CNG as I'm using one. Upfront cost of EV is costly. One also needs to factor what if they rather invest/ trade that extra money in stock or crypto market? Battery replacement cost is also a concern. However the petrol + CNG car can be driven for 15yrs. One may also get a used petrol car and install a CNG kit and that would be the cheapest option.

Bro i have nexon ev and dzire cng. I have calculated it for one year and there’s no difference between ev and cng running cost. Both are costing me 2 rupees per km. And i have peace of mind while using dzire because if the cng gets empty i can run it on petrol but when i use nexon i am always in search of charging station and my trip gets spoiled. So i prefer cng over ev.

Lol yep. My office is 60kms away from my home, I have taken a flat on rent near it. That 1rk costs me around 15k per month. By road it would cost me 5 kgs of CNG a day even at an average of 24 which would be around 300 INR, which should be close to about 6000 INR a month assuming I go to office 20 days. In the case of an EV that would be about 120 INR a day, should be close to about 2250 INR. 12000 kms a year is like nothing, a 1000 kms a month? Like 34 kms a day? Why even buy a car at that point just use public transport.

Future of Solar Energy and Ev is Very bright.
You can reduce your Ev Electricity cost to almost zero if you have some area on your roof and you can install a ongrid solar system which will produce maximum solar energy and hence reduce elec. cost.
When you install solar system for home alone it's ROI time is more (4-5 year) comparision to you have a four wheeler Ev and you will use your solar system for charging your Ev than for both ev and solar system you will greatly Save Money 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑Sindhi 😆

A flaw is the basic assumption that we drive 12,000 km on an average per year. We drive less because of the cost of fuel. EV changes our behavior. You tend to drive more when you own an EV. Increase the 1000 km per month to 1500 km or 2000 km and results will be very different. EV's will break-even within 5-6 years itself. And lastly, point to note is you lose your car's warranty the moment you fit a CNG kit. Thanks for taking the pain to compare so I only had to bring this out. Good comparison. Keep it up!

Aapne CNG car retro fit ka rate bataya hai..50000 aur EV le li new Nexon EV. EV par rebate aur EV jaisa power,Torque,Automatic transmission zero NVH etc. are some of the advantages of EV. So Comparison is not fair. Compare Tigor XE EV with Aura S CNG after adding minimum 70k for AMT so we can get much closer to the cost of ownership.

I think you should have compared with the Tigor XZA+ model with automatic, since the EV offers additional convenience of not having gear shifts, so ~60,000 rupees more. Also, in a few years re-sale of petrol/diesel/CNG cars will go down significantly, once EVs become more mainstream and also because EVs are low-maintenance. So depreciation on CNG car will be much higher than EV.

The only thing we can do is save environment, other than that there is not much advantage to get EV cars. EV bikes may have future in 1-2 years but cars are still out of scope. @@RajuMondal-gz9df Yes, charging a battery to 100% constantly does reduce the lifecycle of the battery considerably and the ability to hold charge decreases. EXCEPT you are forgetting the fact that all EVs have a hardlimiter of 80% put on the battery packs that doesn't let them charge above 80% at all. Plus these are not your commonly found batteries, these are EV packs, these are made to ensure minimum heat generation whilst charging and proper cooling and insulation to ensure the damage is minimized per charge. I have an iPhone that I have been using for almost 3 years now and the battery health shows a good 95% right now. Surely an EV can do better.

I would like to add one point that the battery cost of EV is around 4-5 lacks, and it has to be changed after 8-10 years, I think Tata motors considers a battery good if its 60% capacity remaining, you can do more research on this, so if you add the battery replacement cost per year (5lacs divided by 10) and add it as a maintenance cost per year then the picture would change drastically.

First of All Battery is going to last for 3000 charge cycles ( to its full capacity) please note one complete charge i.e. 0 to 100% makes 1 cycle if car is charged from 50% to 100% then it will be considered half cycle and so on
So as per simple mathematics 3000 / 365 days equals to slightly more than 8 years (approx)
Charging your vehicle in daily basis is most unlikely.
Second Battery pack is modular means it’s placed in blocks and if any block got damaged or degraded over the time then only the affected ones needs replacement not the whole battery pack.

vhink biggest issue with CNG is also also boot space is not available if you want travel some long distance, but EV this problem won't be there, besides people who can or already have solar panel at there residence or in the office or in there factory can also charge there EV as per there convince. But offcourse then you really need to go deeper in terms of calculation. Besides i also observed that people who often travel abroad or have people coming from abroad CNG cars becomes bit of problem because where do you expect to keep there airport size briefcases, so yes before buying car one has think deeper. Ideally EV is the answer for person who stays in bunglow because solar panel can be installed whenever they feel like & second condition is if the person is ideally driving approximately 100 kms a day.

8 years is the warranty. Doesn't mean it should be scrapped after 8 years. Do you change your phone's battery just after the 6 months warrenty is over? For the debate lets say it will have 30% of performance drop, and we want to get the exact performance of batteries like the new one even after rigorous 8 years, batteries will be much much lesser in prices and will be slices of half to one third. Also the batteries have compartments consists of blocks, which includes cell pack and which can be easily replaced individually (if one of the block/ cell pack is not working properly). Therefore the batteries replacement cost will also be really minimal after 8 years. Think of 2014 what where the price of a 1000mAh portable charger? And what's the price now? don't get wrong perceptions and opinions on the basis of half baked knowledge.

Also one more thing if everything goes wrong like something happened in PETROL CNG CAR, MAXIMUM ENGINE REBUILD COST WOULD BE LESS THAN 2 LAKH WHICH IS RARE but In EV if something happened which is not covered in warranty or insurance or after 8 years, cost will be more than 5 lakhs.

After that EV's battery becomes concern...You need to replace it with huge amount..... and CNG car in upcoming years would be more cheaper to use because at time cost of cng would effectively reduce by new innovations and emissions would be greatly reduced. More over in upcoming years cost of battery would be drastically increased because of depletion of lithium. Motor damage cost is also a concern. • @sudeep9198

A good comparison. I would say the video does demonstrate how one should do the calculations to figure out if ev justify his needs, but the tigor ev has a very minimal range not sure how much of long distance travels are possible. In the same way a cng kit takes up almost the entire boot space so both the cars compared are not good for long distance runs. A user who drives local and does occasional long distances would hardly ever reach that 12000km a year avg. What I'm most sceptical about is that the charging ports and other infra and parts are not yet standardised. I have been considering an ev to replace my petrol sedan. But am always indecisive when it comes to is the tech already standard or will we see a new gen of batteries and ecus in a few years and these current gen evs would just be another e2o story.

    1. You can ad a one think that the batteries need to maintanence like (Distilled water) company claims that this is maintanence free, but after few years we need batteries to fill water. Otherwise batteries will die😂
    2. In CG, most of the house has 2KV Single phase connection, we cannot exceed 2KV in single phase, otherwise we need 3 phase connection, and the main point is 3 phase connection wiring is not done in our house, which is Trouble.
    3. I think in our state, there are no any CNG pumps, Don't know if there will be one or two pumps avail or not....
    4. And last one is, after 8 years, we need to change the batteries, which huge amount of our pocket, 30kw batteries approx 4_4.5 lacs.... which is a big hole in our pocket.

Tata is offering same warranty as Nissan Leaf which was launched in 2012 I believe and those cars are still running fine even today. Tata has upgraded battery technology by using liquid based cooling solution for batteries. So these will last longer than Nissan Leaf.
