  • In this video we present to you the authentic recipe of a popular dish from Karnataka, Bisi Bele Bhath.
No, its name is not Bismillah bhath, a name which many people use .
Bisi Bele Bhath powder ,which is the masala required may be easily available in stores but by using these products you will be compromising with the taste since there is nothing better than a fresh home ground masala , and also with your health since its very easy to adulterate powders with substances like saw dust , brick powder etc.
So we will be making even the Bisi Bele Bhath Powder from scratch.
Since there are many ingredients for the powder i am listing them out below with their measures
    Dhaniya seeds - half cup
    Urad dal -!/4 cup
    Channa dal - 1/4 cup
Dried red chillies - 30 in number
    Poppy seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional )
Black pepper corns - 1 teaspoon
    Cinnamon - 2 inches
    Kapol buds -8 in number
    Hing - a small piece
    Dry coconut - half

    Sarlaji, Greetings of the day.
I tried to make KODO Ambil for 3 days after soaking KODO millet unpolished rice for 8/10 hours.
    * Then I put the earthen pot on flame containing the 75 gms of millets with it's 800 ml soaked water on low flame. The rice was cooked in 45 minutes. After cooling, I tried up the cloth on pot and removed the cloth after 10 hours. However, the KODO Ambil did not get fermented or neighther it became sour..... why so ?
I did the soaking and then cooking at 12 o'clock night and opening the pot cloth at 09:30/10:30 am for my 1st feed and
1 time cooking it at 06:00 am and eating it at 18:00 hours evening.
    * in my all the 3 attempts, the cooked KODO, could not get fermented.... why so ?
The temperature here 18/20C and 25C/27C.
    Any suggestions ?

Why we need to soak the millets before cooking?

    • @milletmagic6609
      @milletmagic6609  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Millets have fibre from the centre of the grain to the periphery
For the innermost part of the grain to cook the inner fibre needs to have soaked
If it’s not soaked it doesn’t cook inside while only outside would have cooked
      This can lead digestion problems
