The woman in the road mystery reminds me of the story of the woman and baby who's car flipped into a stream. People reported hearing a woman yelling for help but once emergency services arrived they realized the woman had been dead for sometime but the baby was still alive. Nobody can explain the yells for help and some believe that it was her spirit helping to save her child

Its a feature of babies to ensure their needs are met by the nearest adult immediately.

The frozen girl story is just one of those cases where you really gotta hand it to the doctors because if they'd panicked and rushed to warm her up, they'd probably have damaged the frozen tissues due to rapid thawing of the ice crystals. Severe hypothermia and frostbite requires incredibly delicate and precise temperature control to save tissue that is only frozen and not yet dead. Just being in room temperature too quickly can often be enough to damage the tissue beyond repair

    • @Gidister
      @Gidister 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

It probably also helped that she was taken out of the cold air by her friend. They probably got there just in time and helped in the slow process of thawing her by just being in the car. Plus they didn't seem to try and do anything physically to the body other than carry her to the car. Had they rubbed her skin ,forced her limbs to move or find her in the frozen state later, she probably wouldn't have that slim chance of survival.

Jean's story was absolutely incredible, there simply aren't proper words to describe her survival story! there was also a Norwegian woman, Anna Bågenholm, who survived an insane freezing accident while skiing- she fell face first into a frozen lake + somehow an air pocket formed which kept her from drowning. she was freezing in the water/ snow for 80 minutes before she was found. another pretty amazing survival story if you are interested to look into it.

This show I was watching about a baby who was found “frozen,” said never to assume someone who is cold and unresponsive because of the elements is dead, and to call 911 immediately. (I’m not sure why you wouldn’t call 911 immediately anyway, but I guess the writers were just trying to emphasize their point!)

The woman in the road story makes me think Deborah's intuition was correct. They didn't stop because they believed there were guys waiting to ambush them, and we know that kinda thing happens in real life. It doesn’t seem too fetched to me to think that maybe some sick individuals saw the crash, and pretended to be dead on the side of the road in order to ambush some good samaritans, but when the plan backfired, it drew attention to that very same area and the actual crash. It would explain why the body was different and disappeared. Feels more plausible than her ghost at least.

Having heard enough horror stories about such "traps", I wonder if Christine had fallen prey to such predators, who then tried to kill her and her son.

    • @evil1by1

Except you don't need an actual crash for that scam, its counter productive to pick an otherwise invisible crash scene to pull some kind of crash scene good Samaritan scam. The human body is an organism that at the cellular level and like all other animals; will fight to survive. Some of us have bodies that are successful and will make it through , while sadly the rest of us don’t. This story and the one with the athlete that literally broke her skeleton in two from a fall, are remarkable. The athlete survived for days by doing ab crunches!! I suspect her "hibernation" state was due to genetic good luck, and the fact that she was doing basically cardio-intense exercise up until the moment she passed out. Anyone who has slogged through snow more than a couple inches deep can tell you how much of a workout that is. Basically her internal organs and limbs were both infused with maximally oxygenated blood, and were continuously moving while at the same time getting colder and colder. Nothing had much of a chance to actually _freeze_ until the last moment.

The hiker's name was Danelle Ballengee. She was on a hike with her dog, Taz, somewhere in Utah, when she fell 80 feet and shattered her pelvis. She knew if she let herself fall asleep, she would never get back up, so she stayed awake for 2 entire days, fighting off cold and sleep by doing bursts of ab crunches.

@ Punk Panther, I am immensely grateful that your nephew recovered fully and is another example of how much we still don’t know about the human body and that not all questions of medicine have been answered. The body is a miraculous example of how little we know and how much there is still possible of what is sometimes not always the answer that doctors have; doctors don’t have all of the answers and they are still learning even if they think that they don’t.

    • @D-me-dream-smp
      @D-me-dream-smp ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@NatureLover-62 while it’s completely true that medicine and doctors don’t have all the answers your comment seems a bit out of place considering OP’s nephew was more than likely saved and ended up living a hale and hearty life because of the actions of doctors and the knowledge they DO have - “defrosting” a frozen person involves careful managed delicate and complex processes to ensure that damage isn’t caused to tissue or organs during the process. The “benefit” of drowning or dying in freezing temperatures is that it can slow the metabolism down enough to avoid the brain cells dying from lack of oxygen. The main problem with living tissue being frozen is that because water expands as it freezes it tends to rupture the cell walls causing them to die.
I still agree with you that the intricate, complex systems of the human body are quite extraordinary and can still astound us with what it is capable of.

The absolute scariest story I ever heard was on the show Beyond Belief Fact or Fiction with Jonathan Frakes. It was about a boy that was dared by his older brother and friends to go into the closet in the dark. He didn't want to, but eventually did. After a little bit they opened the door and he wasn't there. The local authorities had a search and everything over the coming days and nothing. So at the end of the show I'm like absolutely fiction. They ruled it as fact, and it has terrified me ever since.

“The Beyond Belief: fact or fiction story about the monster in the kid’s closet was based on an actual event that I personally investigated,” she was told. “At the time it happened there was no explanation for the boy’s disappearance- until two weeks later when it was learned that he had climbed out of the closet through a ceiling panel and ran away from home. He stayed at a friend’s house surreptitiously until the friend’s mother discovered him hiding in the attic of their home and exposed the ruse.”"

      @pinkdarkman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I'd need to see the police report to believe that story was real, but most likely scenario is the other kids killed the boy accidentally and did something to get rid if the body. Then they made up the closet story. It seems odd that kids stupid enough to think that story is believable would also be able to hide a body so well that it would never be found, though... Kids can be very clever, though, especially when it comes to covering up their wrongdoings to they don't get in trouble.

Some of my favorite unsolved mystery episodes are the ones where they’re like “can dogs somehow tel if a person is sick or in distress?“ and of course now we know the answer is “yes, absolutely, they can smell diseases and hear heartbeats and are basically Daredevil.”
The thing that’s still mysterious is how a dog without training knew a person was about to have some kind of diabetic crash or seizure, and knew it had to bark at that person until they realized something was wrong.

Survival is the strongest instinct. The will to live cannot be broken, no matter what, and these stories (and countless other miraculous survival/recovery stories) prove this.
I still vividly remember reading an article about a boy getting ran over, and the car stopped in a way that a wheel was still on the poor boy. His mother rushed out to help him (she was either of normal build, or a bit overweight, can't remember, but was not an athlete or bodybuilder), then she single-handedly managed to lift the car up so that onlookers/pedestrians were able to pull his son out from under its wheels. Instincts work in a very weird, yet undeniably strong way, if needed.

I cannot express how excited I was to stumble upon this.
The re-release of the series left out over 150 segments/cases from the entire series, including those in the initial "specials" with Raymond Burr and Karl Malden...for a variety of reasons, upon requests from either family members of those involved in some segments, and/or by law enforcement handling certain cases. Some of the best ones (which for me, includes my very favorite case/segment of all time..."L'enfant" (Bashir Kouchacji)...the creepiest segment in all of Unsolved Mystery-dom, right next to "Scared to Death" (the Cindy James case)....and as strange as "Blair's Paranoia" (the Blair Adams case)
Those are some pretty big shoes to fill.)
Some of the other "missing/lost/un-re-released" segments that were amongst the best; the MacDonald murders (Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald), the Bonnie Wilder fraud case, the "Rolex Robbers" fraud case, the Baskin kidnappings, Satanic Grandma kidnapping, the original Unabomber segment, the "Catch me if you Can" segment, the Tara Calico/creepy Polaroid case.....just to name a few.
So many of the greats, seemingly gone forever.
Except for those who have the "recorded off TV" compilation discs/torrents.
Notoriously poor quality, especially in this "ultra HD" era...but are certainly watchable in my opinion.
So, long story....long....if you choose to do another UM case compilation video like this one (you should), but want to include/feature some segments/cases that many viewers may not be familiar with because they've never had the pleasure of viewing said segments, or have only seen once or twice 20+ years ago, and have forgotten all about them....I'm more than happy provide you with whatever I have (that I obtained via torrent downloads), that are otherwise impossible to find/watch.
That was a painfully long dissertation, the point of which could have been expressed in a couple sentences, instead of a War and Peace-length blathering....my apologies.
When it comes to UM, I just get so excited that my mind turns to mush.
I've been Unsolved Mysteries-obsessed since I was like, 8 years old. And I still watch it every single day of my life, despite having seen every single segment ever made, at LEAST 300-400 times. (Yes, I'm serious. That's not hyperbole. And yes, I'm a giant loser that desperately needs a hobby.)
    But what can I say....I'm UM-obsessed.
You should do more of these videos! It's great!
And if you ever find yourself in need of some of the old stuff...I'm your gal! 🤓

When the I-70 killer suddenly stopped for 7 years then started up again, does nobody think that maybe he was locked up for something else somewhere for that time? Or even just a few years, like 3 to 5, then started a completely different MO somewhere other than 1-70. I would guess he stopped driving across all them states because he was out on parole and leaving the state would violate his parole, even just getting pulled over he can end up getting violated. So I think he did a few years, got out, switched up his hunting ground and MO a few years, until he saw his episode of Unsolved Mysteries and couldn’t help himself. He had to hit the old I-70 as a reply to his video.

    That last story... Wow.
There's 100% a scientific explanation for it, even if we don't understand it yet.
    But we've seen it before.
I, personally, think iy had something to do with; the speed at which she froze, and the normal/high oxygen content in her blood. Most cases like this, are often mountain climbers (like on Everest) that are in high, low oxygen environments. It's likely she would have been heavily exerting herself, and respirating heavily, making sure she had a slightly higher oxygen level when she began freezing. That, and the slow speed at which they warmed her wound up being PERFECT for restoring function.
I think a LOT of factors had to line up just perfectly for the results to turn out the way that they did. Really incredible.

The doors were open and in the seat next to the driver was the corpse of a young woman dressed for party night. It was frigging rush hour and this wreck was probably spotted hours ago and yet hundreds if not thousands were driving past it! Apparently, it took half a day for someone to appear and call the police! Don't forget that the driver apparently ran off! Plus, to really hammer it home: there were a dozen shrines on that road morning past casualties of that road, which in itself is frigging ridiculous, but her place didn't get any flowers, candles, teddies, or photos. What's frightening about the frozen woman is that those unfortunate enough to freeze to death may not have died as soon as I or we had thought they might have.
    That's unsettling.
The positive though, she didn't really remember it, because if she did... that's some Tales from the Crypt type stuff.

I watched Unsolved as a kid, and to this day the theme song STILL sends shivers. I wasn't able to watch it at night back then, and I can't do it now. Although I WAS introduced to Anthonette Cayadito's case. Haunted me for YEARS.

As a Minnesotan, Jean's story (aka the Frozen Girl), is actually used as a cautionary tale to make sure you have a snow emergency pack in your car and to be properly clothed even when driving! I actually learned about her in my driver's ed class that way

Fuck yes. I love this idea for a video. Do more. Always interested to see how and if the show's various cases were solved

I think when Vicky survived the first shot, and his gun jammed, his crazy ass (already seen in a "trance like state") saw it as a sign that it was time to stop. Someone was protected from him and he saw it, that's why he laughed and left the store, leaving her alive. I'd bet anything.

Somehow I have a feeling that Lazy is probably allergic to Scent Bird 😂 That last squirt looks like he was about to choke! You’re not supposed to spray a huge stream and then immediately sniff! You put it on, let it dry, and then take a blow dryer to it to heat the bite out of it, and tone the level down a bit.

I remember all of these episodes, Robert Stacks voice was so fitting for unsolved mysteries. The 90s were a great time to grow up..

I work in an ER in Canada. We had a male come in who had been on his back porch, smoking Crack or meth. Passed out and fell back into the snow.
He was found several hours later, half frozen, barely alive.
We do have the rule that you cannot declare someone dead until they are normal body temp, so we spent 6 hours doing CPR, ambulance attendants, firemen and police officers were all standing in line with us to do CPR. When the doctor could He incubated the guy, and he was able to hold his own once warm. First thing in the morning, like 7am he sat up, looked around, pulled out his tube and left the ER. It was insanity!
We have had other overdoses do this, but never a popsicle overdose!
He had no deficits and did well. Until the drugs finally took him from earth three years after that night. I'm shocked that wasn't his rock bottom and got himself clean. But sadly it wasn't!
The one good thing is the Firemen of the city donated a LUCUS to us. So now we have a machine that can do CPR for hours, if ever needed again!!

    I remember being around 8yo+
We'⁶ I began😢 religiously watching with my brother and parents. The deal was we eat all of our supper, get a quick bath⁴ them we'd be allowed to sit close to the tv and get spooked for 30min.
I still remember unsolved Mysteries theme song... whenever i hear that or hear the host, Robert Stack, narrate that like none other.
Fun times, indeed.... somedays i yearn to ho back before my dad passed from lung cancer about 2yrs later.

This show always scared the hell out of me as a child in the early 90s . Man oh man this show had some terrifying stuff on it lol and you could definitely make more than 1 video of these segments . Unsolved mysteries had probably 100 of this videos worth of material for you to use

for the mystery about the car crash, why couldn’t deborah’s guess about the ‘dead woman’ being a trap be the truth? it’s not common but it’s possible and it’s literally what the person who saw the ‘dead woman’ herself guessed

I remember hearing the 2nd story in one of Mr. Ballen's video before. IIrc, the Debra actually woke up that night and had an extreme urge to leave the house. She kept pestering her husband that she just feels like she needs to go somewhere. Then, while they're on the road, they ended up seeing that "woman" on the side of the road.
