I went with beetle armour full warding gear. Beat him on classic (in a honey pool not using this method) then grinded until I got a solar set. Then I just farmed his ass for the meowmere and star wrath. Easy boss only ever lost twice. Once when I was learning his attack pattern on expert and when my mates were grinding and we wanted to try the star wrath for the first time. Amazing game tho
@@average__height8033 yeah on expert and master its a lot harder. You can use statues and the box strat on expert mode. But it's too difficult to do it on master mode (within reason). So I recommend getting a mechanical cart going across the world up in the air. You can actually idle the boss on a melee character

As others have pointed out, bleeding does not get rid of all regen. This build still regenerates a surprisingly large amount of health while the bleeding debuff is active.

On Calamity Mod there's an item you get from killing the Dungeon Guardian on Hardmode called Burden Breaker. It speeds you up to around 2500mph (the Stopwatch can't keep up with it, so I had to do the math on map size X avg time).

It's just same set of armour plus solar leggings, master ninja gear brain of Cthulhu, star veil, band of mist and celestial shell. Note not the celestial stone does not stack with celestial shell does not stack same goes for band of regen and band of mist. Have honey, heart lantern, campfire, bask statue, and dryad. If possible use heart statues as well preferably 2 statues.
note to anyone watching after 1.4 release celestial stone and shell do not stack anymore (don't know about moon charm though) and moonlord laser passes through blocks

Not many people know this, but with the set bonus, a warrior will do more damage with Nebula Armor than Solar Flare Armor. Vortex will only do more for Rangers than Nebula for Ranger if stealth mode is active.
@@dasaiyantv8483 But the thing about Nebula is that the defense is terrible, if you're looking to get the most out of your Ranged Weapons, the inherit 25% chance to not consume ammunition with Vortex on top of the 50% with the SDMG makes Chlorophyte Bullets way more viable.

@@szpadelexe4395 actually the portal gun has a small range. You could use the alchemist npc mod, get the explorer (get all 9 thorn notes, go to jelewer and then the game tells you the rest) then buy the advanced world warper (333 platinum coins). Teleports you anywhere in the world.
@@arti2074 I believe Szpadel was talking about flinging yourself, rather than teleporting across the world, if you abuse flinging you can go stupidly fast along with a specific kind of block (I can't remember the specific block however).
If you wanted to try the nebula armor and get the buffs without moving, you would just need to put 2 raven summons in a box with 2 weak enemy statues (like crab or slime), then put on a fast timer (like the dummy teleport hoik thing), and they'll drop the nebulas constantly. This method also gives you infinite mana. MappyGaming has a video detailing it, its his "tips and tricks part 1", if you want to build this and try it out.

And a video like this might make it seem like "you aren't playing the game", but there are hours of getting all the pieces together and building the structures to make this work. The AFK-Moon-Lord-Farm is the end product of a building-style and exploring-style of play rather than an action-based-twitch-sensitive-style of play. Decrying it is like complaining about builder players in Fortnight or saying the Engineer class is too OP in Team Fortress. WeaponOut's brawler class is all about this, taking using I-frames and regen, he's still weak to moonlord because he can't actually hit him, but you Can Always find a way to Spawn mobs to deny that and make him get to his full power
I was having a lot of trouble with Moonlord about a year ago, until I figured out the Valhalla Breastplate + Squire Helm combo. Thought I was quite clever at the time. Turns out I'm a scrub, but hey, whatever works.
Assuming we were still in this version of the game, wouldn't a Lifeforce potion also increase the amount of regen? Due to the fact that it increases the amount of health a player has by 20% and as such would increase the speed at which you regen.
Something to consider, is swapping out one of those items that no longer stacks, with a knockback immunity shield, and sitting in a chair. Sitting in a chair amplifies the rate at which regen accelerates by a significant amount, and is incredibly noticeable when combined with the shiny stone.
@@zekerdeath yup, simply standing still gives a x1.25 multiplier to health regen, and sitting in a chair or laying in a bed also adds an additional x1.5 multiplier. Health regen math is actually a lot more complicated than just that, as there's a lot of factors going on behind the scenes, but the wiki does a full breakdown on the math if you're looking for the technical explanation
I'm fairly certain that if you sit on a slime as well, it's doing minimum damage and activating I-frames, so instead of getting hit for 50s+ by Moon Lord, you're getting hit 1s from a slime. This used to work at least, I'm unsure if it still does.

I believe I briefly mention it when I start the expert mode portion of the video. However, I didn't have an animation for it like the other ones in normal mode so it's fairly easy to miss.
there is a cheat mod called anti social that toggles the effects of accesories in the vanity slots (armor included, if you turn on a in-game mod setting), so this combined with the tanky loadout would be pretty much immortal
You didn't have dryads blessing for expert moonlord (no leaves). That was the nurse in that room. She somehow got switched before you started it and you didn't notice. Edit... I see her she was behind the nurse and the nurse was there to keep her alive. But you still werent getting dryads blessing.
Pretty much my setup when I played terraria a lot a long time ago... but those accessories ouch. They are totally not needed and more defense works better. Or more offense, a dead target can't kill you. I had the squire helmet, valhalla chest, stardust pants with celestial shell + celestial stone, ankh shield, and minion capacity stuff to get a decent army going. I supported it with betsy's wrath, Ichor, and vampire knives to leech hp.

None of the items in the celestial shell crafting tree stack with each other.

Fargo's Mutant Mod adds a stat sheet item that lets you see all your stats (and you spawn with it), could've used that to check your regen.

@@KAClown They should have made it possible only AFTER moon lord somehow because being able to afk the FINAL boss of the game before you beat it the first time doesn't make sense
@@randalllopez9707 i don't think you should be able to beat the Moon Lord with any pre-Moon-Lord build then by that logic. You should have to have loot only dropped by beating the Moon Lord to qualify as worthy of defeating him for the first time.

I did some of this and I didn't even watch the vid, and now I've found out it was nerfed
WeaponOut's brawler class is all about this, taking using I-frames and regen, he's still weak to moonlord because he can't actually hit him, but you Can Always find a way to Spawn mobs to deny that and make him get to his full power
Now that in 1.4, the solar armor is getting a regen passive buff, this could be beyond broken..

in 1.4, if you sit on a chair or couch of some sort, it slightly increases your regeneration
I did this in the sky so the stardust dragon doesn’t get distracted and I also tested it with the shiny stone, there’s not really a difference

I was having a lot of trouble with Moonlord about a year ago, until I figured out the Valhalla Breastplate + Squire Helm combo. Thought I was quite clever at the time. Turns out I'm a scrub, but hey, whatever works.
Assuming we were still in this version of the game, wouldn't a Lifeforce potion also increase the amount of regen? Due to the fact that it increases the amount of health a player has by 20% and as such would increase the speed at which you regen.

Something to consider, is swapping out one of those items that no longer stacks, with a knockback immunity shield, and sitting in a chair.
Sitting in a chair amplifies the rate at which regen accelerates by a significant amount, and is incredibly noticeable when combined with the shiny stone.

@@zekerdeath yup, simply standing still gives a x1.25 multiplier to health regen, and sitting in a chair or laying in a bed also adds an additional x1.5 multiplier.
Health regen math is actually a lot more complicated than just that, as there's a lot of factors going on behind the scenes, but the wiki does a full breakdown on the math if you're looking for the technical explanation

I'm fairly certain that if you sit on a slime as well, it's doing minimum damage and activating I-frames, so instead of getting hit for 50s+ by Moon Lord, you're getting hit 1s from a slime. This used to work at least, I'm unsure if it still does.

You can afk from a platform a hundred blocks or so above ground, so the dragon can see the core. Honey, campfires, and heart lanterns too

Well there's the mana flower that auto consumes potions so basically as long as you have potion you don't run out

I believe I briefly mention it when I start the expert mode portion of the video. However, I didn't have an animation for it like the other ones in normal mode so it's fairly easy to miss.

there is a cheat mod called anti social that toggles the effects of accesories in the vanity slots (armor included, if you turn on a in-game mod setting), so this combined with the tanky loadout would be pretty much immortal

There's only a very small amount of things that affect your thorns abilities
Adding ironskin is insane.
I mean it's only 8 defense. That's only max 8 damage reduction per hit in master mode and half of that in normal difficulty

You didn't have dryads blessing for expert moonlord (no leaves). That was the nurse in that room. She somehow got switched before you started it and you didn't notice.
Edit... I see her she was behind the nurse and the nurse was there to keep her alive. But you still werent getting dryads blessing.
it bothers me how he didn't just right-click to quick equip the armour if it was in his inventory.
Pretty much my setup when I played terraria a lot a long time ago... but those accessories ouch. They are totally not needed and more defense works better. Or more offense, a dead target can't kill you. I had the squire helmet, valhalla chest, stardust pants with celestial shell + celestial stone, ankh shield, and minion capacity stuff to get a decent army going. I supported it with betsy's wrath, Ichor, and vampire knives to leech hp.
Instead of Solar Boots, I would have done Stardust for increased Summoning damage, plus an extra minion.
