    I must admit, I didn’t have high hopes for this recipe. Not because of the ingredients, but because of how quick it was done. Boy was I wrong!! I am so in love with this recipe, I will be making it often! Also, thank you so much for demonstrating how it’s done! That really helped!

    I made this recipe for my Holiday dinner. I only made one slight change, I put my chopped potatoes in the pot with everything else. Previously, no matter what I did, I could never get my roast tender. This was a hit! Thanks Salted Pepper!

      Update: I used a shoulder roast instead of a chuck. had to pull the vegetables out and give the shoulder another 15min pressure. that did the trick.. fell right apart. Love this thing! 1 hr from pot getting pressure to gravy done. Delish.

    I remember my first pot roast I had at an American base in Germany about 40 years ago. I am going to do this on Sunday to surprise my wife, it seems simple but its not something you see in the UK. I think this would be good done with lamb too. Thank you so much for sharing.

    I just made it! Well, I WAS gonna post a picture....but my hub and grandson got to it before I got to camera! Guess they loved it! All the carrots-GONE! Almost the entire 2.75lb roast gone! So, it was a hit! What I wanted to mention was I made it with just 2 cups of liquid and it made plenty for gravy! This was a perfect recipe to break in my Foodi! 20 👍🏻👍🏻🥰

    I used your recipe for the pot roast and we love it. Had plenty left over and tried your suggestion of making beef stew. I thickened the gravy a little more and it was fantastic. My husband said it's the best beef stew he's ever eaten and I have been making it in a pressure cooker for decades. Just not the same seasonings and mushrooms. The meat was more tender prepared your way. Thank you so much. With winter almost here it's a great cold weather comfort food.

    I made this tonight followed your cooking method with the meat chunks , added 2 cups beef stock , instead of wine I add a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a 1/2 tablespoon of tomato paste. Then cooked with veggies as instructed. I made gravy like you showed and it turned out simply amazing! Looking forwards to your next scrumptious creation in Foodie!

      It’s cooking now... is it normal for steam to still escape when pressure cooking and for it to make a loud hissing sound? The vent is switched to “seal”...

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, that isn't normal. If it is coming from around the lid, your seal isn't in all the way. You need to turn the Foodi off and investigate because you will run out of liquid.

    I made this tonight after watching your video! My husband wanted pot roast for his birthday dinner, so of course I had to grant his wish! I used a 3lb chuck roast in my 8qt foodi. I followed your instructions exactly, except I used 1c wine and about 1.5c broth. And I didn't have the fresh spices, so I only used dried. It yielded PLENTY of liquid. I even made the gravy how you said, and my husband said that the gravy is what made it! 😂 Thanks so much. I'm a new subscriber and am loving your recipes!!!

    Hello Louise, I tried this recipe tonight and my family said it was the best pot roast I had ever made! I followed your detailed instructions and everything was delicious! However,I have never cooked with wine and did not have any on hand when I pulled up your video today. Luckily, my father had some 15 year old home made black berry wine available and I used that in place of the red wine and it worked perfectly. I did have the same issue with the gravy though because of my own impatience, but like you I managed to pull it off. By the way I loved the expression on your face when you first tried the dish, my wife had the exact same look, lol! She was hoping we would have leftovers for the next several days, but by the time my twins(19 years old- one boy- one girl) and my son's girlfriend ate, there was very little left over. Also, if you are still interested in the holder for your pressure cooker lid, please let me know and I would be happy to order one and send it to you as a gift for all of your great ideas! Thank you again for such great recipes, you really do work out all of the issues so our dishes come out almost as good as yours! I am glad you are feeling better and hope you have a blessed weekend.

      The Salted Pepper I made this yesterday! I loved it! I couldn’t stop eating the meat. I used three large carrots 🥕 cut in half. The only thing I didn’t put in was mushrooms 🍄. 🤭 Not of fan. At all. My husband didn’t care that the potatoes 🥔 were as soft as they were, so next time the veggies go in a bit later. Loved the garlic too!! Definitely will make again!!😋
      If I could figure out how to put a picture here I would! ♥️

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Barb Graf I’m glad you enjoyed it! Did you use Yukon gold potatoes? Mine were soft, but not a bad texture soft, so I’m curious if yours were mushy? Maybe mine were bigger? I’m a real funny person about texture and flavor, so I’m always curious to hear feedback. I’ll also be curious to hear how things go when you add the veggies later on! 🥰

    • @barbg6891
      @barbg6891 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Salted Pepper Yes I did use Yukon Gold potatoes. They were medium sized and just real soft. Not mushy. The others I had were way too large. The carrots were pretty soft too. Bought those individually so I can get larger in diameter. So for me I didn’t use all the flour for the gravy. Using Sear/Sauté on high I sifted, waited until bubbling and stirred vigorously after each tablespoon. I only used about 3/4 of the remaining flour. It was plenty thick for us.
      Thanks again for a new spin on pot roast!! ♥️😋♥️

    I made this tonight and everyone loved it. I used two chuck roast for a total of appox. 6lbs. I got the 8 qt foodi and did as you said cut it up into 4 in blocks. And it does make it easier to brown up. The only thing I did different was, I know nothing about wines. So I used a can of beef broth, reduced salt. Then added a beef bouillon cube. The gravy turned out very good.

    I made my roast but seasoned the meat first with heavy salt pepper onion powder then seared it on high and added garlic and other herbs to the pot, we are on keto so no flour for us! I sifted in a tiny bit of coconut flour for the gravy and add 1/8 tsp of ground pysillim husk to make it thick. We cannot do potatoes or carrots as it is too high in carbs and sugar that adds to weight gain for us but used onions and celery. Came out wonderful I did 35 min and it was perfect! Thank you for your videos they are an insperation using Ninja Foodie which I love cooking in for keto desserts as well and no weight gain! ❤

    Love your videos. Really learned something on sifting flour into the gravy mixture and letting it absorb. Never seen it done this way, awesome. If I were serving this for dinner, and I know you wanted it cooled for tasting at the end, I would have put my oven on warm mode, covered the platter with foil, and put it in oven to keep warm while making the gravy.

    Just a tip on the gravy if you don't like lumps. I put my flour and seasonings in a quart jar; add COLD water and shake, to make a thick pourable liquid. Bring your broth to a boil and slowly whisk it in. Viola! No lumps!

    I can't wait to try this recipe. I couldn't stop admiring your egg spiral in the back ground. I love it. I have to add. I am the same way with impatient gravy making. I usually end up whisking the hell out it and calling any lumps intentionally rustic.

    • @fzintzun
      @fzintzun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have to try the cabbage. Sounds like it would be a good addition. Did you add the cabbage in large chunks?

    • @floydthebarber9956
      @floydthebarber9956 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fzintzun Yes. We top it off with half of a cabbage cut into 4 chunks. Or sometimes we'll take the half of cabbage, cut that in half, and then spread the leaf pieces out over the top. The only reason we use half is because there's no more room. And as an occasional treat we'll use baby potatoes whole. Then once in a while we'll turn the leftovers into beef stew. Great recipe cooked to perfection under pressure.
