The way this dal was put forward in just 3 min. Was just vow. This is how it has to be shown. Not by telling granny stories and then making a 3 min video into 30 min. So wonderful receipe and i would like and suscribe this. Thankyou.

This is how I make it. Cumin seeds gives it the best taste and smell
Dal should be comfort food, something to warm your body and feed your soul. It doesn’t have to be fancy or have lots of spices to do that. This simple dal is delicious, and it is also easily customized to suit personal tastes. If I’ve got potatoes to use up, I’ll add them. If I’m out of toor dal, I’ll use chana dal and adjust cooking times. This is a great recipe, thank you.

Agree. Usually people skip videos that doesn't list the ingredients because it makes the cooking process difficult.

When seeing/referencing a recipe video, while cooking, havjng the list of ingredients in the description helps one gather all ingredients before starting cooking the dsh....rather than having to watch the whole video to know all ingredients needed, every single time you decide to try on the dish
Don't forget this is a business for them...they make money making videos, it's not charity or generosity...so it's not s big ask....one person's effort will save time of many viewers....instead of every individual viewer writing down ingredients individually...that doesn't even make sense!!

Don't use salt while boiling daals...it will slow down the time of boiling or the daal will not boil properly 😊

Yes, adding salt at the start increases cooking time. Salt retards the hydration of dals and legumes.

You can use anything. You don't need anyone's permission -- it's your food. How much? No idea. Try "some". Unless you go crazy, it'll be fine. If you added too much, add less next time. If you didn't add enough, add more next time.

Of course you can. You don't need anybody's permission to cook your food the way you want to cook it.
Recipes are just a handy starting point. Add, subtract, or adjust ingredients to your liking. It usually takes me three tries to get any recipe "perfect".

This is an Indianised recipe. Indian restaurants call it Dal Fry. The type of dal has to be specified in Bengali cooking and each dal has different spices for tempering (phoron). Next we will be seeing a saag paneer recipe on a so-called Bengali cooking channel. Why are Bengalis so bent on subsuming their cultural identities into the Indian-Bollywood-saagpaneer identity?
