    Best video for this repair!!! No useless chatter from the person doing the work. Clear and straight to the point!

    Yours is one of only two (2) videos I have found that address a broken blend door shaft which requires replacement of the "Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case," GM part number 8889157; it is still readily available as an OEM part from many sources, including of course, GM.

      would you by any chance happen to know how to get that screw out at 3:31?

      @@natedagreat1571I’m going to find out this week. :).
      Another video suggested a 7mm universal joint.

      @@natedagreat1571 ideally a 7mm open end wrench. I used a miniature crescent wrench because that’s all I had and with a good deal of patience got it in. One tip would be to run the screw into the hole before installing the duct in order to create some threads. Then remove the screw, and install the duct. Then the screw will start easier.

      Before installing the new duct, load the three back clips into position on the bottom half and use some good quality duct tape strips to keep them in position. It’s much easier then to reach in with your finger and roll the clip up onto the top half without having to fumble blindly to position them.

    05 Yukon. I'm just going to remove the actuator and drive a screw in there to hold the flapper door open so it will always be warm air for my winters. Since my AC doesn't work anyways and it's a pain in the as to repair.

    Mine did the same thing, but I used JB weld, and it's still holding!

    What are the part numbers? Are they the same two as up front under dash?

    Any ideas as to why only one of the rear AC vents blows air out? I have no air coming out of three rear ac vents, just one. I'd appreciate any thoughts.

    I wish you showed putting in the new case. Did you have to disconnect the A/C? Did you replace the whole box, or just the top half?

    Does freon run to this back part ? I keep losing freon and cant find the leak. It's a super tiny one cause a full charge last about 2 months.

    • @steveloux4709

      Still available as OEM. Would not recommend getting one from the junk yard - it's probably only in marginally better condition than the one you have and ready to fail due to age.

      no - and the lines you saw him move were actually associated with the heater core by the way.

    Sorry to say very misleading video. Why do you need to change the case if just a blend door is broken? Look at the new case. Blend door is not even in it. It's a separate piece. Video is great to show you how to take it apart. Replacing whole case that DOESN'T INCLUDE THE ACTUAL BROKEN BLEND DOOR is wasteful. Just buy the blend door for $10

    • @colt5189
      @colt5189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a part number for the blend door? All I see mentioned is people saying you have to buy the whole case. Thanks.

      I just went to the junkyard and took them out of another yukon and plan to replace them tomorrow

    • @himeedajew
      @himeedajew 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok I take back my comment. You are correct! You need to buy entire EVAP case in order to get that part unless you have a junkyard take the blend doors out for you. I didn't even put back that bottom screw. Pia! And the back clips are a pain also. Thanks for the vid was very helpful.

      I was going to try and replace my actuator this evening but will need my vehicle tmrw. Seeing what is required just to get the cover off I’ll wait until tmrw evening to tackle it. I sure hope I can replace only the actuator and don’t find the same problem you had with the door.
