Its a court case you will win, even if during the case the GOVT decides to declare the gun Prohib Status, which wont affect the case since the arrest would have been made in this case before the new ruling. But you can def make your money back by then suing the PD for damages and wrongful detainment.
If the mags a dimensionally similar to the STANAG mags and the only difference is the fins in the magwell of the crypto. Could you not remove the material from the magwell so it could accept P-mags?
@@bats8888 At that point its alot more attractive using almost all AR parts, though they would sell alot better if they did a stripped upper and lower. That could open up the market back into the AR world. This may be more important then just an overpriced/ probably unreliable crusader
@@bats8888 I think thats a fair point to make as well. There's also the argument weather its worth the time and money if we looking at a conservative gov with a roll back on the OIC and C21. All and all i think 2g is way too high especially with no track record and most likely sub standard AR parts. if they hit a 1200-1400 price point they would fly off shelves
Kinda like playing chess with someone who is able to move the pieces wherever they want. The rcmp will declare it illegal and ask you to turn it in with no compensation. This is what our country has become
The Raven Silver is not a problem at all. It is 100% false advertisement. Everyone who has received a “Silver” gun got shafted. They are supposed to have a redesigned “smooth and simple” UPPER, LOWER, and MAGWELL. They have been shipped out with the original “lightning cut” receivers with just a “silver” magwell.
False adverts, sure. But that's entirely aesthetic preference. The gold/plat lower and upper are higher quality (it was shipped with the simplified handguard). It's still a semi-auto DI 5.56 rifle with stanag mags that's cheaper than the Crytpo. Lockharts biggest problem is production capacity. If that continue to be a problem, maybe this rifle overtakes it.
ARs are not direct impingement. The carrier isn't acted on by gas impingement, but the bolt is a gas piston that is acted upon by my gasses. It's different, for sure.
I wouldn't even THINK about dropping a pre-order on one of these UNTIL the RCMP Firearms Office gives it an FRT number. For the lesser price, yaaaa some may bite. To be able to use 10 round crossmags ... is it worth that, and the added expense to outfit a Lockhart to match the Crusader Crypto, I'd say probably. The big bonus with a Lockhart is that you should be able to do a caliber change with a new magwell, boltface and barrel, and now you have a 308 or 7.62x39. The Lockhart will also take AR10 style pistol mags ... so definite winner. I need to get a side hustle going, or come outa retirement and go back work !! Like Colion Noir says .... need money for pew pews !! hahaha !
Police use the FRT to make arrests and press charges. Yes, you could win in court. But you have to fight it and there's also a good chance you lose. Based on recent court cases, you probably lose and all that comes with that.
How does this not fall under a ar15 derivative. And isnt a ar15 derivative restricted by definition (if it didnt exist when the oic was done its not prohibited, I believe). Please correct me as I must be missing something
If it stays legal, is because it does not share compatability with AR uppers and lowers. But we've seen guns like this, ATRS, get fucked anyway. We'll see what happens.
@@VA6OILthere were NR 'ARs' pre 2020 that were prohibited because they were an 'AR variant'. No idea how that can be seeing as they were NR and an AR was restricted by definition; so they weren't an AR but then became one for the OiC. They did the same thing to Mossberg .22s that looked vaguely like ARs but shared no parts compatibility other than furniture. The RCMP will change classification at the behest of the government without any technical justification. Either that or we aren't privy to their higher level thinking. I'm sure if Liberal leadership got wind of all the Canadian cope rifles they'd tell the RCMP to reclassify those too.
@@bats8888yeah, that's what they said about the Stag 10 & ATRS rifles. Then they went & changed the Canadian law comments & reclassified it to Banned.
@@VA6OIL reason I ask, is I have an m&p15-22. It is even less compatible with an ar15 then this firearm, but it still fell under derivative and was restricted, and is now prohibited with the OIC (even though the liberals said that no 22lrs were affected by the OIC)
@@Mark-bo5gza Canadian can't go to the stated and live there but yet there's many illegals with pre paid hotel rooms and credit cards straight chilling out in NYC, etc
He's right about not pre-ordering this rifle! I pre-ordered the ATRS Modern Sporter when it first came out. Took over a year to get mine. Totally wasn't worth the wait! Not to mention this could easily get banned with the stroke of a pen!
I've stayed away from the non-restricted since the ban but looking at crypto recently i was thinking of getting a stripped upper and lower crypto to convert a AR safe queen into something i can use again. Not worried about the mag its not the biggest deal. But what else about the Raven is proprietary? Looks like the handguard is, what about the bolt? (it looks like ar15 to me) and is there anything else someone looking to get just upper/lower needs to look out for for the Raven? i got all excited as raven upper/lower is like 300 cheaper, but if you need the handguard its the same price....but if you need a bolt or this or that its now almost the cost of the whole rifle. I would buy a raven upper/lower right now if its parts compatible like the crypto and I didnt have to buy anything else for it. otherwise for ease of conversion looks like crypto upper/lower is the best option if you just want to be able to swap parts and get back out to the range with a AR like rifle again
Only proprietary parts on the Raven are bolt carrier, upper, and lower. Everything else is AR, including handguard. Their website should tell you everything you'd need to finish the builders kit.
@@bats8888 Thanks. I was looking and only saw they mentioned handguard was, i didn't see it on the bolt page. But i see other info on that builders kit page. however can tell you once i realized they are nickel and diming for bolt hold open and other minor features that shouldn't even be a question that it's standard...THEN $130 for a brass deflector....I could never go with this option out of principle. You might as well buy a completed rifle, this is not for someone like me. If i had no rifles and looking for one 1500-1600 (corrected - i see they are actually 18-1900) for a complete one is decent considering its non-restricted. But I want to spend at little as possible to use what I already have. Crypto is a lot for just and upper and lower but at least you are not being nickel and dimed, your just paying the "non-restricted tax" and you just swap stuff over minus the mag. at least with the mag, you can't complain because they are meeting C-21 with it, so its gets a pass (plus you can get around this because I don't think there is any magwell modification law? but could be wrong that's a question for Runkle)
@@bats8888 Just realizing that if you get a stripped lower you need to buy a magwell to attach at $250. i totally missed that and now looking at the stripped lower no idea how i missed that haha. that is crazy omg. there is literally no point to buying the parts to try do do a simple swap (coming from a cost perspective). now i see why the builders kit is so much it wasn't making sense to me at first lol. Almost 5 years into the ban, quality is not the biggest thing for me, being able to use again is. so looks like stripped upper/lower crypto and cutting/milling out lines in ar mags or milling the magwell is way to go if you want to do it as cheap as possible (if you own ARs and have the parts to swap)...assuming that doing one or both wont break current laws (i dont think cutting out lines would break current mag laws, but the magwell a different story.....Runkle would be a better person to ask lol)
@2Supra4U the problem with the crypto is that it doesn't have an FRT. So it could get banned overnight by the RCMP at any point. The Raven does have an FRT, so you'd be good. But yes, legally, you can chage the mag well on any rifle. You just can't modify the mag itself.
@@bats8888 Don't worry about the FRT nonsense. FRT is required for import/export, its not required for something made in Canada. They don't have to apply for one. i knew this before i saw but If you haven't watch the video by code of arms with the guy from spectre/crusader arms, he answers all those internet Fudd questions and points lol. He actually answers the FRT question, along with some other points about the law, etc. People making issue with the mags, they don't realize that once all the c-21 laws come into place pinned mags and pistol mags will be illegal and all new guns will require proprietary mags. i don't see much being imported in the future... . 1K is a lot for what would be like 3-400 if it was an AR but after nearly 5 years and i never had interest in the expensive non restricted alternatives, but at this point 1K and I literally just change the upper and lower and you're back in business....and NO PAPERWORK or restricted firearms rules! lol
To be honest, at this point, I'm not willing to shell out $2K for a rifle that will likely be obsolete in 16 months (assuming the Tories win). I MIGHT consider a receiver/lower kit but if, and only if, it looks like Pierre Polievre snatches defeat from the jaws of victory (I'm looking at YOU Erin O'Toole!) I have enough AR parts to build out a rifle already.
For Canadian stuff? WK180/181, WS MCR, Templar, SRV2, Sterling R18, and Raven. Of course there are better rifles from Europe, but they're quite a bit more money.
I think best option is to find a used one or one at a gun store. Try using arsenalforce(dot)ca to see if any sorres have em. If you order through Lockhart, you will get it. But it may take a long time.
I still affirm that without an FRT, it's not a risk I'm willing to take or show off. I think the offerings from Kodiak and especially Sterling are going to be better.
I would go with the crypto over the raven simply because its all AR 15 parts apart from the receiver set. so unlike the Raven there are replacement bolt carriers and charging handles in abundance compared the ravens proprietary garbage. Plus with LT's past of shoddy QC (yes I know its just like all other Canadian gun companies) and inability to get in touch when there are problems make me not want to support them. On I side note I just think the Raven looks fucking ugly.
It's future proof capability comes in the form of parts. All you would need is a stripper upper and lower from an AR if you have this. If it stays legal but we don't get ARs back, this is the closest functionally to an AR.
Typical AR magazines are too big, and most magazines replicate them. These mags can fit into AR platforms but AR platform magazines cannot fit into it because the are dimensionally too big
Wait guys so under bill c 21 just to make sure I’m getting this right ANY new rifles AFTER bill c 21 that are semi auto any new designs must only take proprietary mags that can only take 5 rounds ?
Kind of. The minimum we can expect is a repeal of C-21 and the May 2020 OIC, as he has stated that constantly. That means we can once again make and import new rifles that take STANAG mags (aka 10 round pistol mags for 7.62x39 and 5.56/.223) as well as any PCC that uses pistol mags.
Yes. If the Conservatives get a majority (which looks almost certain), there is a good chance we get our ARs back and maybe even undue the 90s bans. Of course, nothing is guaranteed.
@@bats8888if crypto's magwell design is modifiable with some diy tool to make it accept stanag mags this gun looks promising for non competition usage. however if the gun law changes to let you modify the magwell to have 5/10rd detachable normal ar mag which also means they revoked the c21😂
Kodiak and their colleagues being based as usual. That name is whack tho lol it sounds like a great idea on paper but the execution is just cringe
are all SKS aftermarket pinned mags to 5/30 5/35 and so on still ok? All of these laws have been driving me crazy. I'm sorry if this has already been answered but all of this garbage is ridiculous. Waaaay toooo much garbage and I'm forgetting some of the details. FFS.
Any gun that was designed before Dec 15, 2023 is legal to manufacture, sell, import, distribute, etc. By default, SKS mags (detachable or fixed) have to be 5 rounds. But, you can get an adapter that takes 7.62x39 AR mags and then you can use 10 round XCR mags in an SKS. Edit: Nothing with regard to pinning or mag capacity has been done yet.
BCG issue was fixed a year ago, Gen 1 was too skeletonized. Support is definitely hit or miss, but it seems way better than other Canadian manufacturers (except SBI). Never pre order anything and their website literally says it takes months to get your order.
Fun Fact the original AR 15 developed by Armalite in the 50's didn't have them, Eugene Stoner the Armalite Engineer / Inventor said they weren't needed, the US Army requested they be put on.
Stop advertising these overpriced shitty AR lites made by a shady company preying on desperate Canadians. The state of affairs is already bad and they only make things worse

Its a court case you will win, even if during the case the GOVT decides to declare the gun Prohib Status, which wont affect the case since the arrest would have been made in this case before the new ruling. But you can def make your money back by then suing the PD for damages and wrongful detainment.
I think not being able to use 10-round AR pistol mags will be a deal-breaker for some people.
Lockhart has the worst customer service. So if crusader arms is worse that's a damn shame
If the mags a dimensionally similar to the STANAG mags and the only difference is the fins in the magwell of the crypto. Could you not remove the material from the magwell so it could accept P-mags?
You absolutely could
@@bats8888 At that point its alot more attractive using almost all AR parts, though they would sell alot better if they did a stripped upper and lower. That could open up the market back into the AR world. This may be more important then just an overpriced/ probably unreliable crusader
I agree. But I am not ready to full buy into this rifle until I see a NR FRT for it.

There is NOTHING stopping anyone from making a larger magazine.
Practically speaking, sure. Legally speaking, there is.

Maple syrup creates slippery tongues. Very few Canadians are chill like that, even in winter.
Kinda like playing chess with someone who is able to move the pieces wherever they want. The rcmp will declare it illegal and ask you to turn it in with no compensation. This is what our country has become
Proprietary magazine is a BIG deal breaker. Im sure someone with a 3d printer will fix this
The Raven Silver is not a problem at all.
I am eager to see the reviews on this rifle, but I am going to be skeptic just because their Templar rifle was lacking.
Lets be honest about canadian gun quality...
At this price you can get an HK SL8. Aka civilisn G36...
ARs are not direct impingement. The carrier isn't acted on by gas impingement, but the bolt is a gas piston that is acted upon by my gasses. It's different, for sure.
This is useful using the exact same "DI" system as an AR
@@bats8888internal piston
I hope gun owners in Canada have ways around this crap. I hope there’s plenty of contraband to go around.
I love my raven have the silver model....but i really wish i could get a dry fire kit. Since the ravens bolt groupe match up.
Nice vid man. Thanks.
Like Colion Noir says .... need money for pew pews !! hahaha !
Atleast with with this u get assured reliability and durability
Frt is for imports, you got the wrong info bud
Police use the FRT to make arrests and press charges.
Yes, you could win in court. But you have to fight it and there's also a good chance you lose. Based on recent court cases, you probably lose and all that comes with that.
wait for the gen 2 if you really want this. Not sure why they did this instead of a gen3 templar
How does this not fall under a ar15 derivative. And isnt a ar15 derivative restricted by definition (if it didnt exist when the oic was done its not prohibited, I believe). Please correct me as I must be missing something
How do people still ask these stupid questions, do you really not understand firearms at all?
I think you had USD selected on the Raven website?
It does say USD in the top corner, but it's just a quirk of their website. All the prices shown are actually in CAD.

It doesn't take AR mag and you can't swap upper or lower with AR, therefore it is not an AR ...
What’s does this mean for the Kodiac .223?
Absolutely nothing
It can take Stanang mags so I don't think anything will happen to it
Their going to release a new version that looks better but still performs like Gen 1 as per usual
@@worstcase519 Yup!! I have 2 of their rifles and no complaints.
Kodiak needs to make this platform to remain relevant imo. They haven’t dropped anything new in a while.
He's right about not pre-ordering this rifle! I pre-ordered the ATRS Modern Sporter when it first came out. Took over a year to get mine. Totally wasn't worth the wait!
Not to mention this could easily get banned with the stroke of a pen!
Proprietary mags is a huge let down. I’ll pass. Better off getting a Bren 2 on the used market.
>6061 aluminum
Nah, i'll stick with lockhart thanks. I'm sick of these low quality pot metal guns. I don't care if it uses AR carriers.
I won’t shoot anything with a 5 round mag. The Kodiak defense wk 180 556 has 10 round mags.
That’s fine but no manufacturer is allowed to produce a new gun that does what you’re asking for.

But is it reliable that might be the only thing that will make me buy this
Yes
So if I shouldn’t pre-order anything, that just leaves me with the SRV2 or the WK 180?
Serious question, what other options are there?
For Canadian stuff? WK180/181, WS MCR, Templar, SRV2, Sterling R18, and Raven.
Of course there are better rifles from Europe, but they're quite a bit more money.
@@bats8888 I really want to get the Raven, but it looks like pre-order only?
I think best option is to find a used one or one at a gun store. Try using arsenalforce(dot)ca to see if any sorres have em.
If you order through Lockhart, you will get it. But it may take a long time.
@@bats8888 ok, thanks for the advice!

This is gonna piss Polly off 😂
dont know how future proof this is
It's future proof capability comes in the form of parts. All you would need is a stripper upper and lower from an AR if you have this.
If it stays legal but we don't get ARs back, this is the closest functionally to an AR.
It's not, as soon as PolySS & the rest of the gun control groups see what their policy changes have created they will bust a nut.
What is with the hexagonal(?) shoulder thing that goes up? It's ugly, and looke fragile.
I dont see how this is better than an atrs modern sporter. At least my MS has a forward assist and can take any ar mag
Wow, commie complaint.. imagine that. 🤮
you can literally just grind the magwell and it will accept stanag mags...
Any new semi-auto centre-fire rifles, yes.
@@bats8888 damn so if Pierre gets in hill revert the stupid bill and this thing on how the law is ritten can take 10 rounders ?
