    Outstanding! This video is the standard for how all repair videos should be done. Great camera angles and voice-over which eliminates background and wind noise.

    i just did this yesterday on my 02 Tahoe, except I had to do to change out the txv valve on the evaporator coil. I had the refrigerant recovered, but I did not want to disconnect the heater hoses from under the vehicle to pull the hole box, so I pulled the front half of the top and cut the bottom half of the box with a Dremel tool just enough to be able to get wrenches on the txv valve nuts. Once I changed out the valve I taped up the box where I cut it with EPDM tape....sounds bad, but it sealed up really well. I wish I would have seen this video before I did mine I probably would have taken it apart like you did, the whole top half. I had a tough time getting the dampers line back in the holes on the side of the box. Either way it is quite a project. Thanks for posting.

    The original piece had a white block of foam. The replacement piece doesn't have that. I would assume it would be a good idea to remove the foam from the original piece and superglue it to the new piece? I assume it's there for the plastic trim to help support it or maybe to help with noise.

    SUPER VID I have not been able to use my rear ac for YEAR due to it howling and grinding. I watched and changed my rear fan motor, swapped over the cage fan, and re-installed it all in like 15 mins flat. Big like. Note I went too fast taking off the inside plastic shells and split the one running vertically behind the middle seat row. But I'll live to see another junkyard. LOL BIG LIKE..!!, FYI I just changed a compressor kit and I omitted to tackle the TXV that came with it for the rear coil I assume. I'm feeling guilty for not replacing it now cause too late I am not discharging the system again no way. I did not see that in your vid. Was it down in there on the back side of the a/c coil? No biggie just chatting. I also did not realize how hard it is to actually access the rear a/c evap coil.

    Three tips from doing this myself on a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe LT, and perhaps in contradiction to what was expressed on this video:
    1) Pulling the HVAC/ECAS fuse did not initiate the recalibration of the rear controls. However when I pulled the negative of the battery for just a minute, then reconnected, and started the engine, the actuator swept over to match the position called out on the controls within about 20-30 seconds of having started the vehicle.
    2) Before placing the new Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case (GM #88891577) assembly into position, pre-load the three (3) clips along the rear into the lower half section and retain each with a small strip of duct tape. Each clip should then remain locked into the lower half, upright, and at a slightly outward angle. Lower the new upper half into position and mate it with the plastic alignment dowel pins around the base. Then when reaching through the center of the fan area to access the rear area and secure the clips, they will be already located exactly where they need to be and by applying a significant amount of finger pressure, the clip will roll into the upper part of the case right into the nested space.
    3) If you have chosen to replace both actuators while the trim is off (because everything is 20 years old now) I recommend obtaining an OEM actuator GM 89018375. While there are actuators on the market for $90 less than OEM version, the aftermarket case does not sit squarely on the mounts for the blend door. The aftermarket does work well on the mode door though, so if you want to save money, do it on the mode door.

      Mine was blowing just hot air. When I pulled everything apart I realized the blend door was completely broken and stuck on heat. You could also have a bad actuator that operates the blend door. Only way to know is to pull it apart. Definitely reset the system first before you pull anything apart. Sometimes the actuators get stuck and just need to be reset. You can look up videos to reset hvac system for these tahoe/yukons on TH-cam.

      It could be a number of things but I would start by checking the fuses. I believe there is a 30 amp blower motor fuse and a 10 amp hvac fuse to the left of the steering column. If those are good then pull all the hvac fuse and leave out for a minute to reset the system. If this doesn't work it could be the actual blower motor.

    Did you buy your rear blend door actuator from ebay, too ???

    • @T_B_C_L
      @T_B_C_L  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not buy the actuator. I swapped the blend door actuator with the overhead feet actuator as I never switch away from overhead. They are same exact actuator.
      I did not have to loosen any hoses from underneath the vehicle.

      Depends what you interpretation of hit hard is. I've had 4 15s that I would say hit hard. This doesn't hit nothing like that. I would say that it hits hard enough that if it hit any harder I would have to dynamat the whole back to stop all the rattling!

    • @T_B_C_L

      Unfortunately that sounds like the blend door actuator which is on top of the hvac box. I have seen a video where a guy went in through the vent and changed it. Other than that you gotta pull the dash. Same as if you needed to change the heater core or ac condenser! Good luck.

    • @T_B_C_L

      The fan and actuator were not the issue. The issue was the blend door was completely broken and the only way to fix it is to replace the housing!

    • @T_B_C_L
      @T_B_C_L  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to try to reset the actuators before you do anything else. If you have automatic climate control like mine, push the auto button on the climate controls and make sure it says auto at the bottom of the little screen now turn off the vehicle and remove key. Next go under the hood to the fuse box and remove the 10amp fuse that's labeled hvac/ecas. Wait for 1 minute and now reinsert fuse and start vehicle. That's is the reset process. If it at this point the cool air does not come from above vents go to the back where on my video you can estimate where the actuator is. Now have another person change rear temp knob from cold to hot waiting a few seconds in between while you listen closely to see if you can hear the actuator. If it's clicking it has gone past its maximum travel and either broken or stuck. On the rear you have 2 actuators one for cool hot air and one for overhead vents or floor. They are the same exact actuator. If the fan changes from floor to overhead then that actuator works, you could swap the actuators and just leave the setting to overhead and not mess with it. This is what I did fix my initial cool to heat problem. Or just purchase a new actuator to fix the broken one. I hope this makes sense.

    Anyone had a problem with the rear gate not locking? All the doors lock. Just not the rear hatch. Checked the fuses and relays. It is in the rear somewhere. I haven't played around with that box underneath the rear AC yet. Probably in there. That is where the rear brake lights problem was.
