Craig this is an amazing video! I love your energy and prep. A number of great additions...The big die is a great idea! Thanks for plugging the community content option as well. That's super important to me. "Such a wild story!" Great quote I'll be taking with me and "Giving me permission to have a good time" I'll also take away. Man you are a quote machine :-) Thank you.
Hi Toby, thank you so much! I am so bummed I didn't get around to doing this while the 2D6 Realm crowdfunding campaign was running as I had intended, but late pledges are open! The "permission" thing was a big moment for me when reading the rule book, I wanted to make sure I mentioned it. Now that I had a chance to get some time with the game I'm going back over the rules and clearing up any lingering questions I may have had (turns out playing a bit helps internalize rules, who knew?).
No problem Craig, the coverage you're doing now is fab. I'm very impressed with your production by the way. Oh and I hope that email came through! Cheers, Toby]@@CeePhour
Yes sir it did! Thank you so much! Having the bookmarked PDF is a massive improvement for me. I think I know how I have the no-bookmarks version (I explained in the email, hopefully clearly). @TobyLancaster_DR_Games
I love your videos! You explain things so well it's both entertaining and educational. I finally beat my forst game of final girl after watching your videos. I already had this games PDF for the entry to try but was a bit intimated by it but after having watched you I am ready to give it a try.
Great video, you had me sold on buying this by 17 minutes in. Very well explained and I ended up watching the whole video. I'm with you wishing they had spiral bound available on the website. Can't wait to get my copies in the mail.
I have heard of people taking their softcover versions in to Kinkos or OfficeDepot and they can cut the binding off and put a spiral it. I am really tempted to try this with the Tables Codex.
@2:25:30, You said remember the 75%, but couldn't find it. You were on the page! Getting fatigued fighting all day? Don't blame you, you had a lot of adventure is two and a half hours. Great video, will definitely watch the next one.
Thanks for the video. Alerted me to something to check out, and saw a review comparing it favourably to 4AD and D100 Dungeon. Saw the pdf and decided I had to get this one.
Five days ago I found my 3DS XL in the closet. I have 100%'d 1, 2, and 4 (I didn't play 3) but forgot I had bought 5 and Nexus! So I fired up 5 with a fresh save and am currently on the 4th floor in the first stratum and having the greatest time 😁
Great video! I playtested this game and we also carry all the editions plus the new realms etc coming asap in the USA, so for US buyers we will have all the products!
Great run through, just went all in. Sleeve the cards. Even penny sleeves work as no shuffle. Always take the empty pouches. I have Chessex mats that are 20+ years old.
I completely didn't even think about the pouch I was search was something I COULD TAKE. I was wondering how I could get more - buying them in town or whatever. This should be called out in the rule book! :) The Chessex mats are great! I don't care for the new ones (hex OR squares, and dark colors). Maybe I'm missing something about them.
Excellent! I'm a big fan of DR Games (RadZone as well as 2D6 Dungeons) , and this is one of the clearest and easy to watch 2D6 Dungeon TH-cam videos that I've seen and even though I'm an experienced DR Games player I enjoyed it very much. 1 new subscriber earned 👍(P.S. You should REALLY try RadZone if you haven't already)
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the feedback on the look. I spend way too much time thinking about how to make everything visible 😁 I haven't played Rad Zone Totality but it does look really fun. I'll add it to the ever growing list 😅
~6:13 Hopefully that's not Mini Rogue or expansions that you're missing. ~2:37:00 Your intuition is correct. After discovering 75% of the dungeon, you can start thinking going down.
If you played APBA games, you'll be used to having a red leading die when rolling 2d6. I love it! Also, I remember the old DM screen for AD&D. With all these charts creating a screen to easily access the most used charts would be a great thing!
I do have a 4-panel screen that would be great for me playing off camera. Thanks for the suggestion! Anything to keep from flipping back to the beginning for the common charts. The levels charts are all in a group (2 levels per group) so it would be convenient to stay in that section.
Just purchased from Drivethru… I was under the impression that this was an introductory/ simple roll-and-write but it’s actually quite complex! It really caught my interest!
The door die is 0, 1, 2, 3 EXITS, (not entrances:) ). Also, you can't have 0 if you walked into the room. You can only have one exit on each wall, and not the same wall from your entrance, so it's either a dead end, one/two/three (all walls if possible) exists.
just found you really enjoyed watching you play. there are a couple of points to hopefully help your game play. when you are looking at a table for example 2:26:08 roll to see who is in the room L1W -1 it is not minus 1 it is level one so your roll of 6 should have been the labourer, jailor and guard you fought. I noticed you did this with a few things including where you would have gotten rewards that were of higher value. it is an unfortunate choice by the printers. As it appears sometimes it is plus/minus one and other times it dash level one and the second point the interrupt on the card would make more sense if "barge on Secondary 2's -2 damage" for example would be not what your skills are but what you actually roll each time otherwise as you mentioned a few times if working from the skill not the roll certain monsters would never have a chance to defend or dodge you. it would also work on your jerkin on a second roll of 4 when they attack you... meaning that your armour also is able to be used against anyone not just those that have a 4 for their moves. The other thing and not sure if this makes sense or not but the shift you rolled a 5 6 for one of the monsters surely with a shift 1 you could have moved it to a 66 ... not sure if that is allowed. But if the way you are playing is enjoyable, and it was to watch, then do not change. But the changes would make, i think the game play a little more dynamic and risk orentated.
What kind of marker do you use on your Chessex mat? I got wet-erase markers for overhead projectors, recommended in the instructions, and unless you wipe it off immediately they do not come out. Great video. This looks really fun.
Expo and Stadetler wet erase seem to work fine. Not sure I've left them on for more than a few hours before rinsing them off. Just to make sure this is clear to anyone reading: the board in this video is a dry erase board (from the D&D Terrain kit), I use the Chessex mat in my D100 Dungeon videos.
etrian odyssey! played these on Nintendo DS kinda threw me back to eye of the beholder pc game days.. so hard never completed an odyssey game..looks fun
Exactly! They were a wonderful fresh vision of that style of dungeon crawler, and best of all - portable! I managed to 100% Etrian 1, 2, and 4, but I never really played 3, 5, or Nexus. I recently unearthed my 3DS from the depths of my closet and started playing 5 and having an absolute blast.
my GOD I can't keep up... your energy and games selection is daunting :). I haven't had a chance to watch yet, it's almost 1 AM and i have to go to bed, but wanted to pop in to say hi :) Also to ask - would you suggest Warp's Edge over Under Falling Skies, or vice versa? I want to expand my games collection and I need to lose weight, so I can afford skipping meals to get some good games. Have had to edit this like 400 times because of my ADHD and being tired :)
I'm glad to know I'm not alone in spending too much time on my comments :) I always type too much and it takes like 45 minutes longer than it should due to my obsessive edits and corrections. I don't think I can definitively answer, but I can certain share some of my thoughts, right or wrong, on both. The good news is that both are less expensive than your average game. Neither are "table hogs", however UFS has a long skinny board when assembled "correctly", so it can be a bit awkward, but the board is assembled from multiple pieces, so you can arrange it however you need. You also need space to roll dice. I have very limited experience with UFS - I have only ever played "level 0" a bunch of times, but I LOVE it. The setup time is two minutes, and the game takes a lot of thought and tough decision making to win. I adore tough decisions and "stakes" in my games. And UFS delivers "stakes" in that when you place a white die (two are white, three are grey) you have to reroll the remainder of your dice pool. If you like all of the numbers you have you have to plan out what order to place them in to have the least amount of re-rolling. There is a campaign mode in the box, I've never looked at it, but it looks fairly straightforward (instead of the Roswell base you have different bases, so your action spaces are laid out differently). There are different sections for the board, so that changes up as well, but ultimately, the dice decide the flow of the game. I can imagine how it would feel like solving the same puzzle at a different angle every time. Like most deck builders Warp's Edge feels like there is "a clear best move to make" every time you pull your hand of tokens - and priority is not getting yourself shot (you die, you lose), unless you can take down a section of the Mothership (you blow up the Mothership, you win). The puzzle of the game is sorting out where to spend your tokens to accomplish those two things. There is always "best token placement" which is great fun to try and figure out (another game that gives me that feel, Mage Knight, comes to mind). It has added twist of using your power cards to spice things up, enemy ships are random, your ships are all different, and each Mothership has their own twist. My gut feeling is that it offers a lot more variety and replayability than UFS. And after 38 minutes of talking myself through my thoughts as I typed this (over and over and over) it appears I have talked myself into perhaps Warp's Edge would be the better choice. :) Also, the "Anomaly" expansion for Warp's Edge adds incredible value. I don't have "The Viren Invasion" expansion, so I have no idea about that one. edit: 14 hours later... Ok, so I posted the UFS level 0 intro video and the comments there make it very clear that playing through the UFS campaign is very much worth playing and it opens up the game a ton more by unlocked all kinds of other boards (and more?) - so apparently "there is more research to be done!" :)
So just tried to start this last night and have to admit was fun but extremely frustrating because I didn't print out any Tables on where the tables could be found. That was 100% the worst part.
