I think part of what makes that rein so strong is that the hammer connects even if he swung it before he blinked. Like, if the hammer is about to finish swinging, and he blinks, it can still hit on a good majority of his screen.
Interestingly enough, the same works for Tracer. That's how the best Tracer players like Kabaji make their play so fast, they melee before the blink.
@@ArcNine9Angel It's very odd especially with Rein because the hitbox of the hammer actually moves across the screen, so for it to still hit on the right of the screen when the hammer is on the left, is very odd.

I loved the entire enemy team standing on top of literally everything they could to try and stay out of hammer time xD
Here is how the mode works (this also explains the issue with the heal boost):
They spawn dummy bots which are workshop-controlled and use their abilities when you press the corresponding buttons. The dummys are moved with you. If you move, the dummys move along. The dummys are set to invisible and phased out to not influence the projectiles and vision of the enemy team (they die with you tho). But they still can be targeted by Swift step, GA, Nanoboost (!) and Heal/damage boost (!). While this doesn't matter for the first two abilities, it matters a lot for the other ones. For Example, you can accidentaly nanoboost the bots instead of the player (Nanoboost is broken anyway in this mode, if you nano the teammate, only the primary and secondary fire will be boosted, not the abilities. Same goes for damage boost. But for Heal boost, it matters more). If you nano the bots, their abilities get boosted, but you won't get the damage reduction. For Heal boost, if you boost the wrong player, you don't get healed. That is the problem with those abilities.

Anyone else notice that Cass nade didn't stop Flats from blinking? It would give him the hindered status but he would be able to just blink anyway
That's because of how they have the abilities set up.
They have an invisible bot attached to the player to use the abilities. That's why flats didn't get healing nor hindered because the bots are taking the effects
Also it's probably because how hindered is coded these aren't their abilities so the hinder effect is still removing their old abilities
That's because the blink comes from an invisible tracer.
Either that or it's coded in workshop to make him blink, which means it wont be affected by hinder

i also think it should not be omni-directional. meaning if you want to thrust backwards, you have to turn around

@@ArcNine9AngelThey did use some of the cut hero skills in the Battle For Olympus event, so I feel like it's pretty likely we'll see more of them in other game modes.
It would probably break rein entirely, but could you imagine if charge was reworked to be short range dodges similar in feel to the dashes of titans in titanfall, and he gets like two? Not as instant as tracer blink and stops actions but lets him have the mobility with a little less commitment and clunk as with charge. Somehow Rein with blink *feels* like a step in the right direction and I think it'd just be cool to see as a concept

Yeah, the scuffed healing is also why zarya bubbles were odd before as its just a proximity bubble. Melee and other aoe damage was not blocked.

It would be kinda cool to give rein a strafe ability. (think brig shield bash but solely movement focused and multi directional)
Idea: 3v3 (1 of each role) and they all have random abilities corresponding to the role, like random tank abilities on the tank and so on, could be interesting

Tbh in a far future patch, Tracer and Rein worked out a tech for Rein to do this and make it canon so it gets patched into the game. I'd play Rein religiously with that. Translocator and emp not needed, just slam. No firestrike needed either.

Heroes are being overlayed into each other but only one is visible at any time.
So when he uses Mei freeze or reaper ult he briefly turns into Mei or reaper.
I would imagine if you had wrecking ball grapple hook it would make your character keep shifting appearance every time you use grapple.
