Yay! A new video! Thank you and can’t wait for the peek at the documentary! I’m not a mother but was so hoping for a Sunday Funday/ mother’s day video. Hope Maya is feeling better. Best to you both!
You’re doing the right thing with the mold remediation. I’ve been permanently disabled by hidden mold in my home. I don’t think people realize that mold can exist/ grow/ be a danger but also not be seen. Not show any indication it’s even there! The home remedies are fine for small amounts of visible, manageable mold. But not for a case like this. ❤️
You’re doing a great job. Most people don’t understand that renovation work takes an enormous amount of effort. You must do every little detail, and do it correctly, to have a satisfying result.
Try straight denatured alcohol with your OOOO steel wool. You can eliminate the crud kutter and the aligatoring. Finish with satin polyeurethane which will never crack & craze again.
The process you are using with the shellac is not what I'm used to seeing. Normally you'd strip the old finish (which if it's alligatoring is usually old shellac), sand/fill to get the imperfections out, and then apply a few layers of new shellac with a brush to reach the desired shade (will darken over time), and then use a wax finish. I know you're looking for a quicker result, but maybe it could be something to try on some of the more prominent rooms.
Agree. Surfaces should be prepared before applying a finishing product like that. I know Lindsay is trying to save some time and work but unfortunately, I don't think this is something that shouldn't be done halfway as they will most likely regret the results.
I guess some holes in the plastic is inevitable having been exposed during winter. Love the glasses! They look really great on you!! I actually have no idea what shellac is, I have known the word for years, nut no idea what it is! So, internet search after this comment! I also watch the channel 1834 restoration house, they recommended shellac in their latest episode to use as undercoat when a stain on a wall comes through the paint.
It was so nice to see you posted today. I was wondering and hoping everything was OK. So sorry about Maya. I hope she starts felling better. Our fur babies are so important 💙
I Just love you two!!! I know y’all must be anxious to get things done. I hope the weather will be good to get that mold job done so you can start rebuilding. I do love those glasses. Thank you for sharing with us. Was fantastic to see you both and glad Maya is feeling better. It’s not easy caring for an older pup, I’ve had a few in my lifetime. No matter what just remember “All Dogs go to Heaven” 🥰 one of my favorite animated movie 🍿
Awwwww!! We are anxious to get started... and also.. it's funny how even though we have deadlines I also don't want it to go by too fast. You don't get to do something like this very often.
So, Doctor, I am an artist who prefers to work at night....does this reverse the rule about day time drinking? (Just playing with you as you do your 'shower beer'!) Love your videos, your humor and your freshness.
I do believe that does reverse it!! haha... but as I get older I am less inclined to need to follow the "rules".... so, drink responsibly whatever that means for you! 😄 I don't know how I never heard of a shower beer before now!
You two have had your share of challenges on this house for sure. I appreciate your perseverance and good attitude. I'm cheering you on in WA state (we are having a wet cold spring also). I hope Maya feels better I know how it feels caring for a senior fur baby. I really hope this house becomes is a blessing to you both!
Shower beers are the best! Mine were my reward after a day of yard work. (Only thing better might be diving into a swimming pool but, barring that, a shower beer.)

Awwww... Well, we'll have to start those up again! 😍

So true! THE DETAILS!
Where are you guys?? I miss you 2 and the Grand Lady...I grew up in that neighborhood back in the 60's

I'm definitely learning the quick fixes recommended on TH-cam aren't worth it!
Love the shower curtain!!!
Pretty eyeglasses! Things are coming along 🙂

I hope you laugh when you find out what shellac is. 😁 And undercoat for paint??/ interesting! I have a friend with that issue....thank you!!

I love the new glasses!
Have you considered laying up new plaster? Drywall won't last and you lose the benefits that plaster walls provide, such as mold resistance.
April in CNY is reliably unreliable.... it never fails to be the opposite of what you expect!

When are you going to start back on videos? I am waiting and waiting.

My dad worked nights as a nurse and would come home at 8am for a beer before bed! So yes!
