      Yeah, and I voted for JT in 2015 because he ran on a platform of eliminating "First past the post" elections so we could have a REAL democracy. Well that never happened. PP will rah-rah about Liberal gun bans so he can get votes, then once he gets your votes, he'll 180 on it so he can endear himself to urban Ontarians which is why C-21 exists in the first place.

      Yup seen. And while the socialists are still licking the snot from their collective noses, he should rescind bill c68 AND c51 effectively ridding Canadians of the CFP altogether. And then abolish all firearm registration records. Introduce one-time criminal background check…PERIOD. Back to basics.

    Exact same thing happened to my wife. I'm a rifle guy, I like shooting pistols but it was never a big concern to own one. My wife loves handguns and always wanted one. I have had my PAL license for about a year, and recently completed the RPal safety standalone course. I have also received my course report back in the mail. I can't find anywhere on the RCMP website on how to specifically apply for the RPal as an add-on, and can't find much advice as most people take the back-to-back NR and R course and apply for both at once. On the RCMP firearm application tab, it says you can only apply online if you've never had a valid PAL before.
    Tldr; I already have my PAL, how do I apply for RPal add on?

    • @canadianoperator
      @canadianoperator  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @RL1able
    @RL1able 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    While the number of options has certainly diminished, there are still some restricted long guns you can get with an RPAL. Politically, the more RPAL owners, the more potential sway we may have in terms of political will. For example, there are 2.3 million licensed firearms owners...a complete handgun ban would be harder to "sell" if 80% of us were RPAL holders vs. only 10%. I have always said, get it now while you still can.

    Quick question here not sure if it was covered in the video or not but for Canada Alberta specifically is there any time restrictions for a Restricted PAL? Like do you have to have a PAL for so long before you can obtain the RPAL? I couldn't really find information anywhere I am likely just being stupid in where I'm searching but I figure this is a decent spot to find new information to verify.

    • @canadianoperator
      @canadianoperator  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re not being stupid. And it’s a good question. But also it has nothing to do with the provinces. It’s a federal program, so the rules of the program apply equally to everyone. There is no limit, and in fact you can do your PAL and RPAL course in the same weekend and apply for both online if you’d like. Note that if you only apply for your PAL and do your RPAL later, you cannot apply for the RPAL online. It has to be a traditional paper application.

    Get your RPAL while you still can, even if you never plan to own a gun. Circumstances change, both personal and political, and you may one day need a firearm. I think a conservative win may be a firearms owner win but Trudeau should have taught you that urban politicians making rules around firearms is a recipe for disaster. As long as your criminal background check is clean, you should be fine. I regret letting mine lapse. Lost out (temporarily, I hope) on the chance to get a pistol or AR15. Also if you do own restricted firearms and you are living with a partner he or she should also have their RPAL whenever restricted firearms are present in the dwelling where you both live. As a RPAL licence holder you can write a letter for your common law or spouse to say these restricted firearms are on loan to he or she so they can take them to the range as well provided they have the RPAL licence.

    • @canadianoperator
      @canadianoperator  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      This is a great point. More to that, if police ever question whether your spouse has access to the firearms and the answer is yes but they don’t have a license, you’re in BIG trouble.

RPAL is a Restricted Position and Acquisition License… since we are no longer able to Acquire any restricted firearms, should we not be compensated? We all took and paid for courses and PAID processing fees for an ACQUISITION license. I’m thinking that ALL RPAL holders must be compensated accordingly… for those that never were able to acquire a restricted firearm and thus unable to exercise the POSSESSION portion of the RPAL, they should also receive additional compensation for not being able to possess. • @canadianoperator

      Have to disagree here. Despite the current legislation, handguns and the RPAL are not useless. It only depends on your use case and whether it’s practical for you. The RCMP can’t just show up and search your property. They need either reasonable grounds to believe you are a danger to someone, which would have had to have been reported, or a search warrant. In both cases, they’d need to be able to articulate why they wanted to search. Lastly, if you use any firearm to defend your home you are liable under the law based on interpretation of section 33/34 by a judge. That has nothing to do with whether you have an RPAL or not.

    My rights come from God and not from government. I may be thrown in jail, by a tyrant government, for asserting my rights but I still have the right none the less. Since the Charter of Rights and Freedoms Preamble states: "Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law." and since they cannot show me a document, signed by God, that grants them authority over me and the rights given to me by God, then they are my equal, not my master.

      To be frank, rights, at least the way we understand them, don’t actually exist. If a”God” wanted you to have them, you would. And they’d be actual rights and not temporary privileges, because rights can’t be arbitrarily taken away.
