No problem. It was my first take at a tutorial. Started off making it for a friend who bought this and then realized why not help out follow drift users!
TBH there's nothing 'simple' about setting this camera up. I got it for a motorcycle helmet and a week later I still cannot figure out how to do dashcam - the instructions are so poor. You need to be a rocket scientist to understand the setting up procedure - which is very poorly supported in the accompanying 'handbook'. My advice is - avoid it...
My first unit failed and stopped recording. Had it replaced by my local vendor, now second unit won’t charge or switch on. Have a class 10 memory card, firmware up to date, have tried resetting with a pin, tried with multiple charging cables… Shame, because when they work, they’re great.
Just bought this for £122 best deal I could find. J&S uk priced matched one i found on ebay for sale. Can I as as I can not find any info on what i am about to ask. If I get on my bike and press record how long will it record for as I often ride for 6 or 7 hours.
A decent enough video, except for the period of confusion in the middle, which I would maybe have edited out. It doesn't really show how to select from options within the menus which is what I was looking for.
I have 512 mb cards and never worry about it filling up. I think you can get a full 8 hours with no issues. I use it through a three day weekend with no worries.
I bought the Ghost Xl Pro as a motorcycle helmet camera to record any possible incidents on the road. What do I press to save a particular video clip of interest? I do not have the remote control. With other dash cameras usually there is a dedicated button that you can pres to save or "tag" a videoclip of interest. So it won't be deleted by the loop recording of the camera.
To much for my tiny brain all I wanted was a camera I could switch on to record and anotherto play back this things got more menus and settings than Concord so it going back. Can any one suggest a camera for dummies?
Correction: You don't need to go through the menu to start the Wifi. Just press and hold the rear button in any mode and it will start the rear LED flashing to show the Wifi is on. Also clone mode allows you to have up to 10 groups of cameras with up to 10 cameras for each group which can share the same group settings and be started or stopped by group. Note also that the camera is "splash proof" without the waterproof case (so not suitable for heavy rain or immersion) and the waterproof case is only compatible with the standard battery and not the XL version.
What about setting up the correct date and year? Wi fi you press the rear button on the curve - hold it and once green flashing turns solid the wi fi is captured- then on tablet settings select drift WiFi to pair
No stabilization in my camera. Never been like it’s bad and needed it. I think their new model has stabilization. It’s a decent camera and video. Not the highest quality but if you watch my video. The shots from the truck are most these cameras.
One brand new ones that have never been turned we had to put a lot of effort in to it to turn it. After that it turned with normal effort. But again it was scary how much effort it took at first. Maybe try washing it with some soap and turn it then. These are waterproof if all connections are closed.
15 months old cam.Ghost XL Used 4 times. Gets drenched inside of rain. Manufacturers sticks to their" 12 ,months warrantey" but gives me rebate of 20% for anew purchase. . So I say.. let them keep their crap
Numerous Product descriptions all say: "DVR Mode - use the Ghost XL Pro as a safety camera by recording continuously when plugged into a power supply." So does that mean this model cannot record continuously when not plugged in? I.e. when out for a ride on my bike?? Yikes!
HI, thanks for your video! I just bought a Ghost XL, one thing that's got me a bit baffled; Before first use the manual says to format the SD card, and download the BIN file and copy it to the card. Does this have to be done before inserting the card into the camera, or can it be done through the App? Some cards are pre-formatted with FAT32, is this what the camera requires? Thanks!
I found following this a little hard work I’m afraid… Surely it is easier to go through the settings via the Drift Lite app to configure the device …instead of messing around scrolling on the device itself… which is hard work and extremely fiddly… You then explained about cloning cameras…And immediately afterwards said you weren’t sure what the clone icon was for??? Anyway my question is can’t work out how to pair the remote device via Drift Lite App … Is it possible or does it have to be paired through the device menu Thanks
Let me go thru it and refresh my memory. I don’t use the app other than down loading the pictures, but you can change settings in the app. I did it once and that’s all.
Adding up all the short videos it took instead of one long video. Seems like I only Got about 4 hours worth of video. Plenty of room left on the sd card
I bought this camera week ago and when I put this camera on recording mode and it's stop recording by itself. What is the reason behind it . Let me know if possible thanks
If you aren’t doing this already, try holding the button with the arrow pointing forward until camera turns on, and then waiting half a minute or so until you press that button again to start recording. That fixed my issue.
Never had this problem. Hopefully either it has gone away or the suggestion below works. Maybe try resetting to factory settings…. Good luck keep us posted.
@@callsignalf5722 i have never had this happen. I have three of these cameras. No issues. Try resetting it. In the door that opens for charging and the SIM card there is a small pin point reset. Maybe that? Maybe down load an upgraded
I really don’t know. I have a 128. Gb card and have never been worried about filling it up. I will use it for three days of off-roading taking lots of video and pics. Never been worried about not having enough space. I use the highest quality all the time. It’s a great little camera.

Hi my drift ghost xl sometimes freeze and stop flashing red light. on red light then with out flashing and not recording, then i have to press stop bottom and hold for 30sec to turn off. Anyone have the same problem? Thanks
Thanks for this. I'm thinking of getting one for my cycle helmet. How's the audio from the inbuilt microphone, when recording a video? Any wind distortion?
Yes there is wind distortion, but you can change the sensitivity of the mic. I keep forgetting to do this but i either don’t use that audio or use it as a light back ground noise to the main music. Check out my videos of off-roading. The video that are from the perspective of my bumpers or inside the truck at the rear view mirror are all drifts. I like the XL as the battery lasts up to 8 hours. Mine are about 4 years old and the battery still lasts 5-6 hours
Mine died in heavy rain which is bullshit considering the thing is suppose to be water resistant. Drift wouldn't replace it because water damage is not covered in the warranty. wont but again !
I've given up on this camera , really shoddy app, never records properly and I've had issues retrieving the video once recorded. Not worth the effort and frustration.
I had a Ghost XL Pro and it was truly dreadful. The battery would not hold a charge and despite reaching out to Drift on many occasions, and the fact it was still in warranty, they would not help at all. Their after sales service is non existent and, interestingly, you will not find an address or telephone number for them anywhere on their website!! I would highly recommend not buying one of these cameras but go for something like the DJI Oslo Action 4, a far better all round camera.

Hmm there is sound. I just tested it myself. I had to turn my device sound on to hear it, but there is sound. Try turning on your device sound. I just turnt he volume up one notch and my sound turns on. Other devices i am not sure. I hope you can figure it out.
