Hi there. I can't seem to get the gray plastic part out easily like you did. What exactly did you do to lift that piece? I've played back your video 7 times now and still don't see how it's done.
@@Hopper_Gud if you take a very small Flat head and gently lift around the edges of the piece it should pop out. You may need needle nose pliers to get piece out if it falls into control.
On ps4 O bought a controller named nacon revolution unlimited pro. IT cost me 130 dollars. Which is expensive af. I got it for christmas and now all ready the left joystick moves by itself and the right looks down by itself. How do i fix this, it is different than a xbox controller.
My 2 Xbox 360 controllers have served me faithfully for about 5 years now and are flawless. The Xbox one started drifting badly not long after I bought it. Things just aren't built like they used to be.
My 360 had battery recognition problems and would stop when they vibrated. I had to resort to using foil to fix them but even that eventually stopped working... : /
@@AbridgedPwned u know i had the same problem on the 360 , what i did is that i disabled rumble feedback in all games. But afterwards I enable rumble feedback to see if it works for some reason, and the rumble feedback works now without turning off my controller. weird xd

natsu dragneel my most recent controller i got shorts out and has this problem i had to disable the vibration bc it would short out the controller and it would shut off
@Nik lol good job on that 4.0 GPA. and yeah it was hard finding the right screwdriver for me too, but once i found it, the fix was easy to apply and ended up working
May 2020: used on a basic XBox One controller purchased in November 2019. After 6 months the left stick was sending Drift which made menu surfing impossible. Selecting a rifle in COD was like playing wheel of fortune. I followed the instructions in this video and it works great now.

@@hello7968 I sure did for me. All you have to do is remove that grey plastic part. That's it. It's tricky though because its clicked in somewhat like a telephone connection. I had to release it from the inside of the joystick to unclick it then slide it upwards. No more problems for me

I was hesitant about doing this but after taking 30 min getting the screws out, took the plastic pieces out and put it back together and so far it’s worked! The controller was only like a year old or so too so it saved me money!!
Had the same issue with the left joystick - tried with air, a drop of circuit grease, blowing with my mouth, cleaning with a q-tip, but nothing worked since it was clearly a mechanical problem: removed that plastic piece and it suddenly stopped moving forward on its own. ...Wow! Still working in 2024! It's still a bit stiff and not entirely perfect, but at least it isn't moving anymore which was the most annoying issue. Thank you!
Did you guys have problems with clicking thumbstick after removing this? It did fix the problem so I was excited but now I’m concerned cause it feels a little clicking when I rotate it. Also clicking it down for sprint feels loose
LizardsCrazy the elite uses the same cheap ass modules as well lol the Xbox One controller is the most cheap ass defective shit I’ve ever seen, and I’m getting ready to invest in a razor wildcat or razor wolverine controller for my XboxOneX ProjectScorpio edition for sure as I went through about 40 controllers in the first year after launch of the Xbox One, and I actually got rid of the Xbox one because of the controller issues as I was sick, and tired of running back, an forth to Walmart or GameStop exchanging these damn things FYI Xbox 360 controllers used high quality metal thumb stick modules as they were built like tanks, and i can’t believe how multi billion dollar corporation felt it was alright to use these cheap ass plastic garbage modules in the Xbox one as it was simply disingenuous to say the least as it really pisses me off as to why they didn’t stick with the high quality metal ones of the Xbox 360 controllers which were vastly superior as I’ve never once broken a controller in 30+ years as a gamer on any console until the Xbox one, and apparently the PS4 controllers use identical cheap plastic modules yet I’ve never once broken one or had stick drift on a PS4 DualShock, and so if they use the same modules I don’t understand it but yea who knows lol it is what it is that’s why I’m gonna save up to get the razor wildcat or razor Wolverine for my XboxOneX

This worked for me also. For anyone struggling to remove the plastic piece, be patient and carefully use the screwdriver as a wedge from the angle shown in the video, mine was a bit difficult to remove. Also, for those worried about the warranty, the easy fix for not destroying the sticker is to use a heat gun or blow dryer for 10-20 seconds then gently peel it from the edge with your screwdriver and tweezers, you'll only have to peel it halfway.
Hell yeah, this worked for me. Took less than 10 minutes the biggest part was just getting the appropriate screwdrivers that would fit lol. Now both of my controllers work!
I am slowly chipping the plastic away into the abyss of my controller. It is very hard to get that piece off. (Edit: use a knife and go from the top down wiggle it in there I was very easy with a knife)
Such an easy fix too. I was about to be pissed because 4/6 of my controllers all had the same stick issues and a couple of those controllers were barely used
Oops I lied. Couple of the controllers still have stick issues occasionally depending on what direction I move it in.. the drift is still slightly there or I don't get full range of motion

I "Longsword Silkbind" countered a Rathalos mid-air while my R analog stick was stuck spinning 360 degrees... most beautiful thing I've ever seen that I had no control over in a video game... it was the finishing blow... Doug Brown Nah I just bought a new controller but you can send it in to be fixed to either Microsoft or any game store that does repairs near you but it costs as much as a default controller. also I wouldn’t recommend trying to do this yourself especially with an elite I did find a vid showing how to disassemble it but it seems quite intricate

DO NOT TAKE OUT THE GRAY PIECE. I learned that the hard way. If you take it out, the white stub that clicks down won’t be able to stay in place and therefore, you will have a bigger problems clicking L3. I was actually able to glue that gray piece down with ultra strong super glue. It still doesn’t feel like it’s new again, but it doesn’t give me any more problems. YOU NEED THAT GRAY PIECE. If you do end up taking it out, just note, it won’t be fixed without that piece. If anyone knows the name for these gray pieces and where to order them, I would love to know. Because one of my controllers is missing that piece. I need to buy an extra one in order to glue it back in to fix it. ALSO.. If you do end up trying to glue it back in, be very careful. On my first try glueing it in, I got stuck drift very badly so I had to try it again. Good luck fellow gamers.

I was playing fortnite yesterday and I lost 5 easy games because my character was walking by himself but somehow I still got 2 wins when it happens constantly
Ellenitu RNR I bought 2 elite controllers and both have loose headphone jacks one more so than the other and one has a plastic sound (water bottle) in the right joystick for about a few Fortnite games then it went away. Should I send the new one back with that noise? I’m sending the 1st one back. Both were purchased in less than a month with minimal playing time. I also had drift 3 times in 4 hours of playing time back to back.
PROJECT ANUBIS bullshit I’ve had my elite controller for 3 years. The bumpers are loose, grips fell off, and sticks drift from time to time but that didn’t happen in less than a month like yours did. Man, take better care of your controllers or something.
I know this video is old but HOLY SHIT! It worked! I’ve never been happier. I bought a custom controller, had my gamer tag and favorite color, like I was so happy when I got it. But just like you said it lasted 3 months then died. I bought the special screwdriver on Amazon for 5$ then popped the piece off and it worked! I can’t thank you enough for the money I saved. Cheers!
This fixed the drifting, and it's definitely a lot better than what it was, but did you notice the stick feeling a little looser than before? It's not a big deal in games that use the right stick for camera, but in Skate 3, for example, where the right stick is a major player, it just feels a little sloppy. Just curious if this is unique to me. Either way, I thank you greatly sir, this saved me from taking a fishbat to the thing like it owed me money.
For those wondering if this will work on an Xbox Series S controller in May 2023, the answer is YES. I literally tried everything else first and this was the last resort because I figured I've got nothing to lose. It WORKED. The video is a little blurry and its hard to be 100% sure what he's pointing at but its the grey plastic bit that surrounds the little white thing that sticks out on the side. Get a pair of tweezers and just pull it out. That's it. I was THIS close to buying a new controller.

Januarius of Scythia Minor same except I destroyed my controller in my backyard by smashing it on a tree several times and smashing it on concrete and letting my dogs bite it till it wore out.then for Christmas I got a custom one.
I did this just last night trying to fix a sticky button that would still stay sticky after using rubbing alcohol on it. I just bent the inside in half and felt pretty happy afterwards haha
I have minor up vertical drift on my controller(left stick) and I’m afraid that taking it off won’t solve my problem but instead make it worse. If anyone had similar problem as me please tell me if it worked

I just had to remove the joysticks and just like that my remote was working great. Man my y x and a was tripping and my left joystick. I was so happy when it was fixed.

There is a little clip on the inside of the silver circle that is small but is holding it in place. Sorry I can't be more specific, let me know if you need more details. Btw this is on an Xbox one s controller, not sure if it makes a difference

Just used this method to fix one of my wireless controllers, and it worked! Thank you so much! I’d be willing to bet they put those parts on there because they know exactly what kind of problems they will cause and they know most people will just ditch it and go buy another.
My controller has lasted me since the xbox came out with thousands of hours of use before it started doing this. I took the part out, it kept drifting. I put it back in, it stopped.
DO NOT DO THIS. This doesn't "fix" anything, it will appear like it does for a couple days, but it causes a jojystick drift that is unfixable, clean oyur controller with compressed air, and if that doesnt work, the censor is broken, DO NOT REMOVE THE GREY THING. That's NOT whats causing it.
Many people seem to see this does help. Maybe you didn't do it right or as he said "many people this seems to work for" not all people. You might be the unlucky person.
I've bought 3 elite controllers in the past year and they're all experiencing stick drift got rid of the plastic part still having the issue $175 each lmao

Once I did this I feel like the joystick get stuck on something and occasionally any suggestions. Never did before this fix. Drift is gone, this is just a little annoying though.

Had the same issue with the left joystick - tried with air, a drop of circuit grease, blowing with my mouth, cleaning with a q-tip, but nothing worked since it was clearly a mechanical problem: removed that plastic piece and it suddenly stopped moving forward on its own. ...Wow! Still working in 2024!
It's still a bit stiff and not entirely perfect, but at least it isn't moving anymore which was the most annoying issue.

Did you guys have problems with clicking thumbstick after removing this? It did fix the problem so I was excited but now I’m concerned cause it feels a little clicking when I rotate it. Also clicking it down for sprint feels loose

LizardsCrazy the elite uses the same cheap ass modules as well lol the Xbox One controller is the most cheap ass defective shit I’ve ever seen, and I’m getting ready to invest in a razor wildcat or razor wolverine controller for my XboxOneX ProjectScorpio edition for sure as I went through about 40 controllers in the first year after launch of the Xbox One, and I actually got rid of the Xbox one because of the controller issues as I was sick, and tired of running back, an forth to Walmart or GameStop exchanging these damn things
FYI Xbox 360 controllers used high quality metal thumb stick modules as they were built like tanks, and i can’t believe how multi billion dollar corporation felt it was alright to use these cheap ass plastic garbage modules in the Xbox one as it was simply disingenuous to say the least as it really pisses me off as to why they didn’t stick with the high quality metal ones of the Xbox 360 controllers which were vastly superior as I’ve never once broken a controller in 30+ years as a gamer on any console until the Xbox one, and apparently the PS4 controllers use identical cheap plastic modules yet I’ve never once broken one or had stick drift on a PS4 DualShock, and so if they use the same modules I don’t understand it but yea who knows lol it is what it is that’s why I’m gonna save up to get the razor wildcat or razor Wolverine for my XboxOneX

This worked for me also. For anyone struggling to remove the plastic piece, be patient and carefully use the screwdriver as a wedge from the angle shown in the video, mine was a bit difficult to remove. Also, for those worried about the warranty, the easy fix for not destroying the sticker is to use a heat gun or blow dryer for 10-20 seconds then gently peel it from the edge with your screwdriver and tweezers, you'll only have to peel it halfway.
Hell yeah, this worked for me. Took less than 10 minutes the biggest part was just getting the appropriate screwdrivers that would fit lol. Now both of my controllers work!

I am slowly chipping the plastic away into the abyss of my controller. It is very hard to get that piece off. (Edit: use a knife and go from the top down wiggle it in there I was very easy with a knife)

Oops I lied. Couple of the controllers still have stick issues occasionally depending on what direction I move it in.. the drift is still slightly there or I don't get full range of motion

Doug Brown Nah I just bought a new controller but you can send it in to be fixed to either Microsoft or any game store that does repairs near you but it costs as much as a default controller. also I wouldn’t recommend trying to do this yourself especially with an elite I did find a vid showing how to disassemble it but it seems quite intricate

DO NOT TAKE OUT THE GRAY PIECE. I learned that the hard way. If you take it out, the white stub that clicks down won’t be able to stay in place and therefore, you will have a bigger problems clicking L3. I was actually able to glue that gray piece down with ultra strong super glue. It still doesn’t feel like it’s new again, but it doesn’t give me any more problems. YOU NEED THAT GRAY PIECE. If you do end up taking it out, just note, it won’t be fixed without that piece. If anyone knows the name for these gray pieces and where to order them, I would love to know. Because one of my controllers is missing that piece. I need to buy an extra one in order to glue it back in to fix it. ALSO.. If you do end up trying to glue it back in, be very careful. On my first try glueing it in, I got stuck drift very badly so I had to try it again. Good luck fellow gamers.

Ellenitu RNR I bought 2 elite controllers and both have loose headphone jacks one more so than the other and one has a plastic sound (water bottle) in the right joystick for about a few Fortnite games then it went away. Should I send the new one back with that noise? I’m sending the 1st one back. Both were purchased in less than a month with minimal playing time. I also had drift 3 times in 4 hours of playing time back to back.
PROJECT ANUBIS bullshit I’ve had my elite controller for 3 years. The bumpers are loose, grips fell off, and sticks drift from time to time but that didn’t happen in less than a month like yours did. Man, take better care of your controllers or something.
I know this video is old but HOLY SHIT! It worked! I’ve never been happier. I bought a custom controller, had my gamer tag and favorite color, like I was so happy when I got it. But just like you said it lasted 3 months then died. I bought the special screwdriver on Amazon for 5$ then popped the piece off and it worked! I can’t thank you enough for the money I saved. Cheers!
This fixed the drifting, and it's definitely a lot better than what it was, but did you notice the stick feeling a little looser than before? It's not a big deal in games that use the right stick for camera, but in Skate 3, for example, where the right stick is a major player, it just feels a little sloppy. Just curious if this is unique to me. Either way, I thank you greatly sir, this saved me from taking a fishbat to the thing like it owed me money.

For those wondering if this will work on an Xbox Series S controller in May 2023, the answer is YES. I literally tried everything else first and this was the last resort because I figured I've got nothing to lose.
It WORKED. The video is a little blurry and its hard to be 100% sure what he's pointing at but its the grey plastic bit that surrounds the little white thing that sticks out on the side. Get a pair of tweezers and just pull it out. That's it. I was THIS close to buying a new controller.

You have to really get in there i think newer controls have them clipped from the inside but i just jammed it out

There is a little clip on the inside of the silver circle that is small but is holding it in place. Sorry I can't be more specific, let me know if you need more details. Btw this is on an Xbox one s controller, not sure if it makes a difference

Hey mate, this worked really well. Thanks heaps! For anyone struggling to get the little plastic off and unable to use their fingers like myself, it's better to pry it from the side with a crowbar like action. Controller works great now!

Removing that grey piece now removes the piece that springs the left control stick back to home when after you push it right ....
Just used this method to fix one of my wireless controllers, and it worked! Thank you so much! I’d be willing to bet they put those parts on there because they know exactly what kind of problems they will cause and they know most people will just ditch it and go buy another.
My controller has lasted me since the xbox came out with thousands of hours of use before it started doing this.
I took the part out, it kept drifting. I put it back in, it stopped.
DO NOT DO THIS. This doesn't "fix" anything, it will appear like it does for a couple days, but it causes a jojystick drift that is unfixable, clean oyur controller with compressed air, and if that doesnt work, the censor is broken, DO NOT REMOVE THE GREY THING. That's NOT whats causing it.
Many people seem to see this does help. Maybe you didn't do it right or as he said "many people this seems to work for" not all people. You might be the unlucky person.
