Mary barks because her dad was a blood hound so that’s why she can smell out children and barks. Sarah’s dad was the village idiot so that’s why she’s “ditzy” but I actually think she’s pretty smart.

Fun fact, the cat isn't CGI it's actually an animatronics robot , the exact same animatronics cat used as the character "Salem the cat" from Sabrina the teenage witch from 98 to 03
It's not the exact one, but the concept is similar.

One or two shots are early CGI but yes I think that’s why it’s aged well as it was mostly practical.

I went to Salem over the summer and got to go to so many of the locations from this movie. My favorite was the graveyard but It was all really cool!!!
A friend of mine wrote “Rise Headless and Ride”, the Jason Crane series. It’s about an updated version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and there’s a lot of witches in it. So, he moved to Sleepy Hollow and was given access to areas that are not allowed by the public. He now is in Salem continuing Books 4-6. Again, the chamber of commerce gave him access to places all through Salem and they let him go alone so that he could get the true flavor of each place. He has full access to all of the documents from the witch trials plus input by modern day witches that live there. In both cities, he makes sure that every street, every store, real people of the past are correct. (He also wrote me in as a character and I was so glad to find out when I read it that I didn’t die!! 💀🎃

OMG, there's a character on NCIS named Timothy McGee? I've seen a little bit of NCIS, but I briefly knew a kid with that name, he was from my old church and he died. Poor baby drowned in a swimming pool when he was two years old. His funeral service was one of the most heartbreaking days of my life to this day.

Bette Midler hold up the whole movie just by herself. It’s a pity that the director/ producer didn’t spend a few seconds more for her musicality (to hear her singing one full song). Ok, I’m might be a little bit to fangirl-ish here 😜.

My mom was watching this on and off after she had surgery. She was on heavy pain killers at the time and was loopy from anesthesia, so throughout the movie she kept waking up and saying “this is on again!?” And was literally pissed off because she thought we were forcing her to watch it over and over. Was kinda funny.
Actually it’s very realistic as far as the kids at school being all giddy and happy. Since it’s Halloween in Salem after all 🧡🖤

A few months ago, an apartment building in Miami collapsed. They found a black cat who had escaped the building alive. The cat's name was Binx.

If it was filmed today they would have just used bad CGI
The reason why they had different deaths in the end is because Winni stepped on the graveyard which turned her into a stone before the sun rised completely. Shortly after that, her sisters explode because of the sun and Winni still remaind as a statue/stone. Since there is going to be a sequel, I think they will be able to bring Winni back because she died in a different way and then she will try to bring her sisters back with the help of the book. I am not sure if this is the way they will do the sequel but its the most that make sense to me at least xD Btw I loved your reaction it was very wholesome im glad you watched this movie its literally my childhood ^^

I dont remember that detail at all i havent seen this movie in years tho to remember that i always had in mind that she remaind a stone cuzz when i heard that they are making a sequel i tried to put the pieces together how they are going to bring them back so i always had that detail in mind that Winni turned to a stone and didnt explode. The sequel also had a book(not 100% if the new movie follows it). I really didnt like it, but if i remember correctly, Winnie, Sarah, and Mary didn't actually totally perish, but were sent to hell. Max and Allison's kid and her friends visit the old house and summon the sisters back by way of a ouija board. And there also was a 4th Sanderson sister. It was..just.a mess and a disservice to the movie.. Hopefully the movie won't follow the book to a T, so maybe it'll actually be good lmao.

idk how this movie BOMBED at the box office when it first came out but it's definitely become so iconic and a cult classic. I watch it every Halloween and sometimes when i just need a pick me up because it makes me so nostalgic but it's also just so fun.
This film is so big in the U.S. during Halloween, it's literally all that plays but you can't not watch it! Can't wait for the Hocus Pocus 2 movie!

This movie is sensational, I dare say it is one of the greatest Halloween classics. And curious fact: they actually flew during the movie. The film's producers used steel cables so the actresses could be hoisted up and so the flight scenes were very realistic.

you would never guess Bette Midlers' Jewish by the amount of ham in this performance.
Doug Jones who played Billy Butcherson actually held real moths in his mouth for the scene when he cuts his stitches to speak, so cool!
I don't know why people miss this but, they didn't arbitrarily have different deaths. Winnie turned to stone first because she stood on hallowed ground then turned to dust from the sun like the other two.
My brother and I, when we we're younger, would yell out "boooook" when we wanted one another to come to our room. Such a great movie.
It’s an American classic! It’s on almost every station all throughout October. I’ve watched this with my family and friends every year since I was kid & so has most people over here. 😊

Thackery is played by Sean Murray, who has played Special Agent Timothy Mcgee in NCIS since the first series. After Gibbs he is the longest serving actor in the programme.

This film was directed by Kenny Ortega, the Director of the High School Musical trilogy and the Descendants trilogy. If you enjoy the movie, they have a sequel coming out next fall with the original Sanderson Sisters. And if you love Thora Birch, Danni, check her out in the movie Monkey Trouble it is another one that will have you laughing.

I grew up watching Hocus Pocus. I named my first cat Binx I named him after the cat in hocus pocus. I had to put my cat down year and 3 months ago. It's been so hard for me to watch this movie because of my cat. I will always love this movie

Kids going home from school on Halloween in the US looks exactly like the kids going home In the movie. lol You can also see the teachers being the first ones out of the door practically running away. My parents are teachers and I worked at a school for a while. Halloween at school is crazy but it is also so much fun. Even if halloween is on the weekend Friday is insane. Teachers hate it but I love it lol
Teachers in our school had costume contest every yr! I dunno if they win any $$ but their costumes / makeup were fantastic!

This came out when I was 5. I lived in Salem, MA 2 blocks from Max's house. Its still there! I don't remember them filming but I know it was a big deal. I mustve watched this like 1000 times as a kid.
There are a lot of fun places in the US to spend Halloween but as a kid in Salem it really was the ultimate Halloween vibe. Everyone there claims to be descended from a witch from the Salem Witch Trials.

Allison's house is actually the house of Judge Ropes, Judge of the Salem which trials. The school is at Salem town commons. The dance party is the museum on Essex st. I havnt been to the village yet because it's been under repairs often. Love the Devine Mrs. M

I just watched this movie for the first time also. We don´t celebrate halloween here in Czech Republic so I wasn´t around these kinds of movies so it was fun experiencing this as an adult. The witches must me icons and they are so hillarious.

I was a strange child. While everyone was into spice girls I was obsessed with the Titanic movie soundtrack, Neil Diamond and Bette Midler. Also Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Lol!

My working theory is that the Sandersons suck the soul out of the victim first (To absorb their youth), and then they Eat what's left over after the soul has absorbed. This would explain why they show the desire to EAT Danny in some scenes but in others they only want to take her youth.
