TL:DR They are found in the Golden chests, Golden chests are often found in the mines in Dunley Mines, also DLC has a cloak. Headgear is also bought with silver coins from Wandering Merchants that you need human form to not get attacked by. takes several hundred coins per hat.
I always take out everything from a chest even if only to drop it. Reason: As far as I've seen chests don't despawn/respawn if it's contents stay inside, only when you empty them out. I also am pretty certain that golden and normal chests share spawn locations so if there is no golden chest but you empty out every normal one the next respawn might have a golden one in it's place.
They do despawn with content inside, all chests are on a certain timer before they despawn and respawn Emptying the chest will just skip the timer and makes it despawns sooner If you're unlucky like a friend of mine, a Golden Chest can despawns right before your eyes while opened, my friend tragically lost an Ashfiend Tail cape this way
You should see the Ashfolk Royal cape. It’s the third tier cloak of the Ashfolk type. Looks fantastic, has a red inner lining with a dark outer lining and the fur trim.

At what point or by killing which boss gives you the recipe for the phantom cape? I own the DLC but only have the 1st immortal cape not the really cool one you can choose to craft instead of the higher level phantom one.
Im a huge cosmetic enjoyer, so i'll let you in on some things i've noticed. Firstly and most obviously, hats and capes only spawn in the respective regions, so the mid tier capes will only spawn in the farmlands, for the best ones you'll have to brave silverlight. Same with the hats, miltia and knights helm both spawn in dunley but the ashfolk crown i've seen spawn in silverlight chests. If you want a hat that certain AI wear then you'll need to look in that area, fishing is a pretty decent way to get hats and if not you get fish which are also useful.
Once I found 2 golden chests outside the iron mine, one was inside one of those white tents and the other one was actually behind it. Only found them because I ran into the tent to run from a boss.
just looted a Tail of the Archfiend cape at the silverlight hills (Brighthaven Cathedral) got it out of a gold chest it's black with a spine + ribcage painted on it
I have one called the Chaos Stitched Drape. I am not sure but I think the colors go with the color scheme you pick during character creation. It is in different colors of pink patches.
I also have gotten banshees veil which is a low tier cloak I found in the farbane forgotten cemetery. Looks like a small ghostly robe made from the clothes banshees wear. Pretty cool
thers a cloak like "ashfolk crystal ice cloak" that has a black fur top with a red bottom its sooooooo dope I dont know the name as I have not found it yet but I'm on the hunt. from the options you have demonstrated here I would have to say my fav is the thousand stitch cloak for sure

They work same as the nodes (stone copper etc) can come back as different.

There is also the Toki Feather Cape wich i got out of a gold chest in Dunley farm lands. Its the cape the Fae Walker wears.

@@Spooky-Clown It could be found from the golden chest at azariel where i found it after killing him basically royal mantle of ashfolk kings

If I check my tailoring bench I don’t see the immortals king cloak and I have the dlc + I’m gear lvl 79 and can make phantoms veil?
What am I missing?

There is a Jesters cloak as well. I got it in the big city in the 60's area. However, I really do like that DLC cloak

Found a green feather cape in the mine before watching this, it is true.
Also found most of my head gear fishing.
I found a Boneguard Mask in starter forgotten cemetery. Also a cloak and helm in Iron mine.
i think build videos are good to watch, i also think you could mayve do videos on base layouts for efficiency or something

Manna Shawl is a blue two-tail cape that can be found in Dunley with mid tier stats.
Archfiend is the best looking cape and the hardest one to get it, farmed in the city a lot for it.

I got this one last week and replaced my Immortal King cloak cause it looks so amazing.
There is also Purple Feather Cloak, and Beatrices Cloak.
