When you own a Lakie, and get to know them as intimately as I knew my Scamp, you both rather forget that they are a just a "dog"; you rather look upon them more as a furry little brother or sister. You can carry on a rather one-sided conversation, yet they hang on every word you're telling them, and they are very skilled comedians. They know exactly how to cheer you up, when you're having a rough go at life. Many dogs shy away from full-on eye contact, but not the Lakie; you can have many silent conversations with them, just by staring at each other. They love sleeping with you, too.
Snuggie is a year and ten months. Yes she is a handful but we are quite happy together. We walk EVERY day and she comes with me in the car every chance I get. I wish I had a backyard BUT since I live in an apartment it forces me to get out each day and exercise her which is a good thing.
