    Nice review, thanks! Possibly a dumb question - does it record in stereo via the minijack if a suitable stereo microphone is connected?

    Brilliant honest review at last. I've had loads of problems with my Drift Ghost X to the point where it has failed to accept a charge. Micro SD Port knackered for the second time. First time, Drift replaced it under warranty. Now 4 months out of Warranty, they're not interested. I've found their after sales to be at best, pathetic. It cost £37 to send the unit back to Eastern Europe and the replacement came from Jordan. No UK support accept technical aftercare.

      Hello pal, yeah its a shame because the Drift Ghost design is really cool and image quality is pretty good too. Hopefully things will improve. I hope to throw an update video up in the next couple of months. Thanks for watching 👍

      If it won't charge try to press the reset button (hole) and then try to charge it again. It happened to me once (with a 4K+ I think) and after the reset it charged fine.

    • @rottieman347
      @rottieman347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotoSnax Thanks, I've tried all that. It's the mini usb socket that's knackered. Same fault as before. All the resets in the world won't fix that but thanks anyway

    Second question - does replacing the audio cable mitigate the issue? As in, is it just a poor quality cable, or it something more sinister in the camera electronics affecting the sound?

    Hi there. Do you know if DRIFT has taken care of the sound issue already? About to pull the trigger in one Ghost XL, would loke to know if it's fixed. Thanks, mate.

    Very good video on the pros and cons. Thank you very much. Yes the sound problems is a big problem. I found many You Tubes saying it has to do with the extension cable that is in the box. It needs to have 2 black ring (TRS) not three black rings (TRRS), (contact drift if under warranty). I am in the process of researching helmet cameras, I like the ghost because of it size and capabilities. I plan on buying a drift external boom microphone. I do not want a box attached to my helmet and getting extra wind buffeting.
    Does any one know if I can have 2 blue tooth devices on one helmet, a camera and a communications device both with microphones?

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah I know one of my adapters has three black rings, i'lll check the other one later today. Very weird that they ship the one with the known fault ! Thanks for the input and thanks for watching.😃

    It seems that the issue is with the cable and it seems that it has been sorted out with new connector. Sorry mate but you inserted the mount the other way around.

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I've put two cards on the Amazon page, I have used both of these successfully in the Drift camera. (I have also used bigger 512gb cards, which have been unreliable). Thanks for watching.

    Hi, I enjoy your video’s many thanks….just a couple of questions…like you I have bought two XLs do you have to turn both cameras on first in clone mode then use the master camera to control both cameras…..I can set the master camera in clone mode but the slave just keeps on loading am I doing something wrong.

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, sorry for the slow reply. Sadly I cant try clone mode as the screen on my oldest Drift camera has now developed a fault so its hard to accesss all of the functions. Still having sound problems too. Its a shame because I do like the cameras, but might start looking for alternatives now. Thanks for watching.

    I have the next version of this Ghost XL PRO camera and I can't believe but instead of fixing the microphone problem the company still repeats the same problem. I just need to order a new adapter with 2 TRS rings instead of 3? Overall I have no problem with this camera even 512GB card works only the microphone which is external which sometimes works and most of the time does not.

    • @Predatorek9933
      @Predatorek9933 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I played around a bit because I have a lot of equipment at home. You don't even know how trivial this fault turned out to be! The seal that comes with the adapter is simply too thick, when you take it off the microphone will be detected immediately, just sand it down a bit ;) or a better idea, attach the one seal that was in the microphone hole cover to the adapter, it's much thinner

    Great video buddy. Just Ordered myself one. Not really fussed about using a mic as I mainly want it to capture memories from my biking trips and as a dash cam. Is the sound OK just using the internal mic ? Also is it easy to do basic editing like adding music ? Cheers buddy 👍

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice one thanks for watching. The internal mic is ok if you're stationary, but just too much wind noise if you're moving. There's meant to be a basic editing suite in the app but it doesn't work on my phone so just use any basic 3rd party video editing app. On the plus side its a great little camera and sleek on the bike or helmet.👍🏻

      @@RoyalAlloyRider cheers for the reply buddy. I have a 3.5mm mic that came with my old action camera which I have never used. It doesn't look anything fancy though. Do you think that will be OK or do you have to use a drift specific one ? 😉

  • @johnehogan
    @johnehogan 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good vid. Thanks.
    I use the Ghost XL Pro model when out on my Ebike rides. I set my camera to 1080p at 120fps and a 140 degree field of view with the microphone level set to 4. I just use a cheap $10.00 lapel mic which I stick in my shirt pocket and the mic works just fine. It will pick up my wifes voice too (faint but audible) some 20 feet ahead of me when we ride our bikes.
    I generally will turn ON the cameras wifi so I can see what the camera is looking at (so I can make final adjustments) and then turn it OFF as the wifi takes a lot of the battery power on the camera.

    Great video, many thanks. The sound has been a problem with this camera since its inception. Does anyone know why Drift has not addressed the issue. Drift is fully aware of the problem and as Martyn stated, Drift will replace the cable if requested so I'm wondering why Drift doesn't supply a working cable in the first place. Very strange situation.

    You fitted it in the helmet mount backwards lol. The sound problem is the cable for the mic, it's a TRS to TRRS problem you need a replacement. Contact drift they know the fault contact them while it's in warranty they will send a replacement cable.

      had same issues with cable. the cable included in box only works with drifts own microphone. any other microphone needs an adapter. I've been in communication with drift over past few weeks sorting out cable issue. mine wouldn't work at all. replacement cable works but still needs adapter

    • @martynhoward540
      @martynhoward540 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@crazygrandad5540 I'm not using a drift microphone and mine is working fine. What's needed is a TRS connector not a TRRS. When you look at the 3.5mm jack there are distinct rings around it separating the connections. TRS will have 2 rings giving 3 connections and TRRS will have 3 rings giving 4 connections. When you use a TRS connector the little symbol of a microphone lights up between the battery and memory card symbols. I have mine on the lowest microphone sensitively of 1 and have wrapped a bit of cloth around the mic over the foam cover to help stop wind noise. This setup works really well I can talk at a normal volume with very little wind noise but can still hear the bike.
