    This is perhaps the most important part of a curling delivery. While I can only perform the first half of the drill with repeated success, this is the best drill for improving confidence in delivery and balance. Thank you for the wonderful knowledge. Sincerely, Tony King

    You done a very spectacular and informative exhibit demonstrating these lessons. Unfortunately due to my old age and bad knee I need to use a stick. However, fantasy overview. I've watched all lessons and found the tips very useful in each. Best wishes on your continuing success.

    I just learned to curl last night in Rutland Vermont. I'm gonna join the league because it was so much fun. My yoga definitely helps with balance. You are a great teacher and I'm gonna practice your drills.

    Thanks Jamie! As a new curler I have been having trouble with putting too much of my weight onto the rock during my delivery. I am looking forward to trying out your tips tonight to try and improve my balance!

    Saw your play in North Bay this year. Loved that 7 against South Korea and was very sad when you lost in the bronze. Your team is by far my new favorites in Women's Curling. Tucking still > than flat foot though!

    Unlike the way she throws here, I see a lot of amateur curlers throw with their broom dragging right along the ice. Just out of curiosity.. wouldn't that scratch the surface and mess up the playing area? Or is that a total non-factor?

    • @CurlUpWithJamie
      @CurlUpWithJamie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the broom. If its not a smooth surface there is a good chance it could scratch the ice. And you are right, scratches can affect the playing surface. So if they like the stability of having the broom on the ice but don't want to risk scratching the ice they can always use a stabilizer.

    Jamie, what drills can you suggest to get my 14 year old curling son to turn his sliding foot outward? He currently turns it inward. Thanks!

      @weeeddie1945 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toe inwards, is likely to tip you onto your face if anything goes wrong

    Thanks Jamie for the videos, they are really helpful! Still I’d like to ask you a question: as a right-handed person I started to learn curling with my left foot as sliding foot, just as usual. However, I always have the impression that my right foot is more stable, e.g. while ice skating. Should I ever think about switching the side for curling?

    Which foot should be the slidy one and which foot should be the sticky one?

    • @CurlUpWithJamie
      @CurlUpWithJamie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are right handed then your right foot would be the sticky one that pushes out of the hack and your left foot would be the sliding one that lunges forward

  • @zoedoyle9488
    @zoedoyle9488 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question regarding stance in the hack - if both knees are supposed to be along the line of delivery wouldn't the foot in the hack be slightly angled? Have been struggling with this, thank you!

    • @CurlUpWithJamie
      @CurlUpWithJamie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes both knees should be pointed in the direction you want to go...therefore the foot in the hack should also point in the direction you want to go. So your toe doesn't always point straight down the sheet of ice, you should start by pointing your toe to the target broom and then crouching down.

    Hi, I just love to watch your videos but for me, because I speak French, it will be easier if you speak slower.
    Thank you.

    Balance is a problem if you want to use a delivery started back in the slow ice days. See the short blog "We don't have slow ice any more" at curldelivery.blogspot.com

      Unfortunately what you are teaching is illegal and contravenes the Rules of Curling. learn to do it right as Jamie teaches and you will learn the correct way
