I’ve gotta ask , is Tom your partner? Or just your op shop partner? This is none of my business of course but I’m picking up a vibe here ❤. Love the vids , love your self control in not buying just because, we’ll done Mel. I’m going to try and follow your lead when I’m out op shopping 😅
I was thinking the same thing and saw the replies but no answer :( love your videos and wish there were more book you tubers always fun to watch when packing up orders
Another great video Mel! Thank you for always taking us on your adventures 🚙Your choice of background music is perfect. I've decided, everyone needs a Tom 😊He's a great thrifting buddy and a cutie pie. Since watching your interview video with Tech I've been trying to be more choosy with what I pick up. I see you're being more mindful on what you're picking up too, isn't that so hard lol. I want to pick everything. I know that your interview with Tech was so informational for alot of us and alot of us needed to hear those things. Oh my goodness, 21 thrift stores in one day 😳 I would be exhausted lol. I think a thrifting trip like that would be so fun! Ok, I'm off to go list my plethora of sweaters. Gotta get ready for cold season. Thanks for the great videos Mel. It's nice to see other women kicking butt in reselling💪
Was that a skippy dvd . My favourite TV program as a child. To be fair we didn’t have a lot of choice as there were only three channels and we had a black and white TV.
I am with @gaylewallace5860…. I smell romance! AND I like Tom! If I were young and single I would be after that fella! 😂 Love the chemistry either way Mel! Hi TOM!!!
Great to see a new op shop video. Such self control you had. Less work more money. Great to see you having fun whilst working. Looking forward to your next video.
I love that you can make money off of current books in Australia the way you can. Here in the US we have Amazon and other cheap book outlets and its just hard to make a go of it unless you go vintage. Fun trip to watch, thank you!
Congrats 🎉 on 30K subs! 😊 Happy for you and Thom! Keep up the great work 👍! We are liquidating our inventory and planning to move soon, so we want less stuff! Lol Also we want to increase our asp to $40 per item, which means combining similar items! Lotting up low asp items as well! I look forward to your videos 📹! We are everything sellers! Have a great week 👍! Joe Bee 🐝 from 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 Canada! Thom is your man! Lol 😅😊😊😊

I mean, no shade, but the resellers who talk about how much a CHARITY is trying to make instead of resellers is hypocrisy at its highest. You'd sell any of those books/games for higher than the CHARITY is trying to make.
Yes as reseller I have to be able to make profit. As do the charity shops which I fully understand. But the charity shops have a high level of incoming stock and they don’t all understand sell thru rates. Example I went to two charity shops yesterday. One store charges $1 paperback and $2 hardcover. The other prices all books individually $3-$20. Most being average of $4-$5 per book. I spent $4 in the second shop on one book. The other shop I spent $300 in 45mins and came out with bag loads. The charity that gets my $300 is winning as now they have more money to use within their charity. They were excited with my sale as the back room is full of books and they can now restock. Charity shops would make more money if they priced lower and turned over more inventory. They have it in abundance but many stores that price items high have the same stock in there week after week with no one buying it.
Yes. and some people are buying those "high priced" books, or they wouldn't be pricing them like that. If they're smart they also have a volunteer posting their stock on ebay, making their charity money. The charities have access to the same apps you have access to. @@backfromburnout
Next time you come to the US, check out a set of book thrifts in Niantic CT called the Book Barn- thousands of books! Fun to watch you and Tom thrift together- funny to see that Salvation Army is Salvos and St. Vincent de Paul I’d Vinnies.
i find it so hard to resell in Australia so I stopped. People don't even want to buy a mid-designer label dress for $20 that was $200. But I hadn't tried books, if you know what youre looking for looks like it could be profitable.
Belmont - (Lake Mac), I'm 10 minutes away from here. The belmont Salvos and Vinnies are terrible, I've never got anything good from them, we only check them out once every 3 months now. The boloroo salvos ebay price items, avoid, avoid, avoid !! You went to only one of the thrifts we go to as the rest are pretty rubbish, next time you're in town hit us up and we will tell you the good ops to hit which weren't shown in this vid, infact we're heading to one today you didn't venture too that has a sale today only 3 books for $1!!! 5 kids books for $1
Get in that boat! Lol. I've never seen a Thermomix book in the wild to this day! 21 thrift shops in one day, that's heavy going! Thom's always racing off in front Lol 😂 Nice video, thanks!
I sell a lot of thermo books and some sell for higher than others but I’ve never seen this one before. No way I’m getting in that tiny boat! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Ian for being one of my longest ever subscribers and being part of this 30k ride with me. You’re a wonderful supporter of my channel and I thank you.
Here in the US or the AU, do yall feel like that goodwill and thrift stores are taking the good stuff and selling them on there own. Or the employees or doing so? You see names called goodwill stores names on ebay all the time. Im getting frustrated finding anything good. But i love the books. I hate sc/ Charlotte area!
Okay, my son is a 21-year old and has an Asperger’s Autism disorder from the Philippines; he really sourcing some books and magazines on online platforms when he started before COVID sprung last March 2020, and as of the moment he was very a habit for him; he mainly sourced his items from thrift stores; used bookstores and free library and posted on such platforms (in Southeast Asia they have Lazada or Shopee) if they are on a very profitable and care for some people searching some specific things they buy
What a wonderful trip... Congrats on the shelving units...and...Horus Heresy !!! BINGO...I BOUGHT 36 Warhammer 40k books in New Condition, averaging $55.00 each I sell at least 1 per day. Rumors are that they want to make a Warhammer Movie...They get more Popular each day...Good Luck. Authors Dan Abnett & Graham Neill are two of best, all of the series are Great. Good Luck.
There's a Goodwill here in town. They had this bad habit of printing out listings of items for what they were being sold for on eBay. What they are LISTED for is not what someone is willing to pay for! No one bought those items. They were way overpriced. They are worth what the buyer is willing to pay and not a penny more.
Also, Ebay is all over the world not in your town. The chance of something selling at that price has to have right buyer. Anyway Same thing happened in my area in a shop- not a goodwill- I was like good luck. They are now closed.
When Thom says 20 op shops, ya doing 20 op shops! 😆 I recently visited the Vinnies at Hornsby & the prices were high, but the disappointing thing is the op shops at Asquith used to be really good with very reasonable prices now the Lifeline store is more interested in being trendy & bespoke charging prices to match. I saw an average condition pair of Reeboks for $80, they have lots of stock for a reason. I won't be rushing back. 🙄
That was a great trip - I have managed 11 charity shops in one day. Tech will be proud of you sticking to the higher profit books. I really want an Apple turnover now - good job it is night time and the local bakery is closed.
Awesome video Mel! Thom was smiling quite a bit, i am glad, cause he does have a lovely smile. Anyways, heavenly swifting day, 21?..wow! Glad you walked away from those low end typed books. I wouldn't get in that little boat either, lol 😮.. loved the lunch by the lake. With those sea gulls, its eat at your own risks! 😊 had to say awesome job on the editing and choice of music! blessings!
Love how you show the scenery and interesting buildings. Most of us I’m sure are from all over the world so the food and locations are really enjoyable as much as the thrifting Great job sticking to your baseline, it can be so tempting to get off track!

YES!! THIS! It's hard to not buy those lower end items. It takes a lot of time to hunt for the right things. We shopped all day and walked away from many stores with nothing despite the shelves being full. It feels good, my store has higher quality items being added to it, my ASP is up and sales are increasing as I list the better stuff. It's a good lesson to learn!

Hi Mel, Im a Novacastrian and I loved this vid!! You even showed me a few op shops that I wasnt aware of up here. You need to do more of these 21 op shops in 1 day vids. I loved it!
Another excellent vlog. Tom seems to be mellowing, he actually smiles a couple of times! We went on holiday to a place with 46 charity shops. Op shops are going to price themselves out of business. You’re out there with money to spend and can’t find anything to buy! And if you have little money to spend it’s too expensive.
@@emusaurus I harass savers! I send them photos on Instagram of prices and ask them to explain themselves. Last one was a pair of dirty just worn shorts for $20 (sportscraft). They couldn’t explain themselves, I’m surprised they haven’t blocked me. 😂
Yes, I feel like I now call them a mixture of thrift shops, charity shops and op shops! I never know what word will come out of my mouth when I'm talking about them ha ha ha
Op shops are shooting themselves in the foot by over-pricing. They look at the listing prices, but online sales have thousands of viewers. Sure, if they sell a $20 book, they don't have to handle all the others for the same profit, but one of the goals of thrift stores should be to help the environment with high turnover.
Yes agree, they have an abundance of inventory and they just need to keep turning it over fast. The problem is they now spend 100s of thousands on fancy store fit outs. The newest store here in Canberra must have cost so much money just to set it up. Op shops don’t need to be fancy.
I know it's late to comment on 3 week old post but can you do more vids on pastries? Those "apple turnovers" looked more like apple tacos and im drooling. Lol
I did 21 op shops around Melbourne's Easter suburbs after watching your vlogg there. We hit 97 Garage Sales in a town Garage Sale day in Gippsland on Sunday - lucky we took 2 x cars, books are heavy
It's hit and miss at some while others get put onto our favourites list or a heart ❤️ on Google Maps with some notes as to why we liked that op shop. You could make a vlogg on how to save your favourite op shops onto Google Maps for future reference so as to save time by not going to the overpriced shops
First time watcher here and this was the next reel after I watched the warehouse video. Thought I would keep watching when Newcastle was mentioned. I was blown away when you guys got to The vacant block with the graffiti before store 16. We had a house fire on that block in 2019!! We rarely go into Newcastle now so this was really interesting to see!
Damn girl, I wanted to grab that burger so bad. It looked so good with that tomato. No cheese? Very fun video. I'm dying to see the warehouse, Mel. Why are you hiding it from us?
The burger was so good. It had cheese :) Next video is a warehouse update. I share small clips on instagram as I'm working on it. By 31/12/23 it will be all clear of deathpile.
Great video Mel. I will have to remember the early morning start for the book fair next time. Congratulations on hitting 30K its been really great watching your TH-cam journey - you will have to do a live to celebrate. PS. You have trained your driver quite well 🤣🤣🤣 (sorry Thom )

29:43 that look :D
LOL
Op shops are going to price themselves out of business. You’re out there with money to spend and can’t find anything to buy! And if you have little money to spend it’s too expensive.
Savers be like, "oh look, a used new balance active top with the print coming off. Let's charge 12.99 for it"
@@emusaurus I harass savers! I send them photos on Instagram of prices and ask them to explain themselves. Last one was a pair of dirty just worn shorts for $20 (sportscraft). They couldn’t explain themselves, I’m surprised they haven’t blocked me. 😂
From strength to strength xxx cheri
❤❤❤
♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. Enjoyed it very much ! Can we see what you all picked up ?
Thank you!
In the UK 🇬🇧 we call them charity shops
Yes, I feel like I now call them a mixture of thrift shops, charity shops and op shops! I never know what word will come out of my mouth when I'm talking about them ha ha ha
Hi Mel! I watched the video with Paul & he led me to you ❤️ I loved watching this thrifting haul - you & Tom do so great together! Enjoy 😊
I wasn't gunna subscribe until you pulled up for Fish n Chip's n a Cold 1 to wash it down with, n now......I'm All in!
Oh I do like a cold one ha ha
Wow! Y'all packed a lot into a weekend. Loved the lunch by the water
Op shops don’t need to be fancy.
some of the people in the background though hahahaha
I know it's late to comment on 3 week old post but can you do more vids on pastries? Those "apple turnovers" looked more like apple tacos and im drooling. Lol
Ha ha. Nom nom! Stay tuned for more vlogs!
I did 21 op shops around Melbourne's Easter suburbs after watching your vlogg there.
We hit 97 Garage Sales in a town Garage Sale day in Gippsland on Sunday - lucky we took 2 x cars, books are heavy
Wow!! 97!!! Amazing!!!!
Love that David! How did you go I. Melbourne? I’m keen to come back!
It's hit and miss at some while others get put onto our favourites list or a heart ❤️ on Google Maps with some notes as to why we liked that op shop.
You could make a vlogg on how to save your favourite op shops onto Google Maps for future reference so as to save time by not going to the overpriced shops
We have a thrift store here called Opportunity Village.
I like that name!
Great couple ❤
First time watcher here and this was the next reel after I watched the warehouse video. Thought I would keep watching when Newcastle was mentioned. I was blown away when you guys got to The vacant block with the graffiti before store 16.
We had a house fire on that block in 2019!! We rarely go into Newcastle now so this was really interesting to see!
Oh wow! That’s pretty cool! Welcome to my channel and thanks for watching!
Wow I can’t believe how high books go for there…
Solds? We get good prices as we don’t really compete with Amazon or anyone else here.
Mel... Looking forward to more entertaining Back From Burnout content while I'm on the mend.😊👍🐿
More to come! I need a week to catch up just on editing now!
Fun shopping trip. Thanks for taking us along.
That Apple Turnover looked delish 😋
Damn girl, I wanted to grab that burger so bad. It looked so good with that tomato. No cheese? Very fun video. I'm dying to see the warehouse, Mel. Why are you hiding it from us?
The burger was so good. It had cheese :) Next video is a warehouse update. I share small clips on instagram as I'm working on it. By 31/12/23 it will be all clear of deathpile.
that squid may be that gulls favorite thing too hahahaha the fish and chips looks sooooo good!!
It was delicious! And there is nothing better than eating it by the water with a view!
@@backfromburnout no water or views in Akron Ohio hahaha 🤣
Great video guys. You two look so pretty cosy together. A little tap on Thom's backside 😊😊
Lol he loves it 🤣
Great video Mel. I will have to remember the early morning start for the book fair next time. Congratulations on hitting 30K its been really great watching your TH-cam journey - you will have to do a live to celebrate. PS. You have trained your driver quite well 🤣🤣🤣 (sorry Thom )
Thanks so much! You have been following me a long time and I appreciate the support Dave! I probably am due for a live soon! I will work out when I might be able to do one :)
So I know my opinion doesn’t mean anything but I have to tell you how proud of you I am!!!!!!! I’m a kids clothing reseller so I know how it feels to be berried in a death pile and you are just doing wonderful!!!! 🏆
NAaw thank you so much!!
TechNSports would approve. Very selective. 👍👍👏👏
Hope so!
Did you get through your death pile yet? I’m just getting ready to work my way through mine. 5 buildings full.
I'm working on it all the time. I will have it all done by 31/12/23. That's my cut off date!
34:36 On the shelf to the left there were some vintage horror paperbacks, among them Bad Brains by Kathe Koja, which goes for pretty big money.
Oh damn I missed those! I’ve sold them before also!
Philly philliper send me to watch and subscribe to your channel
Thank you!!! Paul is the best!!!! I have some more vlogs coming with him soon!!
