I love your content so much. Most of biking on YT is some version of selling something. Your content however is just about the simple joy of bicycles 😊
Thank you so much! Yeah, I’m just trying to share whatever is going on in my bike life at the moment :) however, lots of brands have started reaching out to me and asking if I want free stuff in exchange for making a video. I have never replied to them, but today I was offered a whole freaking e-bike conversion set including 2 wheels! Thats a thing I would genuinely see myself wanting to install on a frame I have. I don’t know tho, it would technically be an advertisement video and I don’t want to fall into that rabbit hole.
All the moving parts should get some grease. The wheel hubs, the seat post, the handlebar stem, the bottom bracket, etc. Though, since this thing has a gear hub in the rear, disassembling it to change the grease is a bit of a pain, but those hubs are really great, so making sure they're in good condition can only do good.
You’re right, but I’m not going the extra mile here exactly. I’ll put some grease on the new stem if I can get it replaced, but that’s about it at the moment :)
@@addvurtbikes Oh, it would be effective but the only people who could do a fuill bike this way probably have access to used motoroil or something The other thing I do with pocketnives is soak rags in oil, wrap the knives in them, and ziplock them up that way for a few weeks, checking every few days to see if the oil has worked in and loosened things up... dissolved and moved rust etc... I don't know if trash bags and oils cloth could be used that way for a bike though
I really like that chain-guard. Polished it will be quite striking. But, first things first. Get it rolling. Hey! Don't forget to put some light oil in the rear hub.
Did you hammer the wedge down before removing the long bolt from the stem? That's the only thing keeping the stem from moving, that and rust. Once you hammer the wedge down you can hold the front wheel between your legs and try turning the handlebars to break the stem free.
@addvurtbikes No worries! If you search up quill stems, you'll see what I mean and it will make sense. Wish you all the best, can't wait to see it fixed up!
Loosening the headset lock nut is not required to remove the quill stem. Loosening the wedge inside the shaft of the fork is the way to go, maybe some penetrating oil helps too
Thanks! Yeah, if I can reach an acceptable level of repairs, I will clean up the bike more and give it some more love, but we will see how it goes with the stem...
I think it was at first, but they are standing next to each other, they talked it out, and now it seems like the swamp bike might even be unfixable :( so the garbage bike went from jealous to empathic :)
@@addvurtbikes it doesn't matter, you didn't steal it ( maybe there is no owner anymore and it was just dumped ). Funny fact, I pulled a bike out of a lake back in the 90s and rode it for years. Pre-war bike without gears 🙂
wow, that's crazy! I actually made a post in a local Facebook group to see if I could find the owner, but nobody wrote and asked for the correct color. I did what I could :)

Put the entire bike in a bathtub of oil for a week or two. I do a smaller version of this for rust-welded pocketknives lol
That sounds like it could be effective, but not really realistic.

I had some good progress today! The bike is ridable now :)
Yes sir! Looking forward to the next installment
Thanks! But don't get your hopes up too much, it might be a dark middle chapter coming up :S
A little bit of grease on the post and the stem would do no harm…. 😊
True, true. If I can get the old stem off the bike, I promise to grease the new one!
Make swamp bike great again! And just writing for the algorithm 🎉
I’ll do my best! Thank you very much!

I did not. I’ll see if I can make that happen! Thanks!

I'd try soaking every stuck part in penetrating oil (e.g., Marvel Mystery Oil, PB Blaster) before trying to remove them.
yeah, I might have to do something like that
@@addvurtbikes Hope it helps! Good luck!!
reminds me when i unearthed a bike out of the woods, amazing video:)
Thank you! Wow, that sounds cool. Could you ride that bike?
@ yea until the frame snapped in half lmao
what a mechanic right there
hehe thank you, I just try stuff until it works (or doesn't)
Awesome find
Yeah, Im happy with it! Just gotta sort out the handlebar situation!
Fun project, and great salvage! I hope you greased the seatpost and stem that you replaced!?
Thanks! No grease at all on this day. And no stem replaced yet, it might be hopeless to get it off :(
Great video bicycle pewdiepie🚲
Thanks! I’ll tell Felix you said hi :)
I really enjoy your videos, long may you continue making them. I have one word of advice for this bike: WD40 😉.
Cheers👍🏼

You should dub it the shrek bike 😂
Heck yeah! :D
shrek approves
Is the garbage bike jealous? 😅

@ 😂
Someone stole it and threw it in there, you pulled it out and then sold it... I wonder how the law sees that 🙂
I’m not going to sell it
