    Another top quality shoe review and demonstration of its performance in some pretty typical Cornish coastal weather! I really appreciate the time & effort you put in to capture all the approach & departure footage. It’s easy to forget the number of turnarounds you must have to do on every run to either pick up or change the direction of the GoPro - it really is worth the effort though as in my opinion it makes your videos among the very best🏃🏻‍♂️

    Can’t wait for it to hit South African stores. 😃
    The Exodus Ultra is my current go-to trail shoe, but after only 300km, the sole is destroyed. So new shoes is needed.

      Xodus Ultra has been the best shoe i've ever run in. Used them on the Lakeland 50 last year and they continue to provide cushion and bounce as well as decent grip a couple of hundred miles later. I'll get another pair when these are done.

    I just never liked inside of the shoe on Peregrine 12. It didn't work with any of my socks, always slipping. Plus heel counter gave me problems on steep ascents. But that is probably due to my heel which is a bit weird. In the end i went for speedgoat 5 and never regret it.

    Yes, Saucony are certainly very durable trail running shoes, totally agree. However, I disagree with you Loyd and your statement that Saucony are perfect for all kind of terrain. It's overstatement. They are very good for a soft terrain, wet and muddy, lose terrain like gravel and that would be all. Moreover, Saucony are pretty unsafe on the hard, wet terrain and wet rocks/stones. I assume because of the compound of the sole which hasn't changed much or at all. I use them myself and only during bad, rainy weather conditions with extra attention on the rocks and hard, wet terrain because it's like ice skating.

    • @gregprevite8548
      @gregprevite8548 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree they’re a bit dangerous on wet rocky terrain. It’s the rubber compound it’s durable but not sticky

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I've heard a few runners say the same but I've never had any issues on wet rock with any of the Peregrines I've run in. Obviously running on the coast path down here in Cornwall there's lots of rocks to deal with and they've always been fine. It's not an overstatement Jarek, it's just the way the Peregrine has performed for me. If Id had any grip issues on wet rock I would have mentioned it but I haven't 🤔
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

      I have been running in the Peregrine since version 10 and I have to disagree that running on wet rock is like ice skating! I have run in quite a few trail shoes and yes there are those with better wet-grip (VJ for example) but the difference isn’t making up for all the excellent grip on other surfaces. And the comfort and control you get from the Peregrines 😍

      Running in Ireland, There are dreadful for wet rock in my experience I don't know how people who have reviewed this shoe don't bring it up. It's not just lyold who says there "great all round grip" to be fair I've heard a few different ones say it.

    Thank you Loyd for great video. I'm a big fan of Peregrines running them since version 9. I shared the exitement for 12s.
    My biggest concern is about the new mash fabric in 13s. Two doubts: durability and dust protection. The outside fabric looks more like road style mesh than something to endure constant abrasion and forefoot flex. The similar remark to the change towards breathability. Won't be the dirt protection compromised? I hope the new fabric will not change the shoe into a dust eater in a 100k race. Seems like these two elements may be an "Achilles heel" of this version . Can you please give your opinion on these two points in your next full review? Thank you. Always enjoying your reviews.

    My favorite Peregrine... More cushioning, grip and stability compared to 12 standard (the ST version had the worst grip on wet surfaces). The 11 was too heavy.
    The fit seems better than the xodus ultra with more space on fingers area. The 10 was good but this I think it will be the best version

  • @BatTechnologies
    @BatTechnologies ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Loyd, I'm really pleased to see this video as I've bought 4 or 5 pairs of Peregrines now and it is good to see you are still raving over the latest model as they are my favourite trail shoe.
    A couple of questions:
    Do they still have the lovely little pocket on the inside roughly around the mid point which is just there to catch large amounts of grit and gravel? Various trail shoes seem to have this and it would be great to see it designed out.
    Have you got your hands on the ST version? I have a pair of Peregrine 10 STs and they are great at reducing the amount of water that gets into the shoe and the extra grip works very well on muddy ground. I did though find the sole to very slippery on smooth wet rock / concrete etc. I also found the crease across the top of the toe box to be very uncomfortable when I put the shoes on, to the point that I nearly sent them back. I'm glad I didn't as I found them very comfortable to actually run in and the crease wasn't an issue.
    Thanks, Mr Colin.

  • @gergo-hajdu
    @gergo-hajdu 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My first and second impression about Saucony Peregrine 13 is that this has the worst sole knob pattern or material compound, in the wet condition especially on the rocky terrain is like you run on the ice, no grip!!
    Now I suffer from an ankle sprain on my right leg because the shoe slipped badly, I run a lot on these trails, I used to run with a Salomon Sense ride 3, never had this happen to me even on snowy rocks either.
    On easy terrain, on grass, on gravel roads, on dirt roads on terrain without large rocks and roots, maybe good, the shoe itself is light and comfortable with too much cushioning and I think that's why it doesn't have good stability.
    The corset tends to unravel.
    I wouldn't say this is a trail running shoe.
    Great look.

    I`m a big Saucony fanboy. Or sadly, tending to was...The last couple of versions of both the Xodus and the Peregrine just doesn't work for me. They are to narrow at the mid foot area and it gets pretty painful. Every version of the Xodus, except the Ultra, were brilliant shoes and the Peregrine up until the 10 the same. The current versions not so much. Its tempting to try the 13 after your fine review, but it seems like every shoe that fits your foot like a glove is to narrow for me 🙂
    Bring back the Koa ST

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Judging by what you're saying Jan, I'd say the new Peregrine 13's would be to narrow for your foot shape still. It's very fitted around the midfoot, even more so than the 12's so I think you'd struggle. Wow someone who got on with the KOA ST! That was a very strange fitting running shoe, so wide at the midfoot it was almost square! I stocked that shoe in the running shop and I think I only sold one pair to a guy who had the widest foot I've ever seen 😲 I think it was one of Saucony's worst selling shoes so I don't think they'll be bringing back unfortunately 😔

    I absolutely hate the thin tongue on the 13s! The 11’s were absolutely my favorite, yes heavier but just had to slip on and off I go. On the 13’s tongue shift and twist when putting on, I constantly have re-adjust it only when putting on. Can I live with it? Of course but I wouldn’t get another pair. The rest of the shoe is stellar though.

    • @Run4Adventure

      I personally think the Peregrine 11 wasn't as good as the 10,12 or 13's, it was a bit heavy and it had to much padding around the heel for me. If the issue only happens when you putting the shoes on and not when you're running, what's the problem? 🤔

    I ducked out of Peregrines after a diabolical 11 experience and went to Altra Timps then came the Xodus Ultra which is superb and now i'll have to get the Peregrine 13 to try. Are we saying that the Peregrine is for wetter, muddier trails and the Xodus Ultra is for slightly firmer trails? There's not a lot of difference between the P13 and the XU, a little extra cushion in one and 1mm more lugs in the other.

    @Run4Adventure - Hi Loyd, thanks for this, really appreciate the quality reviews - Looking forward to the upcoming Xodus, but I have a quick couple of questions:
    1) Is the cushioning measurement in addition to the sock-liner or without it, and is that the case with your other reviews eg the xodus ultra?
    2) I loved the xodus (have the winterpack one) and the drop in cusioning has been fine (prob due to sockliner)
    However, for half marathons, I am used to speedgoat 4 cusioning levels and wanted to get the Pereguin 13s as I've spotted a good deal, but am conscious that while droping from the goat's 28m forefoot to the xodus' 26.5 and now considering the Pereguin's 24mm... what do you think ?

    Sigh. Every time I hear “fits my footshape perfectly” I know it won’t work for my wide feet. So few brands seem to have wide versions.

      Hello Phil, I've had a slight hallux for several years, so I was glad that I finally found this brand. Brooks, for example, I had to buy half a size bigger in the fall so they wouldn't squeeze me. Half a size larger is good for tripping over your own feet. Pellegrin 13, runs wide!

      Have you not tried Altra shoes? There aren't any trail running shoes out there wider than the Lone Peak and Olympus styles. The Lone Peaks are too wide for my feet, I don't feel safe running across large rocks and boulders.

  • @petejr7583

    They look like a baseball shoe, so more technical looser ground, more rigid, less comfort like a Speedcross, oh and less grip on slippery rock. How would you compare to the ASICS Trabuco 11 and Salomon Sense Ride 5? Seems to me the Soucony Xodus Ultra 2 world be the better all round from the brand?

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Peregrine 13 does run well on technical trail but it's way more comfortable than the Salomon Speedcross 6! Saucony added some more cushioning to the midsole this time round and its made the shoe a lot more comfortable. I'd still say the Xodus Ultra is a better alrounder but it is quite close between the two models. Hope this helps Peter, thanks for watching 🙏😊

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

    My 12s were terrible durability wise. they made it too light. 10s were spot on.

    • @grunnergname3813
      @grunnergname3813 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I confirm. Peregrine 12, I had three pairs, all ended arround 500km (300miles) because of fabric tore alongside forefoot. In compare, 5 pairs of Peregrine 10, all beyond 700km (500 miles), if you accept little ventilation hole😄 at flex point, >1000km (600 miles).
      I'm really concerned about the durability of the new fabric in V13. It looks more like road style mesh. Hopefully I miss there something.

    • @07Corcaigh

      Same here. The 10s lasted me for years but the 12s are getting holes on them at less than 250km in. My uppers are wearing at the arch where the insoles touch the upper material. I'd get the 13s if they have corrected this design flaw

      They are both great trail shoes but they're very different so hard to compare them? If you like more cushioning in the midsole I'd go for the Mafate Speed 4's. If you want a bit more ground feel and stability when running on more technical trails I'd go for the Peregrine 13's. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
