Great information. I'm not sure what DRIFT is thinking with this design. Not only is the socket on the camera proprietary (it's threaded and any standard TRS or TRRS connector will not fit, but it uses TRRS to TRS adapter. Why not just support TRS or TRRS and make a standard cable natively fit? They can use a rubber seal to maintain water proofing if they are concerned.
Hi. Just discovered your very helpful vid. I also have Ghost XL which I use mainly in Dash Cam mode. (max 5 min segments) I bought Drift's own external microphone which has the TRRS end and plugs into the short adaptor which screws into the camera. Sound is great if I want to comment on the ride apart from the quite frequent ear splitting crackles! I thought it was wind noise at first, but I keep the mic shielded, so I am slightly stumped. It's a shame because the camera is pretty good as a dash cam. Battery life is amazing. Needs Image stabiliser to be truly great. Not sure about it been 100% waterproof around the little hatch for USB card though. Not intending to go swimming with it! The phone app has awful reviews and so I just use the screen on back and trial and error for positioning. Cheers.
Great vid, I have just ordered the same camera but the Snow version, and I’ve ordered the Mosotech, can you tell me if the sticky pads are strong enough to fit on a flip- up helmet?? Again thanks for a great and informative video 👍👍👍👍👍
Really interesting because I am currently deciding which is the best camera for me to get for my helmet and then maybe a cheaper older one for the h/bars this one looks good and simple which is the most important to me so thanks all this info helps . : )
With your microphone set up does it "one press auto start" work? Mine distorts when using this feature. But if I turn on camera and then press record button it's fine.
Sorry no they're not available to buy separately. My adapter has broken and drift has told me I can't buy them and now they have brought out the XL Pro with 5he same adapter. I've basically had a go at them as for me without the adapter I can't record sound and the camera is now useless for my needs.
@@Mean-bj8wp Hi Mean1974, I had the same issue with the adapter breaking so asked them how I return the whole camera under warranty. They did manage to find a replacement adapter for me funnily enough!

Really appreciate you going through this as I have been screwing trying to get the sound right. I'll try this with a new mic\adapter

Did exactly what you said and it works fine thanks for the information 👍

Actually drift’s propriety microphone sold on their website has a 2 pole jack!
Yes it does and it is pricey and the cable is really long making difficult to hide inside a helmet. The mic I use cost £6 and does the job just fine.
Thanks, bud. Just ordered the same one
Have you had any issues with waterproofing the connectors where they are sat under the rim of your helmet
T - Tip
R - Ring
2 X Ring = TRRS
3 X Ring = TRRRS
Quite easy really
Hi, don't suppose you have the link for the adapter do you? I've been searching for one for days now and I can't find any that's suitable.

Is it a TRRS? lol Good vid thanks
Why explain something in 60 seconds when you can spread it over 25 boring minutes of out of focus footage
It would much more helpful if you would GET TO THE POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
