- We document the restoration of a 1981 Chevy K10 Square Body short bed truck. The truck was in rough shape when we got it, with a lot of rust and body damage. We started by replacing the passenger side rear panel, then removed the rest of the rust and made patches. We did a lot of body work to get the truck looking straight, then primed and painted it white. Finally, we cut and buffed the paint to give it a show-quality finish.
This video is a great resource for anyone who is thinking about restoring a square body truck. We show you the entire process, from start to finish, so you can see what's involved. We also share some tips and tricks that we learned along the way. If you're a fan of square body trucks, or if you're just interested in seeing a restoration project from start to finish, then be sure to check out this video!

Love this vid I’m trying to restore a 1987 Chevy when I’m not in school

That truck actually looked pretty good before you pointed out all the rust and dents. You guys did an amazing job 👏 👏👏 White paint is kind of hard to do but you killed it.
Thank you very much amino! It turned out great!
Incredible work fellas. Thanks for sharing. I need to 95 chevy with cancer over there for you remove the cancer. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT

@@IronHorseGarage listening I am working on the Dukw 🦆
Did I mention first??
Really great video. I couldn’t comment more earlier; my wife said I was swerving around too much. This was a nice job!
Yee haw!
Had a 1983 3/4 ton GMC about 10 years ago that I wish I had still.. Needed a lot of work when I got it so I took care of the mechanical stuff first. Was using to haul landscaping material around so the bed was pretty gnarly looking but it did the job.
Right on, still plenty out there. Thank you very much for watching!
Always enjoy this video. People are going to accuse you of being professional, be careful.
Hahaha, thanks Joey!
Great video! Awesome work. One question: Shouldn't that paint fully cure before wax?
Absolutely, the video is put together so it looks fast, but this whole process took months. The clear should sit for a couple weeks before wet sanding, buffing, and wax. Thank you very much for watching!
You should have pulled the glass. Use weld through primer on your replacement panel/patches . Nice work!
You should always pull the glass but it's not always feasible. Thank you for watching!

Thank you very much sir!!
"Iron Horse" was/is HMH-461's call sign. Any connection?
Nope, but that's awesome!
The voice narration is so cringe, it's really hard to watch, that and the music overlay... Yikes! I had to stop watching.
Well it didn't scare you off enough not to leave a comment!
lol
These dudes are awesome. Very impressive.
Thank you very much, we appreciate it!
Nice!
Thank you very much sir!!
Hey Horsemen. Good video. Keep up the quality work. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
Thank you very much Andy!!
I have a question is it more money to do that or just buy a new door or new quarter panel?
A lot of the time it's cheaper to buy an entire panel if what you have is extensively damaged. If you can work the area in a short time, it would save some money. So you just need access the time vs money. Thank you for watching!
@@IronHorseGarage thank you for you responding back . Some channels don't write back or if they do they only do a few that's it. But thank you. I've seen a 1978 Chevy Silverado k20 4x4 that runs but it needs some love. I wasn't sure if I should get it because all the work but they price seems good . But not sure if the 4x4 works or not and from the pics it don't look like a lot of cancer or rust on it only in a few spots . Well that's what I can see in the pic . The guy wanted $2,700 but is willing to negotiate. That's why I was wondering if it's cheaper to fix the spots or just get a whole new panel or door or hood .
No problem at all. Just make sure to ask questions and inspect everything. Check the floorboards and cab corners, also the wheel wells. Good luck with the purchase!
@@IronHorseGarage thank you
