This song was following me during one of the most difficult periods in my life, and it made me keep pushing to overcome depression. For that i am thankfull to Borknagar 🖤

I hear you my friend. I can tell you the same. Borknagar along with Dimmu Borgir and Ihsahn saved me when I thought there was no way out of an abusive marriage. Only those who have music in their soul understand that. I hope you're better now

During my young days. I'm 42yo now. In my town metal scene. There was a group of metal elitist who doesn't want to mingle with "melodic" metal guys like me, just because they only listens to "brutal" kinda metal. Maybe it's them who thumbs down this video. Well, fcuk em..i listens to whatever i want!
This song really gives you a rush of different emotions. Specially if you are struggling with some demons yourself.

The fact that the whole song is based on a single vocal melody, and still it's very interesting until the very end, means it's a very good song.

I appreciate how Borknagar is evolving. As you get older it gets less about how brutal you can make it, and just writing what speaks to you. Ulver and Mrykur have been changing that same way.
Yeah, I still miss old Ulver. Not just the first three, but everything up to Roses. Nothing since then has been good imo.
Myrkur is my favorite alongside Eivor for the past 4 years. Not to mention the more tribal bands/artists from Scandinavia, such as Heilung and Wardruna

@Dread Pirate Emeritus his other appearances on other Borknagar albums was always my favorites. I love the other singers, esp vintersorg but they all did great, however, its always Vortex that i felt was the perfect fit.......however, Lars killed it just the same as Vortex. Something about an immovable object and unstoppable force
@Dread Pirate Emeritus I totally agree with you, Lars' performance is impeccable on this record, especially on this song, but Vortex brings that intangible atmosphere that cannot be replicated.

This is one of the most perfect songs out there. Even after months of constant listening it still retains that goosebump inflicting energy.

Nedland's voice is amazing. He's a really great singer, though I still think this song is too slow and not so heavy for Borknagar. Doesn't mean I don't like it, since I'm fan of him besides the band. I just don't think is a Borknagar song

I remember their 1st Album and I loved it because it was melodious and harsh. After all this years I've grown and Borkanagar still too. I love this so much!

The lyrics were intense already, and the video made me cry because (oddly) it shows most of my fears... This is a masterpiece and Lars' voice only makes it even better. 10/10 I bow to you guys. Legends.

The whole album really delivered, this song is good and ended up being one of my least favorite because most of the album is just awesome.

Trying to find something that can top Vortexes part in The Sacrilegious Scorn, crazy thing is that he sounds better Live. Btw have you heard Khemmis - the bereaved? Some nice clean vocals on there.

First time listening to this band, this is beautiful.
Wow! I would give you some top borknagar songs from throughout their entire time together, but there are so many good songs it would be a disservice. Their first album is actually pure folk black metal, then subsequent albums each get more progressive and interesting. Also, the vocalists have been interchanged like 5 or 6 times so it might be confusing lol. The singer here joined the band in 1999 as a keyboardist, but i believe the first time he sang was in the origins album.

ICS VORTEX has proven himself to be one of the most accomplished musicians in metal. He takes on harsh vocals on this record and he is brilliant!
He is not Vortex. The singer is Lars "Lazare" Nedland and that is his song.

I questioned myself for years, had tough times and now i'm having some health issues due to stress. This track was not the favorite one from the album, but i knew the spirit of "True North" and the concept. This song was playing into my head, i'm not making and listening music for a few months. I feel that it healed me when i listen this song, felt no pain but the spirit. Music speaks the language we cannot describe and I'm so happy to know these guys and be a musician. I hope i'll be allright soon and make beautiful music.

Not every band can stand along with Tool, Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Abbath, Rammstein, Sabaton, Sonata Arctica and many others. You've made an amazing work, thank you

Not at all what I expected, but I like it. Surprisingly simple in structure for Borknagar, but amongst the musical labyrinths of their other works, this stands out for having it's own sound.
Holy shit, the moment the guitars jump in is magical! Great song!
