inch coil and cheap eBay spacers ain’t getting it!
I have a 12v with a bad transmission an a Chevy 2500HD with a 4L80E Billet with a blown motor. Do the 4L80E handle the power good would you recommend it or say go with a different transmission Aswell as pulling with it ???????
Do you have a parts list with part numbers of everything used to build the exhaust? I'm working on my truck now and not getting any information from vendors on what's needed for the conversion exhaust system.
I would have to do a lot of digging to find all that. I did use a 5" downpipe for an 07.5 Cummins and cut the angles so I could clock them. It's all 5" from the turbo back. I had to make my own 5" Y pipe then went to 4" to go over both sides of the frame, 90's up into the bed with stack breaker clamps. I also had to notch the fuel tank for clearance on the driver's side.
I'm considering buying a stock 1998 Chevy 3500 Crew Cab 4x4, 6.5L Diesel DRW to pull a 5th Wheel. Any idea the max towing capacity on a stock 6.4L Diesel?? The 5th Wheel is 12,400lbs dry weight, loaded 15,500lbs?? Any info would help.
I used the factory AC compressor on the Cummins. I just had to notch the frame. Stock computer but I've been told it's not needed so I'm not sure. I've used all the factory gauges and added more. The only accessory bracket I had to make was for the GM alternator.
Hell ya boss! You and I should meet! I have the same disease and I won't rest until I realize it 100%! My goal cosists of 1978 1 ton crew dually most likely a 5.9 swap. With all that HP you're running you could afford a little more meat on them 22.5s but no dought my friend that is deffinitely a ground pounder!
Very badass truck "for a chevy" lol the only thing I really would have done differently is put a super Dana 60 in so you could utilize wide track and that super sharp turning radius
Do all of your gauges work? If you kept them factory. I just finished getting everything mounted in have to run fuel line and adapting the A/C. What kinks did you have once it was running? Great build by the way! A++
Everything but the speedometer works. I still have to figure out which wire from my transmission controller I need to splice to for a signal. I ran into a few kinks getting it going... mostly leaks from all the plumbing I added. Nothing too bad though.
Looked like a 454 Vortec, pretty much a boat anchor; but kicks the shit out of the gas "truck" engines made today. Big Block power was the go-to of olden days. Unfortunately emissions ruined that and now even has Diesels in their crosshairs respectively.
How did you control the HE351VGT? I am going to use the same turbo on my compound set up with an HT60. Did you use an electronic control or are you running it off of the engines boost? Thanks, Awesome truck by the way.
+Cole Berenyi The controller I am using now is basically a prototype to see what it took to control the vanes independently from an ECM like it is in the OEM setup. It doesn't use any boost pressure and is controlled by a switch in the cab to open and close the vanes. I am in the process of designing a different one that has more flexibility and can be used for just about any universal application with a 351VGT in any vehicle. As soon as I have one in hand that can be tested, I will post a video of it to see if there is an interest for it. Thanks for the compliment.
Mine was not cheap but it is a nv4500 5 speed trans it would mate with cummins with right set up but you are right i paid top dollar for this truck Extended cab 8 foot bed rare rare
+Jon Hlebasko A 1979 K30. Any square body 1 ton GMC or Chevrolet will have the axle. If you stay with a gas engine, a ball joint axle will do. If you put a heavier engine like a diesel in it, I would recommend the kingpin axle. A lot of places carry the SAS conversion parts, but I got mine from Off Road Design. Nice quality parts and excellent customer service.
+Bobby Ilejay I love the mirrors. I bought the ones that had all the options like heated, turn signal/marker lights, telescoping and power. They will vibrate at highway speeds but I don't care. Just install them exactly how the directions say. There is a little metal bracket that MUST be installed to help eliminate vibrations. No body lift. The straight axle conversion gives about 5"-6" lift.
+1slowv6 The 4L80E works great. You will need a controller since it is an electronic transmission unless you go with a manual valve body. Mine has taken all the power Ive thrown at it and I do towing in excess of 25k pounds gross. If you turn the engine up, you will need all the upgrades for the transmission.
I capped the vacuum pump. For the three lines on the hydro boost, one is a dump to the reservoir, one is pressure line to the hydro boost and the third goes to the steering gear box.
That is a SWEET truck dude! Nice work! Lotta hours and hard labor into that. Good job!
+Military Chevy Thanks man. Yeah it was a lot of work.
This conversion blew my mind. It is REALLY amazing. Wish I had the skill, time, and money. Great job man!
Thanks! I appreciate it. Now if only Diesel Power would open their damn eyes and put it in the magazine...
To this day.....i watch this video not only for the craftsmanship of this beast of a truck....but because tdg is the theme for this video. Awesome video guys.
Very nice truck, I put the 454 in my Tahoe dozen years ago and now I’ve got a 12 valve coming to replace that.. solid axle.. great minds think alike 👍
Hey this is the guy that was at the gas station!! Me and my buds took a couple pictures of the truck. You were hauling the skid steer. Nice work bud!!!!
Yeah I remember you guys. Thanks. Catch up with me sometime if you want to see more of it.
I would have liked to see an Allison 1000 series trans behind that Cummins . Nice truck !!
this is amazing!! I love what you did suspension, and body wise. But a compound 12valve is what really gets me. Long live the 5.9!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
i like that build, my dream truck is all american, a 67-94 chevy ext cab long bed with a 12 valve cummins, and ford solid axels, lifted a few inches with decently meaty tires, mickey thomson rims and a nasty cam with some stacks

One of the coolest builds Ive ever seen. Great work! look forward to more videos
+Korbin Lindell Thanks. There will be another one coming soon with video within the video. Stay tuned!

Very nice work, I envy your ability
To execute such a project
Thank you!
4 minute video, none of which shows the truck running and driving.
Nice truck, just wish they showed it running and driving.
I just uploaded a walk around for now. I will upload another one with some towing soon. Thanks for watching guys.
Awsome conversion. Do u have any trouble towing the Gooseneck trailer. my truck is lifted and I want to buy a gooseneck for my buisness and get rid of the tag alongside. And by the way my tag alongs r Gator Made trailers also. Best trailers in the world.
Thanks. No problem at all pulling a gooseneck. The whole setup works really well. And I agree on the Gators. I've owned two of them.
do you live in indiana? i do!
thats badass man and the obsession is real with you jesus alot of blood sweat a tear went imto this build
Yes it is. Thanks for watching.
Now thats what a bulletproof truck looks like!
built not bought is best kind of truck there is. i got couple trucks im working on. cant wait till i can start posting them. good job!
+bria6094 I agree. Good luck on your projects! I always like to see what other people come up with.
Hey! I met you last weekend! One of your biggest fans here! 😁 Your truck is pretty amazing & so are you! Such a talented & hard working man!
Nice build very properly done too no corners cut
+Jesse Hart Thank you!
That truck is sic, hats off to the awesome work you put into it.
Thank you!
This thing is BAD ASS. One thing I did to my Suburban which I think would look great on your truck is to make the upper side markers functional.
+Grajeda Thank you. I will keep that suggestion in mind.
This is the best cummins swap I've seen! Very good job, it looks fantastic!
+Tyler Covington Thanks man.
Hell yeah! This is the definition of Built not bought! Awesome work!
+DbrownVision Thank you!
I love the way your truck turned out, it looks and sounds amazing
Absolutely amazing build sir. It is my dream to build a truck in such depth and detail. Watching this build video gives me the motivation to keep focus on what I want to do. Thank you for posting this video.
+David McQueen Thank you and you are welcome. It is worth it in the end to have something so many people appreciate looking at it. Thanks for watching.
Bad ass! Wish my Cummins Chevy was that clean... Someday... Mines a work in progri
+Derek Michael Thanks a lot!
Clean! I love my duramax but wanna get a Cummins dually one day.
+Chris Ragsdale Thanks.
Wicked build man that’s like my dream truck
This truck is beautiful, good job on all the hard work! Its only worth the time put in and this beast is damn worth it.
+Nick Lonsbury Thanks. I appreciate it.
now that is a very proper build. very nice work
Thanks a lot.
that's epic and proud to have on the inside 2:43
Awesome build. Looks like that cummins came from factory in that rig
+T Brice Thank you!
Totally Awesome! Looks excellent great work!
+Dan Soderholm Thank you!
I would 100% take this truck over a brand new one, what a badass truck
Awesome job, this makes me miss my 97 Chevy 3500 SRW that I cummins swapped.
+06Duramax97Powerstroke Thanks. Ive seen videos where guys did the swaps, sold them, then regretted it. I hope I don't do it...
Holy shit this truck is BAD to the BONE, long live the 12 valve Cummins!!!!!
My thoughts exactly... that's why I chose that engine. Thanks!
+Chevrolet Cummins please contact me :)
Badass truck, very nice work!!!
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Awesome build. I'm actually looking for the same truck to build. Just built a 84 squarebody dually 4x4.
I generally don't like cummins swaps just because they are way overdone but this was done right! You just throw a greasy old 12v and leave everything else stock. The whole truck has an attitude and I love it! Nice choice with the hood. Also good music choice.
+Palmer Boudreau Thanks man... I really appreciate it!
+Palmer Boudreau Yeah, I do quite a bit of pulling with it. It has spent more time with a gooseneck behind it than it has without.
Chevrolet Cummins That is badass! Anytruck pulls? I know its tall but....
+Palmer Boudreau I would love to make a couple hooks with it but this truck scales over 10,000 pounds. I think most classes are under 10k. Plus the compounds would put me in with the big dogs which I couldn't compete with.
Chevrolet Cummins Yeah had a feeling something like that. Maybe bring it to car shows?
Love the attention to detail.......Only thing I would have done different is the exhaust out the rear right.....One hell of a a job though.
+Chad Gronsten Thank you. The only way I could have went with exhaust out the rear is if I did without a spare tire. Otherwise, the 5" exhaust pipe would have been clearly visible and I didn't want that.

Crazy build. Great job
Very awesome and super clean its one bad ass truck, I'm not exactly a fan of your wheel and tire combo but then again I didn't put 1500+ hours into the truck so you do you.
+Pablo Picaso Thanks. For the deal I got on those wheels and tires, I didn't even consider any other options.
thats awesome you have a great skill to do that really nice truck
Thank you!
Beautiful Truck and awesome to go along with it
+The Beige Wonder Thank you.
I bought the same truck in a 2000 model year with a 6.5 diesel. I am lowering it which would be the only difference. I would like to do a video on the whole rebuild and wondering if we could speak together about some definite do's and do not's?

Nice truck and great song choice
Thanks for watching. And thank you for your service to our country. Stay tuned... another video will be coming soon.
Why would you make it slow??
What a build it looks amazing!!!!
+Bass Slayr Thanks!
You nailed that sob! Damn nice truck
Bet that costed a grip in parts, great work!👍
Seriously built hah, It's really cool you had the ability to turn the truck on it's side and spray the frame WOW how cool is that?
+Mikey Moo Thanks. There is not one square inch of this truck that has not been rust proofed.
Love it. Assuming u pull with it. I wouldve thrown some nasty swampers on it!
Best truck I ever seen in my life
You should show your bank account before and after. Beautiful truck none the less.
really nice truck man good work
+justin burdett Thanks.
This truck looks badass. It even matches the song to. lol
Thank you!
Awesome work...great looking rig....
+GOTDZUL Thank you!
Sick dually bro
someone hit the lottery?? WOW MINT!!!!!

Thank you!
my dream truck

Thank you!
Buddy that's a amazing build 100
Dude I love the truck👍👍
+Colten Broadwater Thanks. I appreciate it.
Any suggestions on how to put a cummins in a 2002 2500 chevy
I'm considering buying a stock 1998 Chevy 3500 Crew Cab 4x4, 6.5L Diesel DRW to pull a 5th Wheel. Any idea the max towing capacity on a stock 6.4L Diesel?? The 5th Wheel is 12,400lbs dry weight, loaded 15,500lbs?? Any info would help.
Muchas Felicidades Joven Por Su Canal
Very very nice job. The perfect truck.
What did you use to mount the gauges in the overhead console?
So did you have to make/buy a custom transmission bell housing mount for this conversion? Im thinking about doing a Cummins conversion on my 1994 GMC.
I got mine from Destroked. You'll want to get their ring gear too. They are pricey but very nice quality pieces.
Dammit!!! That's a great video,!!!! ( I watch a lot of video"s) but this video is the ( Best).
What runs the ac? Stock GM computer? What did you do for guages? Did you make custom brackets for accessories?
I used the factory AC compressor on the Cummins. I just had to notch the frame. Stock computer but I've been told it's not needed so I'm not sure. I've used all the factory gauges and added more. The only accessory bracket I had to make was for the GM alternator.
the fucking semis are killer dude, nice truck
Hell ya boss! You and I should meet! I have the same disease and I won't rest until I realize it 100%! My goal cosists of 1978 1 ton crew dually most likely a 5.9 swap.
With all that HP you're running you could afford a little more meat on them 22.5s but no dought my friend that is deffinitely a ground pounder!
It does have new tires since the video was made with a more aggressive tread. I like them much better. Looks better too
Wow! very very awesome..that is a beaut......wait I mean BAD ASS truck:) VERY COOL
Thanks a lot!
Very badass truck "for a chevy" lol the only thing I really would have done differently is put a super Dana 60 in so you could utilize wide track and that super sharp turning radius
Yeah it would definitely help with it measuring almost 23'. I had an old '79 sitting around so it became a donor.
Soooo... (a) Do you still have this truck? (b) If someone wanted to buy it, what would it take?
That was really nice nice work
+Scott Thanks!
Good background music.
Pretty bad ass truck!
How is the 4L80 holding up?
Looked like a 454 Vortec, pretty much a boat anchor; but kicks the shit out of the gas "truck" engines made today. Big Block power was the go-to of olden days. Unfortunately emissions ruined that and now even has Diesels in their crosshairs respectively.
How did you control the HE351VGT? I am going to use the same turbo on my compound set up with an HT60. Did you use an electronic control or are you running it off of the engines boost? Thanks,
Awesome truck by the way.
Perfect in all ways i love the body style great build man again perfect
+Korey Grant Thanks a lot!
Chevrolet Cummins you have my gears turning now i have been toying around with putting a cummins in my 07 chevy 2500
I have more time then money
+Korey Grant I cant give you much input on that conversion. If I would have found one of those cheap enough, it would have been in the video instead.
Mine was not cheap but it is a nv4500 5 speed trans it would mate with cummins with right set up but you are right i paid top dollar for this truck
Extended cab 8 foot bed rare rare
What truck did you get the axle out of? I'm looking to SAS my 95 c3500.
@CHEVROLET CUMMINS where did you buy your lift from? looking for a lift for my 97 silverado dually having a hard time. great truck by the way
How is the 80E holding up to the power of the Cummins? In the description, you say it's a built 80E, how built??
Cliff Weatherbee if the 80e can hold up drag racing duramax it can cold up to a cummins
@@codyyellott117 they never had an 80E behind a duramax.
Looks good, if it was mine. I would of kept the stock rims on and added some mud tires LOL!
+chevydiesel350015 Haha. Not a chance. That truck is too heavy for mudding and the suspension is not built for that much travel.
awesome love the diamond plate
Thanks! I questioned how it would look but I think it will work.
That's really impressive
+Peyton Neiman Thank you!
how do you like those mirrors? im ready to do the sas on my cclb. did you body lift for the cummins?
+Bobby Ilejay I love the mirrors. I bought the ones that had all the options like heated, turn signal/marker lights, telescoping and power. They will vibrate at highway speeds but I don't care. Just install them exactly how the directions say. There is a little metal bracket that MUST be installed to help eliminate vibrations. No body lift. The straight axle conversion gives about 5"-6" lift.
How is the 4l80e feel behind the cummins. Working on swapping my truck trying to decide if I want to keep the 4l80e
+1slowv6 The 4L80E works great. You will need a controller since it is an electronic transmission unless you go with a manual valve body. Mine has taken all the power Ive thrown at it and I do towing in excess of 25k pounds gross. If you turn the engine up, you will need all the upgrades for the transmission.
wow... that turned out awesome
Thank you!
How did you tie in Cummins vac/PS pump to hydro boost?
I capped the vacuum pump. For the three lines on the hydro boost, one is a dump to the reservoir, one is pressure line to the hydro boost and the third goes to the steering gear box.
thats an awsome build. wish i had the knowledge to do this.
on another notr, i think door handles from a kodiak would have added a subtle better look.
That is definitely something to consider. Thanks for the idea.
