    Please confirm with the manufacturer the installation required for your specific vehicle as the process can change slightly with each model year.

Call me old fashion but I get a better read off on things if.I have gauges. I know being electric all anyone would really bother with is the digital readout, but not having a gauge is really bothersome. Can’t gauge speed accurately with just a digital readout.

    • @Donslife

      Android (Linux based) comes with more features and stuff to the point it is less secure, whereas this device runs directly on Linux making it more stable. No updating required. Just wire up and use.

I also own a Lexus LS430. I have owned it for about 15 years now and there are features that I never used or either set to a preferred setting and never touched again. The only thing I wish the Tesla had that it does not are physical buttons for volume, A/C and wipers. And all of the media stuff you can either stream form you phone or stream form the car itself. If you want this thing go for it. I just see people referencing this as an issue so often. I really don't think it is as big a deal as it is made out to be.

      In the US and Canada it would likely have to be proven to have caused a system to fail. There are laws to protect consumers when adding and changing parts on their vehicles.

    This is basically the same thing as the hansshow screen right? Or is this one improved upon that version? Also if tesla releases a v12 software update down the road, does the screen need to be updated too?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are differences. Depending on the model of Hansshow you are looking at…Integrated GPS, screen sizes, Android OS or Linux (yes there is a difference despite Android using a modified version of the Linux kernel), bezel thickness and some have USB A not USB C for updating . I can’t say which is better value or a better product, I have only reviewed the one product.
      Updating the firmware can be done via the USB C port on the unit.

    Question. When you were flipping through the screen; Changing the car showing lights on section then doors being opened, tire guage pesssire etc... Can you toggle from steering wheel? Or do you have to use the screen? I don't want to be reaching for the screen while driving. Thank you.

      I installed it today. No lag at all for me. Even the doors were showing instant. The harness is hard, it’s way up under the dash. This video doesn’t say, but you need to also push down a clip on the harness to pull it out. Don’t just yank on the wires.

    I would have liked to hear if that affected the ability for the fans to blow on the driver, and how much. Also, using apple car play, does the audio still play through the tesla audio system? Id hope its not through the small speaker on that unit.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apple CarPlay can play through the Tesla’s speaker system via Bluetooth or the tiny built in speaker. Sorry about the fan. Since the weather was on the cooler side but not freezing, there was no thought to test it during the video recording.

    • @Donslife

      Yes it plays your Apple Music, Spotify, etc (whatever is on Carplay) through the Tesla speakers via Bluetooth. The main Tesla screen will only show you are connected to Bluetooth audio. The extra LCD screen will show whatever is playing on CarPlay

    The screen itself is better than other, but the interface isn't that good. It could make better use of the space. It should work more like the model S front screen, with navigation too.
