Isn't that such a stunningly unexpected way for a serial killer to be discovered. A prostitute has a mental breakdown and calls the police saying she's being attacked, then proceeds to accidentally drown exactly where a serial killer of prostitutes had been dumping bodies for years. If that's the kind of luck it takes to find a serial killer graveyard then how many are never discovered

It’s a bit too coincidental, don’t you think? I just do not agree she isn’t part of the same crimes. And there may be more than one killer. Some of the search warrants list looking for evidence of conspiracy-may just be his brother covering for him or may not. That town is a dark, dark place.

Most serial murder cases seem so distant in history, watching one unfold in this time is an odd feeling. I feel sick in a different way, it's so disturbing knowing he was walking around free just a few weeks ago and how many others are. Humans are scary.
Him calling up these women's family members and friends saying he's going to watch them decay, my brain just wants to reject that someone is capable of such depravity. What even is this world?

1 person out of 8 billion+ kills a handful of people, sure it’s absolutely horrific, but we’re a lot safer now than 50-60 years ago. Those were the days you’d go to a big city and have 2-3 serial killers active + truckers going around, everything was a threat. The death of innocence, I’d say. The end of the age of the Good Samaritan. Heck, back then you’d get serial killers racking up a 40 person+ body count.
We’re safer now than ever from violent crime not tied to drugs, the only thing I could see as a true threat that really hasn’t changed is SA. Killers realistically cannot exist in an age with genealogy tech advancing. Eventually, people will realize this. The killers today most likely feel as if they have nothing to lose. Fear those people, to be honest.

Because for the most part it plays out like it does in this video. What's scarier is the fact there are more murders happening than you think, not all of them get reported in news same as missing people, so there is a chance you can live next to a serial killer and you will never know until they are caught or YOU become a victim yourself.

It was he, BTK, & David Koresh that got me interested in Forensic Psychology & Criminal Justice to begin with!
The scary thing is at any given moment there’s up to 25 serial killers operating across the country! We now have a database for HSK Highway Serial Killers.

@@SlipknotForevahokay....we're a lot safer, good. But it is still incredibly scary knowing that there are people out there with the capacity to do things like this. It is so far away from MY reasoning MY capacity of empathy and justice and everything good that it defies comprehension. It's like how vast infinity is...I KNOW of it conceptually but on a personal level I could never fully comprehend and it seems like some sort of fairy tale to earnestly reflect upon it.
To know that their are people out there FUNCTIONING/THRIVING and masquerading as something we should aspire to with this level of empathy (none... and in fact need thrills to feel pleasure) in society with no repercussions since they're victims aren't murders but 'just' the injustices of the world...did you know that CEO's have a MUCH higher percentage of being clinically psychopathic to do the work they do? No person with empathy and long term thinking skills for societal well being could sign off on some of the heartless things they do....As a society we don't often see them for what they are since I earnestly think in a certain way a lot of psychopaths/sociopaths/narcissists have toxic traits we seem to envy and want to emulate. We put these people on pedestals and pretend like they are okay and anyone with a different opinion is treated like the outsider...it is a society problem as in what we value.... anyways rant over.
All I initially came here to say was, it is like looking at a skin walker....they may look and act like we do, but that's only because they are deceiving us as all times...it is absolutely terrifying the wolf in sheep's clothing...and for anyone with deviant thoughts believing they are normal, get help....they are not.

      @heathermillsphantomlimb9314 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

I wouldn’t be surprised if his dormant period started right when he got married. It would also explain the change in his M.O. Before, he was single and didn’t have anyone expecting him home, so he had plenty of time to dismember the bodies and dump them where he wanted. After he got married, he quit for awhile because his wife would expect him home most of the time, and he couldn’t just take off for a few hours at a time. Eventually though, his urges catch up to him and his home life becomes routine, so he wants that feeling again. The only difference is that he doesn’t have all night or a proper place to dismember bodies. It also wouldn’t look good for him to show up at home covered in scratches and blood. So, he just strangles them, wraps them up, and dumps them at his spot. I’d also bet he wore leather or other thick clothes when he killed those women, specifically so they couldn’t scratch or bite him and leave marks.

She got married to a horrible man (in jail for attempted murder) - he introduced her to drugs and she became addicted. She has a disabled kid that her Dad watches.
She would always be in nice hotels. I would pick her up to shop groceries, occasionally we would have coffee or even a cocktail. She had an arrest record and had some enemies stemming from her addiction. She had no social media at all. She said it’s hard for her to get and hold down a job so on etc.

This was in PA - it’s a huge state with a vast wilderness and a lot of missing persons.
I love her very much as a person but to be transparent I had addiction issues as well. I think most likely she OD’d and she was claimed by the family.
To be transparent, I had addiction issues as well at the time (I was an alcoholic, did percs, xan, adderall, ambien and coke). My HOPE is that she’s ok and understandably wants to leave her past far behind and leave people like the person I was behind.

This is beyond crazy, a woman suffers an episode in which she is convinced to be chased by someone who matches the profile of the LISK and drowns in her attempt to flee from her imagined encounter with such a person, after which her body uncovers countless victims who died the way she imagined she was going to die. It almost sounds as if it can't be true. The reason I believe this was an episode and not a true event with the killer is because a person offered her shelter to hide until authorities came to help her, no person in mortal danger would react to that by running the other way. Even if the person offering help had bad intentions, if you're being chased you'll take whatever hope you get.

Kind of like when they find dog hairs on a victim, doesn't mean the dog took part. She may have said, "Their" because she thought there was more than one and/or she wasn't sure if it was a man or woman after her, she just knew someone was.
As for her not knowing about the torture chamber, similar cases have happened before. I grew up on LI, and in 2010-2012 I was in high school, in my "I wanna go into forensic psych in college" phase. I was fascinated by this case to the point where my journalism teacher and I had this off-color bit where he pretended to be convinced I was the LISK (at the time he was also called the Gilgo Beach Killer in local news).
My condolences to the ex-wife and children of the apparent real culprit. I hope they can get the support they undoubtedly need at this time.

It's crazy that the LISK finally has been identified, especially when I had just watched a documentary series on Hulu back in March about the multiple related cases. I really feel for the victims and their families, and i hope that the "Doe's" finally have their identities restored, and their families can have closure.

    Hail to Shannon Gilbert, R. I. P.
I remember seeing on zone reality, or crime investigation that law enforcement thought that 2 serial killers were lurking in the long Island area, and maybe they knew about each other and so were tossing human parts into their dumping areas to make them, one to the other, aware, or some kind of game between SK, or head's up, this is my dumping ground, almost like dexter in the TV series quickly would find another serial killer...

This story always made me imagine it like a horror movie.
Like Shannon was doing the same line of work at a different house and the spirits of the girls bombarded her with visions of their final moments.
This breaks Shannon and she flees.
The ghosts follow her trying to get her to discover them but she ends up dying in the marsh.
But eventually the ghosts got their way and Shannon wasn’t found until they were.
