The lighter lower horsepower cars have a very big advantage in the braking zones. This is what allows them to overtake cars with more power in the curves.
@@d1gw33d It also has to do with the skill level of the driver. At a lot of tracking events there are people who show up in cars who don't have the skill to drive the car to its potential. I've seen it first hand.
Its funny how people are getting butthurt about how fast a brz can be, making excuses for the other cars. *TLDR: A vehicle's lap times will heavily depend on the track size and layout.* Its simple, speed around a track highly depends on the weight of the vehicle and the size/angle of the track and corners. On a small track with tight angle turns, a light car with low power like a brz or miata will dominate. On a larger track with some nice straights like sebring or laguna seca, a miata or brz would have a real tough time keeping up with something heavier and more powerful like a z06 or 911 turbo.
I saw basically this exact thing happen at some track I was at with my Celica, there was this one BRZ driver who just SMOKED everyone simply because he was so much better at corners, he even drifted a few of them just to show off. I pray I can meet that guy in the future
I like how you drive, we drive similar, cautious but fast as possible without pushing it too far, I mean that’s what racing is, but I have had my fare share if bad drivers and also just destroying faster cars, I drive an 86 Corolla
Love driving a car that can handle, nice video. I may (still a little trigger shy) be getting an 86 this year. Been making the payments to myself to start saving.
"Fast is smooth, and smooth is _fast._ " Nice driving, especially (IMO) not feeling the need to high-rev the thing constantly, like so many seem to do. Instead, you pick the gear you'd want to be right at the exit, and let the tires and the lower rpm carry you through the angles at a higher rate of speed. Dials you right into the bleeding traction edge, rather than just stomping on the throttle, which can be done any ol' time. This layout is tougher with a lower hp rig. Both corners onto the straights are kinda slow and don’t allow a lot of drive. The big sweepers off the front straight are really fun tho. This used to be the Formula USA course back in the day.
