One of my personal favorites has to be the Forces reimagined mod(s). That developer made an entire other half to sunset heights and made the level feel like the potential it had from Forces' first trailer.
My favorites are the stage mods! They just literally add new content to the game and helps you rediscover the game in a way. I like the most the original stages and the ports of the classic Sonic stages to 3D. The character mods are also great! They allow you to play the stages with your favorite Sonic characters.
My favorite mod is the Improvement Mod for Lost World. It looks fast, and that's because it is fast. I already like Lost World, but fixing it so that more fans can enjoy it is better.
I totally agree with the number 1 choice. I actually grew up with DX, and didn't see the problem until I got a steam account and modded the hell out of SA1. Man there is no moment more eye opening than seeing emerald coast's water not look like silly putty anymore.
Honestly Burning Blaze is one of my favorite mods for Generations, it's what made me want to see that form return in a Modern 3D Sonic game because when was the last time we've seen it, specifically playable? Oh that's right, 2007.
I'd say my favorites include lots of Sonic Generations character mods similar to the Hyper Sonic one, specially the "Real" character ones by UltimateDarkman, the Sonic and the Black Knight character pack, Amy Rose and Silver Generations by Daku Neko, and Blaze The Cat by Bandi, all of which come with unique animations and voices, and most even with unique Super transformations and/or unique physics and other neat details changed along the way! I'd also go with The Misfits Pack for Sonic Mania
I'm so glad you put CWE at number 2 at the very least, and everything you said about it I agree with fully. It becomes hard to play SA2 without it, and CWE has the most passion put behind it imo
I probably would put more custom level mods on the list. I like sonic forces reimagined, Sa2 better miles, sa2 cutscene revamp, better radar sa2, physics swap mod, and amy Twinkle Park expanded. I also will like the original colors levels mod whenever that game can easily be stage moded.
if there were honorable mentions here, i think sa2's terios conversion and/or prototype conversion deserve spots, bringing back beta elements to sa2 like white super shadow, sonic's classic shoes, and for terios conversion, terios (of course), and overhauling the entire game (if the mod was finished, i want my super terios dammit) to make him fit with the environment and look natural when playing the game (except for the cutscenes, i honestly forgot i had terios loaded in since i only saw shadow throughout the story, someone needs to finish this mod, man) actually, one mod i think truly deserves a spot is beta windy hill, people seriously used a handful of shots of the original stage, the remaining collision for the stage, and the remaining textures, and recreated a whole level of sonic adventure, fucking crazy
Am I the only one who actually likes Adventure Sonic's DX model, and even prefers it over his Dreamcast model? I mean yes it's so shiny it makes Sonic look plastic but I like everything else about it, the added detail, the higher resolution textures Perhaps someone could create a mod that combines the best aspects of both models
It already has, there's a mod called "BetterSADX" and it has 2 options to revamp the DX Steam version of the game The first option is completely convert to the Dreamcast version, or keep the same DX base and models but with improvements, like better lightning, textures, bug fixes, etc. It even comes with extra mods, so you can mix them the way you want, I heavily recommend
There's also the DX characters refined mod, along with the DX Characters with dreamcast textures mod if that's what your after. As someone who grew up with the gamecube version, I think both of these mods do a great job giving the best of both worlds.
For sonic adventure there's a mod wich AI upscpale the textures (based on the one from the dreamcast conversion) and the cutscenes, it gives a "clean" feal to the graphism of the game
Imo the best mod hands down is the Turbo mod in SA1, it gives boost mechanics to Adventure gameplay and its wonderful, 2nd is Knuckles in Amy dress for SA1 & 2. 3rd mod is SA2 Randomizer
My absolute mod has got to be the unleashed project, with its associated things to look more like unleashed, because sega refuses to port unleashed to pc (AND NO STEAM FOR HEROES EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY HAD A PC VERSION) There are even special mods to make all the smaller levels in unleashed with the minilevel hub world. I am also in love with those mods that add sonic rush stuff in mania like boost and coral cave. That being said, blaze in sa2 is pretty nice.
I have no idea why Sega aren't cash grabbing on the Chao idea.. honestly it's right there and has been for years but they just don't want to give it to us.
Sega should bring back the Chao garden and put it in Sonic Frontiers since it’s a open world game or just make a Chao Garden Game with next gen graphics

Just to let everyone know The main reason for why video games don't have cheat codes nowadays is because *game developers don't want you to cheat in their games,* that's literally it, simple as that. Game developers want you to play their games in the wat they intended you to play them.

One of my favorite mods is a mod for Sonic Lost World that restores the Yoshi DLC. The creator is also working on restoring the Zelda DLC as well!
