  • Our friend Shaun Smith tries his hand at his first solo video, and does a great job! Special thanks to TFO (The Fallen Outdoors) for hooking him up with the new friends he got to take out! Was an amazing time out on the Manistee River in Northern Michigan!

Dang, that's a nice walleye! I didn't even know they were below the dam. We go up every June to troll around the pond and have caught some pretty nice 20-22'' walleyes, usually 18-19''ers, but never anything like what you're showing here. Can you make a video with what rig you're using? I might spend a morning throwing below the dam just to play around.

Great video. You mentioned Dave and his flies. I’m a college student from Indy and I met a guy named Dave last year who made his own flies for a local shop. Is this the same guy? He left before I could get his information…

More than likely if he is a older man and can talk your ear off. But unfortunately I don't feel comfortable posting his info on a public forum. Find us on Facebook and I'll fb message it

If Shaun sees this hopefully he'll clarify, but he uses a 6ft leader off of a 1/2pz pencil sinker and a bead or fly bouncing on the bottom.

Main line to a barrel swivel. With a snap swivel on main line with 2 beads on either side of it protecting lur eye and knot. Then a 2 to 4 pound lighter line for leader that's 6 to 8 feet long put a bead or fly on then tie another 2ft to 18in leader to the bend of the hook and tie another fly or bead on. If want to go and learn can meet up and show u
