    I made this tonight with ground turkey. I skipped the jalapeno pepper, but used all of the other spices. I also used Better Than Bouillon Turkey Base to make the broth instead of beef broth. (We don't eat a lot of beef.) It was delicious! Thank you for your wonderful recipes.

    Simply the best! I’ve been making this for about a year now, and I just made it with 100% 80/20 ground beef and it was perfect. So simple but seems to get better over time.

    Hi. I'm new to pressure cooking. I was torn between the Instant pot or the Ninja Foodi. I went with the Ninja. Was searching you tube for some recipes with cooking with the Ninja and came across your channel. I really like your style. Now I'm a new subscriber. Now I really can't wait for the Ninja to get here. Thank you, for all your great recipes and your vivacious personality.

    OK, here's my recipe for a dip. Layer the bottom of a glass pan with cream cheese, top with chili, top that with lots of cheddar cheese. bake for about 20 mins on 350 or until all the cheese is melted and serve with fritos,tortillas, or pita chips. It's a BIG hit!

    Omg I'm making it right now at 10am lol. It smells so good now I used 3 pounds of ground beef, 1 pound of sirloin they had ground beef on sale 😊, the whole container of beef stock so I basically doubled the recipe. It fit too believe it or not lol. I cannot wait to try it. We eat chili with rice and cornbread mixed in and cheese in top. It helps stretch when you have a big family and they had sweet mini peppers on sale bogo here in florida. Thank you again for an amazing recipe💕

    Made this for myself as my wife suffers from GERD so most foods and spices are off her menu (don't worry, I cook special for her). Chili was unique, at least for me, as I've not seen the 2 meat thing done before. Made for a meaty textured chili, not typically found. Excellent flavor and the top round was VERY tender. Went to the butcher and got a 1/4 pound of each. Made enough for 2 healthy sized servings. Very good recipe and even easier in the SmartFoodi OL701. Thanks.

    Just ordered the 8Q Ninja food I and I’m so excited. I just wanted to thank you so much for spending your time and energy (and your hubby’s) testing out and providing great recipes. Have a great day. looking forward to cooking. I always add veggies like celery and carrots to my chili and instead of very strong tomatoes paste I add in both 1/2C of ketchup and 1/2 C of garlic bbq sauce. We like it sweeter rather than spicy.

    I do not add beans. In Oklahoma beans are what you eat with cornbread and chili is what you eat with crackers or fritos. I also add a little unsweetened cocoa powder and a diced poblano pepper or two. I will agree with the cheese and a little sour cream.

    We usually make our Chilli in a slow cooker taking 6 hours to be perfect (our recipe is 90% the same). Thought we would try your instructions in our new Ninja foody 750. 1 hour for perfection. In fact, I would say better and the meat kept its shape more. This means a Chilli has gone from an all-day treat to a 1-hour evening meal. Fantastic. Thank you so much.

    It was a rainy, dismal day today and chili seemed like the perfect comfort food. I made this while watching your video, and it was absolutely delicious! Not too spicy at all, although the chipotle, Cholula and jalapena had me worried. Since you asked about toppings we had sour cream, shredded cheddar and diced red onion. Although I had Fritos on hand (we always seem to have Fritos on hand) no one gave them a try. I've stored the abundant left overs in the freezer for a future meal! Louise, you have brought the joy back in cooking for me!

    Made this several times now - tastes great. Personal notes - would definitely drain the ground beef fat. I cut down the amount of beef broth because this recipe was a slight bit more soupey than I like my chili. Closer to two cups beef broth instead. I also add one poblano pepper for extra smokey/depth in flavor but I also love poblano in chili. Tried with ground turkey - didn't diminish the taste.
    Great chili base to tweak to your own personal tastes!

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's interesting that you say this because the first several times I made it, it wasn't soupy at all, but this last time I made it it was a little to liquidy. I think it really depends on the meat and I agree to drain the juices or reduce the broth if you have too much juice from the meat.

    my chili thing isnt so much a topping, but here it is, i make plain white rice and put a scoop in my bowl, then a layer of shredded cheese, then top it up with chili, my son would do it when id make chili for him and it stuck. that hot sauce is great but my go to is frank's red hot, not killer on the heat but a nice pepperie vinegar taste.

    Love this recipe...Have 2 questions. Can I cut recipe in half? Live alone and will freeze left overs in portions, but I'm afraid 10 servings too much. Plus what does the water signal mean, where is it and what do you do? Perhaps you've answered this...if so point me to the answer. Just a side note Breakfast Burritos were a big hit at my house on Saint Patricks Day, followed by a bigger hit of your corned beef and cabbage & soda bread.

      Absolutely, this recipe can be cut in half very easily, just cut everything in half and it should be just fine. You can get the water signal on the Ninja Foodi screen for several reasons. Not enough thin liquid on the bottom, something is stuck on the bottom and burning, your seal isn't on correctly and the steam is leaking out therefore evaporating the water, you have the valve set to vent and not seal. If this happens, stop the Foodi and you have to see what is going on. Sometimes you can just add water and fix the seal or the valve. Sometimes the food is burnt and hard to salvage. I'm so glad you enjoyed the burritos and the corned beef!

    My grocery market does not have top sirloin like the one you used in this recipe. But they do have a sirloin cap. Would I be able to use that instead and just cut off the cap fat? They also have sirloin steaks that I could cut up. Or they have ground sirloin 90/10. Which one would be best to go with the ground beef?

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use whatever is least expensive between the sirloin cap and the sirloin steaks. You can also just use all ground beef instead of the steak. I just like the texture difference between the ground beef and the steak pieces.

      @@TheSaltedPepper okay, I'll price both of them and see which is cheapest. I really would like to try it with steak instead of all ground beef. I have another question... I've looked up several chili recipes online. My question is beans or no beans? And why or why not?

      You certainly can and I’m guessing 4 hours on high would be enough.

    Oyster crackers are my favorite topping! Also cheese and sour cream. But I also add chocolate inside the chili while it cooks (either a chocolate bar or a packet of hot cocoa mix if I make it really spicy)

    I've had a problem similar to that where the button popped up but it wasn't coming up to pressure what I have found is once it started to come up to pressure in the button pops up if it hadn't started to count down push down on the lid normally I've seen where the lid just doesn't have a really good seal so it takes a lot more pressure for it to finally kick in but if you push the lid down a lot of times it'll automatically take off and start cooking and timing

    Just made this and it's absolutely DELICIOUS.. I added another tomato paste but it's still a little too watery for me.. any idea what went wrong? I followed the recipe exactly as you stated , i only omitted the jalapeno . The taste is Amazing but i prefer a thicker Chili ... ??

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That happened to me the last time I made it and I think it was the meat I used. It gave off more juices and made it a little too thin. Once it sits, it will thicken up. In the future, I would drain any more than 1/4 cup of juices from the meat.

    Hi your recipe looks delicious! Do you drain and rinse the kidney beans or add them with the canned fluid they come in? Thanks again. A Fan.
