My little tidbit of info to throw in is that Sean Murray, Binx as human form, had his dialogue dubbed because he had been living in Australia and had picked up the accent, so they had Jason Marsden, the voice of the cat, do all the dialogue because it sounded more "Old World". Love this movie! The witches survived being burned because of the black flame candle, they were pretty much immortal for that one night but dead at sunrise unless they managed to suck the life from some child.
This is a Halloween staple for me, I watch every year while waiting to hand out candy to the kiddos. It's so funny, has a couple of great musical numbers, and is really quote-able. It's over the top, but in the best way possible, and for 1993, I think was really well done.
Hocus Pocus was really the catalyst that made Halloween such a huge thing for millennials. And blew it up into what it is today love this! Also fun fact the animatronic cat used for binx in this movie was also used as Salem for the 90s/2000s Sabrina the teenage witch series.

I use to get the song sarah's sings "come little children" stuck in my head too and liked the cover from Erutan ( aka Kate Covington) who added more lyrics to make a full song. The book made of skin use to freak me out a little but I also thought it was really cool extra to have a living book so to speak. And I seriously wanted a talking cat as a kid because of Binx even though I'm mostly a dog person lol. I also thought it was a nice touch to make Billy "a good zombie" as max puts it because he hates Winifred for murdering him of course. Billy was played by legendary creature artist Doug Jones who has played creatures most notably in Guillermo Del Toro films like Pan's Labyrinth, Shape of Water, and Hellboy. I literally have a coffee mug that quotes Hocus Pocus "Another glorious morning!...Makes me Sick".

The first time I watched this was in school, we watched it on VHS in class, must be more than 25 years ago. And I remember loving it so much. This brings back memories 😆
My favorite Halloween movie…besides Rocky Horror Picture Show! That ones not technically a Halloween movie but since the showings happen around Halloween I count it lol. I go to viewings and performances of it every year! Hocus Pocus is an absolute Halloween staple, I’m not sure why anyone would be mad about it. Camp is so engrained into Halloween! As for a campy horror movie….Freaky is super fun! It’s a horror/comedy version of Freaky Friday/The Hot Chick and as someone terrified of scary movies it had just the right balance of slasher-flick and comedy.
I’ve said it before. Halloween doesn’t always equal horror and horror doesn’t always equal Halloween. This is a classic. There’s a lot of amazing Halloween movies that aren’t horror (also looking at Young Frankenstein which you absolutely need to check out at some point). It’s a happy and fun movie. Garry and Penny Marshall with their cameos is always fun. And I love that they recognized that they had Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in the cast so they knew they needed to put a musical number in.
I love the hardcore horror movies but this is a classic. So many memories 🥺 As for the next reactions, I would love for you to react to more A24 horror films like suspiria or saint maud!
i’d like to see your reaction to the original version of the craft.. when i was younger i put it on thinking that it was a normal teen movie and ended up traumatised 😭
This is my childhood movie, this and Halloween Town, growing up in the 90’s, damn I’m about to be 30 on the 29th this month, i like Sarah lol, I had the biggest crush on Max and Binx. I always watch this even when it’s not Halloween.
I can’t think of many examples where someone makes a joke or says something funny that gets a reaction other than stone cold silence (the chandler from friends effect) but this is one. That it was one of the bully’s and seemed unscripted and genuine but stayed in character is a nice touch.
that "bless you" followed by the horror scream is so iconic. my sister and i always died of laughter also a line my sister and i have quoted forever whenever we ate chocolate was mary's "ewww chocolate" hahaahahaah this dang movie... also still the best friggin movie with the broom flying. it actually looks real. beautiful
This gives me so nostalgia for some reason!♥️ Enjoyed your reaction!😊 I would really like to recommend a studio Ghibli movie, it’s one of the more recent ones and called „When Marnie was There“ 🙏🏻 It’s such a beautiful story and hit me personally really hard! Definitely check this one out anytime soon😊

I saw this in the theater when it first came out... and was in the restroom for the whole "burned alive in the kiln" part. That surprised me on my first watch through after it came out on video and I got to see it again. :D
a "gender reveal on the forest", THAT KILL ME
this is my favorite halloween movie! idgaf if other people were mad, i loved watching u guys react to this. I mean it's a classic. Halloween is so much more than horror movies, like to me this is the ultimate halloween movie because it takes place ON Halloween while also dealing with classic Halloween themes and characters.
What's funny is that you mentioned Swifters as the brooms and StarKid (yeah, you remember those guys) did a Zoom reading of this script and 2 of the "sisters" used Swifters while the last used a guitar. It is pretty hilarious if you ever want to watch it. They also do readings of Scream and Addams Family Values. True to form, they are extremely funny. Just thought I would let you know that your comments came true in a sense. 😉
Definitely not disappointed and really glad you guys check this one out because in my opinion it represents basically everything there used to be about me and a kid that I think we've lost keep up the good work you guys rock 👍🤘
i hate how they get so irked by like max at the start for not being into getting free candy....he is not just mad that he has to trick or treat..hes sick of the whole town caring so much sick of moving sick he got rejected sick of his parents sick of bullies sick of his little sister..its part of his "arc"...its not just he has a bad attitude or he hates dressing up or asking for candy at his age or taking his sister out...its a lot of things the film set up that explain why hes so bummed and down and out..
So excited for this reaction, one of my all time favorite halloween movies growing up!!
You two have easily became my favorite reactors on youtube, I cannot wait to watch Arcane along with you!
The actor who played Thackery Binx/ cat ( Sean Murray), plays the Agent Timothy McGee on the Tv show NCIS.
So many memories 🥺
As for the next reactions, I would love for you to react to more A24 horror films like suspiria or saint maud!
This was awesome. I don't think you have to do strictly pure horror. In fact I think you should do SLEEPY HOLLOW with Johnny Depp.
i’d like to see your reaction to the original version of the craft.. when i was younger i put it on thinking that it was a normal teen movie and ended up traumatised 😭
Oh my god, I’ve been trying to remember the name of this film since I watched it years ago. Thank you guys. Keep it up.
When the teacher calls you a dazed Californian pothead surfer, just call them all diet Irish people lol
I LOVE that you reacted to this classic :)
Great movie to see in theaters and the when the zombie cought up the dust and mothas he really did that
Very good Halloween movie!
This movie is perfection 🎃
This is my childhood movie, this and Halloween Town, growing up in the 90’s, damn I’m about to be 30 on the 29th this month, i like Sarah lol, I had the biggest crush on Max and Binx. I always watch this even when it’s not Halloween.
Hocus Pocus is one of my favorite movies EVER!
when Dani and Alison are dancing in the field in front of the fountain it's the same fountain used for the opening of "Friends"
I love this movie! I love that they made sure to throw in a scene with Bette Midler's amazing voice.
Bette is such a wonderful singer in all the movies she sings
This one is a favourite of mne back in the day 🤣. Also why is nine tail so cute 😍
I can’t think of many examples where someone makes a joke or says something funny that gets a reaction other than stone cold silence (the chandler from friends effect) but this is one. That it was one of the bully’s and seemed unscripted and genuine but stayed in character is a nice touch.
that "bless you" followed by the horror scream is so iconic. my sister and i always died of laughter
also a line my sister and i have quoted forever whenever we ate chocolate was mary's "ewww chocolate" hahaahahaah this dang movie...
also still the best friggin movie with the broom flying. it actually looks real. beautiful
“AMUCK! Amuckamuckamuck” is still something that makes me laugh at age 33 😜
This gives me so nostalgia for some reason!♥️ Enjoyed your reaction!😊
I would really like to recommend a studio Ghibli movie, it’s one of the more recent ones and called „When Marnie was There“ 🙏🏻 It’s such a beautiful story and hit me personally really hard!
Definitely check this one out anytime soon😊
Wow, my favourite movie! Thanks! 😁🧡
This movie made me cry at the end. EVERY TIME
Watching this in preparation for the upcoming sequel! So happy to watch you both watch this for the first time, it's delightful!
