This is the best truck i’ve ever seen in my life...Great work
Love it! Spare no expense. I love the GMT400 platform. I'm getting ready to do this to a sano, one owner, 94 K2500. The 6.5 shit the bed and I already acquired a 96 donor for the Cummins. Your video is an awesome resource. Thanks!
did you ever finnish it? Im getting ready to put one in my 96 k2500
Very Nice! I just bought a clean 99 with a blown up 7.4 and my first thought was cummins swap.
Great first thought!
I have a 2000 K 2500 crew cab . We completed the swap and I have had the truck on the road since January of this year. I am enjoying it very much. Joel I have watched this video and your others ,I don't know how many times . Joel you have been a great encouragement during my process. I will continue to watch because it helps me to think through some of my processes. Thank so much !
About how much would you say one of these swaps would cost,im interested in swapping my 98 k3500 daully 454 powered
Also love the look of the two tone premium leather it looks beautiful
This is about the best build I have ever seen
Finally a straight up video. Thanks bro!
Alls I want to say is you stand alone in your skill level and attention to detail sir ! I have seen many mechanics that wouldn't make a flea bite on your skills
Awesome build.
Im telling you, if I didn't love my F350 CCAB, I would totally build this! Id love to see a Square Body Suburban get this same treatment! Very nicely done!
Nice build , one thing I wondered is the convertor and if it was for a diesel or the stall speed . The lock up function and shift strategy . Thanks attention to detail really shows
I’d love to swap a 12V 5.9 Cummins married to an Allison into a 1991 Suburban 2500.
Man, your SUBURMMINS looks awesome! And with this beautiful 6bt under the hood, looks sick!
Awsome work!
This truck is something else!! I love it!!
Appreciate that!
Great job, I wish I had kept my square body and swapped out the 6.5 for a cummins
Anything xxxBruno is pure gold
Awesome! Between the larger tires and the increased weight from the Cummins, did you do anything to help the front diff cope? I have a '97 K2500 that I love, but I'm definitely aware that those front diffs are a weak point. SAS is one solution, but that IFS ride is so nice...just curious if you found a satisfactory compromise?
That's almost my dream setup
State of the Art Vehicle!
It was a great build
I have a 1993 k2500 Suburban i am hoping to transform in to something like the Subruno.
Awesome builds,,, love it. I wonder if you guys can finish my project???
Really nice. I like it. I could live with that For the next 20 years+. Travel would be really nice with decent fuel mileage to go with it.
Ever do an older Burban swap. I want to eventually do it to an 86 Suburban 3/4 ton with a 6in lift.
Make it so!
Love that color
Beautiful clean truck. Nice job
Excellent job!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful conversion !what tquke converter did you use thks
What adapter did you use for the trans
I’m in the process of building a compound turbo 12v and I’m looking for a donor truck, how much was your build total?
I want to do this to my 92 dually
Sweet but the new engine you dont have to use any motor mount like muve them and weld new mounts , i have a dodge 1951. Dually flatbed and the donor truck was just like yours dually dodge cummins 1996 you think is easier SWAP the cabin' or SWAP the engine , transmission and dif'????
What torque converter did you use? Was this a diesel prior to doing the swap?
Hey JonesysAutoClub. I have some follow up questions. I will be doing the same conversion soon. Some questions I have are how has the 4l80e held up? More specifically, what stall did you end up using? Hows the US Shift controller working? Anything you would change if you could do it again?
Thanks! I'm sure I'll have more questions but thank you for your time! Good lookin rig!
Está perron la troca..Saludos de México .Hidalgo.
Is the 4L80 transmission holding up to the Cummins
What is a conversion like that running
Hi I was wondering what driveshaft modifications did u have to make u said u have too move the trans back 3 inches so did you have to shorten the rear driveshaft and lengthen the front ?
You siad in the video that you had people asking if you would do such cummins swaps for people. If that is true im very interested in having you do something very close to this in a 98 k2500 chevy.
Yes send an email outlining the scope of work to info@jonesys.com.
Do you need the torsion bar drop if your planning to just run rwd and not 4x4? And modifications done to the firewall? Notch the subframe for the oil sump? Any notching of the frame to clear the engine?
Nope the engine fits perfectly. You need to bend a pinch weld seam a little in the transmission tunnel and the suspension lift helps but is not required.
So i am in the middle of swapping my 82 chevy crew cab with a 12 valve cummins and 10 speed eaton, how did that power steering pump mount up, is it a direct bolt in? Thank you
Could you do it on a 97 1500? Mine has a dead engine and would love to do a diesel swap. Already got the 6" lift, running 35 tires.
To heavy
How? If people swap them into mustangs? Legit question.@@codyyellott117
hows the 4l80 and controller holding up
I Like It. You should try a Turbo 400 transmission and a Gear Vendors GearSplitter/Overdrive. A Non electronic transmission to match the Mechanical 12 valve And the GearVendors unit to split the gears making it a 6 speed Overdrive.Although it is electronically operated, when turned off the transmission operates normally.
4L80E with the programable controller works great.
@@Jonesys I have the same transmission and same programmer on my 2000 k2500 with a 98 5.9 12 valve , I have had it on the road since January of this year. I t works very nice.
beautiful Truck.
Hey thanks!
How can this vehicle retain the 4x4 and the IFS without needing a body lift? Also I'm concerned about the 4L80e not being able to support the beating that the Cummins can throw at it. It the tranny built or does the modified shift timings from the trans controller make up for that? But overall, that's an awesome build, I dream of one day doing a 12v swap into a K3500.
Neither a suspension lift, or body lift is required but they do make the install easier. The transmission has been fully rebuilt with HD clutches, convertor as well as valve body upgrades. The stand alone controller from US shift makes programming easy. The 4L80E is a great very heavy duty transmission and since this vehicle will not see much towing it is a great choice. Thanks for the comments.
who did the transmission upgrades and rebuild? Are you using stock stall speed?
Everything is done in house. Lower than stock HD convertor Alto RED clutches as well as valve body mods and upgrades. This is not Rookie camp.
nice!
The 4L80e is based on the Turbo 400 transmission, the 4L80e has a 25% overdrive, the torque converter locks up 1 to 1, it is the heavy duty model there is a 4L60e that is weaker than the 4L80e ,the e stands for electronic.
There are modified units available at Jegs and related outfits for high stall torque converters or heavy duty converters, the stock one will be the weak link in my opinion. Turbo 400 tranny's were put in motor homes behind 454 big block chevy motors.
Love love LOVE it!!!!
Enjoy you videos are you in Canada? If so what area ? Cheers.
My question is..... How much time. And how much does it take for a set up like this(minus the paint) ...
I have a '98 Burban that j would live to convert
Diesel conversions start about $15K for just mechanical and drivetrain. Interior, lift, paint, bumpers, big tires all add to the cost. More videos about that topic will be posted over the next couple months.
Where are you located?
can that be done done to a 6 lug burban?
@@Jonesys you have amazing work man. And once I have the time I'd love to get a hold of you and get a vehicle projected. Like I said it's my 98 suburban.
I had about 12k in mine and it took about a month to do it.
Can you install a dry sump to an 4bt or 6bt engine to help with clearance ?
What was the engine size of the original engine before the Cummins swap? If I remember correctly, the Chevy/GMC Suburban was available with everything from a 5.7 litre V8 engine to a 7.4 litre V8. By the time this Suburban was offered, you could also order it with a 6.5 litre Detroit Diesel Turbo if one wanted.
7.4L V-8 Gas
Ahhh! Okay. So a 5.9 litre Cummins Diesel would've fit comfortably inside the engine bay.
Hi,
This is amazing work 👍👍.
I have 1996 gmc serria 12Vcummins swaped and its working good .
I have qustion if you can help me on it .
How can i used the orignal dashboard RPM with cummins?
i tray many ways but i get nothing.
Thanks.
could you talk about the transmission please,
Nice work! Very clean
So does it have to be a 4x4 or can it also be done in a 2wd 99 3500
Damn dude nice work
Outstanding 👍🏻😎
What did use for your wiring to work with your instrument cluster
Muchas Felicidades Por Su Canal Joven.
I may have missed it but how were the motor mounts done.?
You guys still doing these conversations?
Do you make the swap parts in this build available for purchase?
not sure if anyone asked this already but does your abs still work without the factory computer being there? I have done this swap on a 97 3500 dually and my abs doesn't work. I have a scan tool that should communicate with abs computer but doesn't . I even bought a used unit and it wont communicate with it either.
Yes, the abs is still hooked up and fully functional.
Are the swap requirements the same for a 99 Chevy k2500
hey bud how far is your back order on the mounts ac relocate and power steering
Think I would have done a straight axel swap...did you consider that when doing this build? Thanks for the video!
That's what I did on my conversion build dana 60
I just wanna know how you made the 37s fit on. The 6 inch lift? With no 3in body? What did u cut off The fender?
Just a little trim on the rear flare.
Where does the DSL-1 E get its input signal? What did you use as a reference to calibrate the tach reading?
The tach signal is pulled from the "W" terminal on the alternator and was calibrated to 750 RPM which is where the cummins is at idle.
Thanks for the reply. That's a very smart and economical solution to that problem. I saw in another detail that you were using a GM alternator and I figured that's what you must have been up to.
What mpg do you get
How did u mount steering pump directly to cover?
Have you done this in a 9th gen suburban 2500?
I’ve got a 1998 gmc suburban that I’m very heavily considering this swap and I’m just curious how you did the 4wd? Any tips to make it easier would be great thanks!!!
It came stock with 4wd. The engine swap did not affect the IFS or the 4WD as the stock transmission and tranfercase were retained.
How well would a 4BT do in a 00 Yukon Denali?
How much for the transmission controller and where can I buy one? Im doing a 4l80e behind my 6bt f700
adventurevehiclesnw.com/
Do you guys make or sell a conversion kit to do this? I have my dads 89 k3500 extended cab dually that I am restoring and would like to cummins swap it. It also came factory with a 454.

Could you put a 6bt in my 94 Chevy 3500
nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing truck, What did you use for motor mounts? Are they custom made?
You can buy the mounts here:adventurevehiclesnw.com/shop/diesel-conversion-parts/chevrolet-gmc/88-99-truck-suburban/1988-1999-chevrolet-gmc-1973-1987-chevrolet-gmc-truck-6bt-cummins-conversion-engine-mounts/
Outstanding.
which tuff country lift is that? the knuckle drop or control arm drop? bad ass rig
Control arm and differential.
JonesysAutoClub how does that ride?
Excellent.
JonesysAutoClub how much would you charge to finish one of these swaps?
Most projects are done on a time plus material basis.
How much would a build like this cost? I have a 99 5.7 Tahoe
Around how much was this build cost around
there is people that like to knock on Cummins motors but they are very tough pulling beast I should know I have truck with a 12 valve in it and I have done a lot with it too so I know a lot about these engines
Donde Compro Los Espejos Retrovisores Laterales De Su Suburban? ??

Would you swap my truck? If so how much? I have a 93 GMC 3500 Dually 7.4L 2wd
I just bought a 1999 3/4 ton with the 454 to do this conversion. I have a buyer for the 454 motor. Do I need to keep the ECU or does it get completely bypassed?
You don't need the ECU. You do need a stand alone transmission controller. I recommend the US shift.
So how hard is it to get all the gauges to work without the ECU? I have a guy wanting to buy the 454 that's in my Suburban but I'm hesitant to sell him the wiring harness and ECU.
Your gauges do not come from the ECU. They do route through the wire harness so if you are selling the gas harness with the 454 you will have to run the sensor wires separately.
why don’t do it on a 94-02 dodge ram v10 gas engine..?
Hi, I’m a high schooler looking to buy my first truck. I have my eye on a 1997 dodge Cummins that has about 240k miles on the engine. It’s a two door with a lift kit. I wanted to get your opinion to see if the $9,000 that it’s listed at is worth it?
Things are worth what people are willing to pay so if that is the best truck that you can find for that price then yes it is worth it. Can you find other trucks that will get you back an forth to high school for less $$$? Absolutely...... I started with 1977 4 door 6 cylinder chevrolet nova as my high school car.
Cummins owners are high, I'd rather buy a 96-00 GMT400 with a Vortec 5.7 instead as a first vehicle. Mine never left me stranded and I wasn't nice to it. Trust me I wanted a Cummins when I was 16/17 too but if shit broke it wasn't cheap to replace parts.
Awesome video! You mentioned moving the eng/trans back 3" but you don't mention anything about having to modify the firewall to get everything to clear? Did the firewall get modified in any way to make room for the engine? thanks, really enjoyed this video!!!
The firewall does not need to be modified but there is a pinch weld that needs to be bent back to provide more clearance in the transmission tunnel.
Where is u r shop licated
We're in Washington State, but we're closed to the public and not accepting new customers.
Hi buddy
where did you get the bumper
MOVE
Very very impressive swap, my only two questions is why retain the suburban transmission? and why not instead of doing all this hard conversion shit and just buy a ford 7.3l excursion? They're badass and bulletproof. lol
Ford vs Chevrolet. International vs Cummins. It all boils down to personal preference. My vote obviously goes to the fully mechanical diesel that gets 18MPG and the simple programable transmission controller. Wrap that with the suburban sheet metal and great leather interior and you have a package that beats the overly complicated 7.3L excursion everyday of the week.
can you put a bt4 in a 95 Suburban 2 wheel drive
U can put one in just about anything.
Wow 😯
Would you be able to do a swap into a 1/2 suburban?
We will only install a 4BTs in a 1/2 ton Suburbans. A 6BT is too heavy for 1/2 ton suspension and it builds too much torque for the 1/2 ton transmission, transfercase and differentials.
How much did this swap cost
Didnt show dash when started.
Any codes?
The gas ECM has been deleted and the check engine light removed. Cummins 12 valve is not computer controlled. No Codes LOL
Lol good one frootloops!
seems like overkill when a 4bt would do.. what airfilter is that?
4BT is not a good choice for a vehicle like this when a 6BT fits perfect makes more power and cost the same if not less to install than a 4BT. Flex93312 is totally correct. FYI the air filter is a WIX 46637.
I have seen many suburbans/tahoes etc with 4bt's they are much more economical and make big power (especially p-pump variant) the 6BT is overkill for this application. I love my 4bt in my CJ works well and more efficient than a 6bt
6bt is overkill in a 3/4 ton truck with 37" tires? OK...........
4bts are used in a lot of power wagons with the same spec.. no issue.. claiming that a 4bt cannot work properly in this application is foolish...
I think I'm going to take the 6BT out this weekend and install a 130HP P-Pump 2400RMP 4BT because clearly the 6BT in a 3/4 ton truck with 37" tires is overkill. The Subruno would work great with those specs. Stay tuned for that video. Cheers.
No cold start? 😭
nice job!!!
Im searching the video where you drive it
I want to do this to me 2006 1500 Suburban
