There's alot of Rom hacks for Mario games that basically make it a new game

Kinda reminds me of Boost and Blue Tornado (Sonic's 3rd and 4th Spell) from Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. But that's likely a coincidence since this released before his inclusion.

Holy shit, Snowboard Kids. That’s one helluva blast of nostalgia, I’d forgotten all about those games. Used to love them...especially the music. Another obscure game with a good soundtrack is Chameleon Twist.

I remember back then when this was just a simple rom hack of Sonic 1 but now that it's a fully fleshed out mania mod with it's own additions this is just..........Wow, that's all that I can say. They did a fantastic job!
I think im starting to see a pattern with all these amazing mania mods, and that is that they seems to have trouble incorporating original bosses. I assume they (the bosses) are one of those things were if you mess with them too much the game breaks, but its pretty unfortunate nonetheless.
Lucky for you, Unnamed Sonic Mania Mod has the custom boss that you're looking for. Nothing too special, but it's there.

Man I give this Shadow mod a 9/10, it's phenomenal! my single and only gripe is that when Shadow runs at full speed, he should be gliding as if he was super just like he does in the boost games. Shadow running like Espio(ninja like) just doesn't suit his mannerisms. however an amazing mod that I still want!
Hey there, megamix mania artist (and level designer) here. We decided to change his dashing animation from the hovering boost like we had before mainly due to the fact that it’s sort of been done to death. In the future we hope to maybe incorporate it into the boost separately so it looks as if it were in the modern games, but of course the dashing animation itself is subject to change. If you’ve got any ideas for what you’d like to see, let me know!
@@troopsushi I respect that you guys were going for something fresh and new. that's all good but I also think Shadow's hover boosting is more accurate to his character and mannerisms. I don't think anyone is tired of something that's unique to his character like hover dashing. however the dash currently in the game looks very similar to Espio's. which actually makes it seems less unique. as you said it's subjected to change so I do hope you guys take the route more accurate to his character.
@@Etrodecim It was intentionally made to be a reference to Espio's dashing animation which is why it looks similar. (in the same vein that mania references different animations from the classic games, ex. Mighty's waiting animation etc.) It also didn't feel entirely natural to give a "classic" Shadow something that is exclusively seen in the modern games as the original megamix tended to draw more inspiration from the dreamcast era, which always kept a form of skating no matter how fast you were going.
@@troopsushi That's understandable but Shadow's hovering animation isn't exclusive to the modern games. it actually debuted in his own game Shadow The Hedgehog 2005 which is a dreamcast era game. Shadow does this animation when he uses Chaos Control to warp on any level, he moves like he's hover boosting. so i think it would be fitting for him to have it since that animation debuted in his own titled dreamcast era game, especially since it serves the same purpose as boost back then, to move through the level quickly.
@@troopsushi I actually like the skate-running thing. Makes him feel like he's trying his best to build up as much speed as possible. It also makes him look like he's a regular skater without rockets strapped to the bottom of his shoes, as if he isn't fully confident in his newly acquired gear (seeing as it's the classic games). Thanks for all of your hard work.

Dark Fortress is brilliant, combining thematic elements of Marble and Aquatic Ruin and some Hill Top thrown in with the atmosphere of Mystic Cave at day
also like how City Outskirts feels like Mirage Saloon on the edge of Casino Night (kind of the same feeling as the approach to Las Vegas stage in Sly Cooper)

Damn, this looks good. Though Mighty plays more like Sonic in this than Sonic does. But that just ensures that both styles of Sonic are covered?
Either way, this is an amazing mod. 2D Sonic games have a good future ahead of them if the Sonic Mania devs stay as creative as the fans.
Well isn't the origins of Mighty just a copy paste of Sonic in knuckles chaotix? It would make sense for mighty to play like sonic if the devs were intending to go that route.

Finally, Tails have reached his true potential!
This mod looks amazing, but I can't help to think that mighty and tails are a bit overdo with its controls. Also, I can't say I like having the homing attack in 2D Sonic. That said, it still looks like an amazing mod, and kudos to the devs for delivering such and amazing work.
Megamix has always been a favorite of mine and this looks just as amazing.
It's sad how Shadow replaces Ray instead of having his own slot like the Amy mod.
But other than that, I love it
Amy mania replaces Mighty lol and Ray isn't even in the orginal Megamix.
Im glad the end of Dark Fortress was as satisfying as it was because the whole time I was watching it like "Who on Earth is this level for? Its brutal."

One of my favorite things in chaotix tbh
So I just taught my younger cousin the spin dash, he's owned mania for a year, and never once tried just holding the stick down, and not inwards, or down as I've apparently taught him... his eyes were widened upon realizing he can build speed wherever he wants with all the characters. I've also taught him that sonic can be picked up by tails, and introduced him to chemical plant, all from just my knowledge on generations and classic sonic.

Holy SHIT! I was obsessed with megamix when I was in middle school ;o Seeing this years later as an adult in my early 20s brought the little kid out of me again 😭 I love it, I might finally pick up mania on pc just for this.
I like how the zones in this mod are basically spin-offs of the zones from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Sunny Shores is Green Hill, Dark Fortress is Marble Zone, and City Outskirts is Spring yard.
