Hibi Hibiki | Cherry MX Purples on polycarbonate plate

Finally got around to building the Hibiki! I think the MX purples are really scratchy out of the box, but I'm trying them out as-is for a while before modding them.

i really like the refraction of the bottom case when looking at the pcb! Any thoughts on the board?

It's nice! The clear back is thicker than I expected and has a nice "goldfish bowl" kind of visual effect IRL.
Beyond that, I'm also really happy that this board isn't super heavy. I know the current meta in customs is to opt for heavier and heavier materials, but IMO the polycarb bottom on the Hibiki is light and sufficiently thick enough to prevent any weird case pinging that you might expect.

So nice! Is the leaf noise noticeable in real life?

Nope! Not too noticeable, though I'm finding that a few switches have developed some spring crunch so I've been oiling those individually.
Compared to my stock MX browns, the MX purples have way less spring crunch and almost no leaf ping compared to the browns. I love how browns sound and feel, but they're such a pain to mod 😭
