After the retirement of the Keokuk Junction Fs, there was only one railroad left in North America regularly using the timeless streamliners in freight service. That title belongs to the Ontario Southland Railway!
On November 29th, I woke up very early and headed over to Ontario. Upon arrival at the Salford shop, the job bound for the CAMI plant left, followed by two ex-CP geeps for Putnam and beyond, and finally two F-units making pickups before heading to the CP interchange at Woodstock. It was out of this world.

There's the Wisconsin Great Northern out of Spooner, Wisconsin that now hauls freight! They have the ex Grand Traverse Dinner Train F-units and Great Northern F7A #423! They haul freight with F-units!

Check out their sister unit # 6520 on the Rapido trains site. She was recently restored in the CN wet noodle scheme. Absolutely beautiful!

To me, the F units are like John Brownings 1911 pistols, old, but always classic. 👍

they are great people that own and operate the shop and railroad. I did a promotional video for the models that came out of a couple of their high nose geeps. it was very cool to do. go to go right in the back part of the yard. hands on the trains and rails. hope you can have a look. and I believe there are still some of the models still for sale. They are talking about doing a model of the F units soon

As an N scaler, I’m probably out of luck. I’d love to see models of the Fs though! Seems like a really cool railroad.

If you wanna see heaps of streamliners still in use go to Australia, a lot are still pulling freight trains on the mainlines and the last streamliner on a regular passenger train was only a few years ago as well many are used on heritage specials

Minus the Guelph line which is now operated by someone else, the entire railroad still exists, runs, and they just painted a switcher into their paint scheme.

I don’t think that’s correct. They’ve lost the contract for the Guelph Junction Railway, but nothing in this video was effected, and I don’t think it’s been a critical financial hit for them.
