Looked like a 454 Vortec, pretty much a boat anchor; but kicks the shit out of the gas "truck" engines made today. Big Block power was the go-to of olden days. Unfortunately emissions ruined that and now even has Diesels in their crosshairs respectively.

5 years too late but that is one of the coolest trucks ive seen. I have the last year of that body style i bought 2 years ago with 32k original miles on it. Now that it just passed 100k ive been looking into a 12 valve conversion. Hopefully this winter

Very nice truck, I put the 454 in my Tahoe dozen years ago and now I’ve got a 12 valve coming to replace that.. solid axle.. great minds think alike 👍

Why would you make it slow??

I have a 12v with a bad transmission an a Chevy 2500HD with a 4L80E Billet with a blown motor. Do the 4L80E handle the power good would you recommend it or say go with a different transmission Aswell as pulling with it ???????

Im gonna be getting a 1999 dodge ram 1500 with a 360 gas engine its been in the family since it was nearly new. I want to put a 12 valve cummins in it with a 6 speed any advice? I plan on finding a set of 3/4 ton axles for it
