- A side by side comparson on the Canon EOS M50 vs Canon G7X Mark ll. Both cameras are set to fully automatic as well as running at 1080p HD. The Canon M50 is using its kit lens (EF-M15-45mm Lens). I compare the video as well as the on board audio.

M50 is better because you can always upgrade with the lens.

M50 looks more real but the Mark 2 colors are more vibrant to me. Sound I couldn't really tell a difference, doesn't help that I had a noisy background either. 😒😊
Google User m50 shoots 4K and has better specs all around. G7x is overpriced

Both great cameras. I couldn't tell much difference in sound quality. The M50 seemed to have better color but the G7 seemed to transition a little quicker. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this video! I was completely stuck between these two cameras and this helped me decide on the G7X. M50 sound is wayyyy better but I'm going to be using it mainly for photography and won't be recording on it much. Thanks again! :)

The M50 sound is nice. About the zoom this camera make killer Brolls with a 85mm f1.8 on it. Nice comparison.🙋🏼♂️

G7 x ... I liked the color and the stabilization. The M50 had more background noise .... the wind was way louder.

Yes if have money to change lens. I have many youtuber friends that use the M50 and prefer the m50 over many of their other cameras too.

G7xii better stabilization and low light and it is less intrusive when vlogging in public. I have a6500 and 77d systems, these can still get huge with the lenses

Very close call! I like the M50 for slightly better image quality and sharpness although the G7x mark 2 is very very close and seems to be a little brighter in darker light. Sound is better on the M50 and you have the option of the external mic input, so M50 for sound. G7x is the more portable of the two so I'd say M50 for more studio and occasional vlog style and G7x for on the move vlog style videos 👍
I could not have said it better. I thought I was the only one that thought the onboard mic on m50 was better as you can see in the comments majority chose better audio for g7x.
@@ILuvTrading The G7X shows richer tones and less wash-out than the M50. I film plants, ground covers, and earth materials; I think the G7X wins out on those qualities at the settings he had on the cameras. My question is; could he have made changes to the settings to match the G7X !
So there is no way to use a external mic on the G7x mark2? Crap. Im starting a channel, which will mainly be me talking in storytime like format. A popular TH-camr just recommended the G7x mark2 (though he called it the Mach2 in his DM but that doesn't seem to exist so I'm assuming he means this) I just need a camera that looks high quality when I'm sitting in front of it talking

Overall, I liked g7X more, but during the autofocus test M50 performed better. Wow, it’s challenging to find the vlogging camera! Especially cause in 2020 I feel like there should be something new.

Comes down to preference but most people will choose m50 same as I.
I ordered the G7X because im new and it gave me what I need but after watching reviews I may return it for the m50. They're both at the same price right now and I want more versatility even though I am new I'll get better later. I don't want to have to spend another $500 on a new camera just because one of them isn't really upgradable now.

I'm gonna ramble:
People's reactions are amazing! First of all we're watching TH-cam online-on my browser 240P auto setting which is crap resolution to start with. That said both cameras have a Canon Digic processor-the M50 a later version-so to think that G7x has better image quality from an older processor and smaller sensor is to say Canon blew it big time. You can see the G7x struggle in quick changes lighting conditions with white balance blowing out from time to time, with M50 having less issues. The M50 auto focus is way crisper and faster overall. The zoom comparison is irrelevant because M50 has option of changing to entire family of Canon lenses.That said, I'm amazed at how good the G7x is-it's a point and shoot for God's sake and can be had for half the price of M50! So it depends on what you want to do. The M50 has a mike input and will sit a Rode Pro video mike on top with touch screen off to side-so ultimately the sound should be no contest. For me personally, I hate weight. I've been shooting with a Canon S90 (stills) for years and love it. I've balked at G7x because it's too big for my shirt pocket-No question it's better than S90, but you step up to G7x, it's not that far to the M50 which gets you DSLR flexibility in a tiny package. I've recently been playing with a Sony Nex 6 (pre A6000 series). Pretty close in size to M50. I'm finding I just don't like Sony color, so when I found the M50 I was psyched! This camera just feels good, images are Canon images. The biggest negative for me about the Canon M is the native lense choices are very limited-way more than Sony-where I have a wide angle pancake with a fish-eye on top and can shoot fisheye street photos in an ultra light weight package.
So, OK back to the choice: if you don't want a mirrorless format with interchangeable lenses, and don't mind the G7 flip screen and no mike jack get the G7x- smaller lighter cheaper and very good. But as a one, do everything camera at an entry level price, the M50 is a marvel. Now if Canon would make M lenses like they meant it... hint, hint.

As far as the color and stabilisation are concerned both cameras are on a par with each other. In my opinion the only thing that lets the M50 down is the lack of zoom but it is a lot smoother operating that function than the G7X...sounds like your operating a winch zooming in and out on that camera. 👍🇬🇧
The thing is w the m50 you can get diff lens. With the g7x your stuck w one lens.

The audio on the M50 is better. The G7X had more vibrant colors. They both have their pros and cons. I have the G7X Mark II but would like to try the M50.
Only reason if go with the m50 is that I can get an adapter to utilize my ef lenses. I like all features the m50 offers too.
The m50 also has mic jack if u wanted to add external mic which U cannot do w g7x. And one more thing... you can attach other lenses to m50 and g7x u are stuck w what u got. However the g7x is much smaller and can fit in pocket too.

I’m torn between these two as a beginner vlogger. Been to bestbuy to several days now but i couldn’t make my decision. I live in AK and pretty much dark majority of the year. Ahhhhh. 🤦🏻♀️
G7x is smaller more portable easier on the go... the m50 has external mic jack if u want to add mic but built in mic still better then g7x, m50 u can add diff lenses too. My opinion go with the easier more subtle option but some of my friends will say otherwise. Don’t forget lenses are not cheap either.

Personally I’d go for the m50... you also have a mic jack for external eventough I thought the built in was still better then the gx7. Also both these cameras for sure has better built in mic then my canon 750d. W the M50 you get diff lenses too. The g7x your are stuck with one but I must say it’s smaller and easier to carry. Overall yes go for me m50

From 4:22 you can tell that everything is better in m50. You can hear the sound from m50 better and also if you see the shirts and the hat, mark ii has some weird light. If you have 100 $ budget, you better pick m50

M50 for the win and practical .
The Canon M50 has a little bit more dynamic range, having a larger sensor and all. However, if you were to install a flat picture profile on the M50, like the free Technicolor Cinestyle, you would see a much improved dynamic range. Even if you change the contrast/sharpness/saturation settings on the G7X, it won't match the dynamic range of a flat profile on an EOS camera. And given the kinds of shots you shot on this video, you desperately needed the additional dynamic range, plus a variable ND filter.
I find the Mark 2 better than M50 in video quality, nice comparison bro!!

I think the m50 overall is better. Picture and sound plus the added options. The only drawback would be not as much zoom. The g7x is noisy when zooming but zooms farther.
M50 is much better . The audio, with mic input but the zoom in is not that far compare to g7x. LoL . Thats the big difference. Im using canon vixia for vlog as my alternate camera otherwise I used my samsung galaxy s8 .lol. nice comparison . I'd go with m50

I think the G7X is better in color quality, it's sad that it doesn't have a mic input, if it did I would say it's better for the price. I think with a good setup the m50 would look a lot nicer than the G7X, but in automatic settings the G7X definitely wins

..there are x better lenses for the M50!!! It is impossible to compare the cameras in this way, because it is always about the lens. The Eos M50 is at least as good, you just need different lenses!

I actually already have! Currently I film on my iPhone X, but I want to upgrade to the m50. For now I’m just gunna add a mic to my iPhone bc it’s still fine for now and ofc much more budget friendly!
