    Good advice , I’ve had my er5 15 years from new a late C5P model , 37000 miles covered all weathers except snow and ice, very reliable bike , over that time I’ve replaced 2 x fuel taps , 1x Cush drive rubbers , 1 x rectifier 1 set fork seals and 1 set o rings on coolant pipes , original plan was to keep a few years but 15 years on its staying with me , great bikes

      Great to hear of someone else nurturing their bike into old age with new parts instead of just getting rid when parts need replacing!
      They are indeed great bikes! 👍🏻

    I just bought a bike like this and so far, got some work to do. Did a full service but carbs are effed. So waiting for the rebuild kit I bought and replaced the oring on the cooling top. The rear wheel I haven't checked and the petcock has already been serviced and fixed it seems. So thanks for showing all these stuff.

    Thank you for this video!
    I might take a look at one and trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to get one.
    Knowing where what is and what might potentially arrise is nice.
    I heard you have to completely drain the coolant when doing a valve clearance job every 6k km or so which might be a pain, only concern I've found out so far, that and the voltage regulator, rest is easy and common stuff it seems.

    Thanks, really useful this, there's one up for £500 near me with 43k on the clock, it's scruffy looking but the MOT history is virtually clean as a whistle which says something. MOT test I think would pick up worn cush drive rubbers or whatever they're called and I think any tester worth their salt would also pick up fuel in oil. Putting an inline tap after the carb is a great shout given the known petcock issues. All the best...

    NIce and educative information about the "Kamikaze" ER5!
    Thank you for you time and energy spent on these very interesting videos about the ER 5
    That exaust is a must have, very nice!
    Shed of what??? Again?! Maybe you are not proud of your shed, but then i'll tell you I would love to have one shed...and why not...since I am "asking"...filled with all the stuff that's in there, specially the "Kamikaze" and all the wrenches... NIce videos, don't take me serious, I am looking for a commuter bike and a er5 "surfaced" here near where I live...its cheaper than a cb500, but the rear drum brake and the warping problem, and that reserve switch/dial, dont know...maybe Ill get a VFR750F, had one as my first bike back in the day.
    Stay safe and healthy and keep twisting the throttle!

    Hi, i got myself an Er-5, and found out some issues after couple weeks and was wondering if you had any ideas about them since you seem to know this bike really well. Firstly, the steering feels light and handlebars start to wobble if i let go of them. Does the er-5 have issues with the steering head bearing wearing out or could it just be that it needs to be tightened? Wheels are not the issues since i had new ones just put on. Secondly, sometimes when the bike is cold and i try to start it, it feels like it cranks a little then stops. Then i have to let go of the starter button and try couple of times before it starts. Battery and voltage is good, thats all ive checked.
    Thanks and sorry if it's weird asking in old youtube videos for mechanical assistance :D

      Hey! Congrats on the ER5!
      Check the wheel/tyre balance, just because they are new doesn’t mean they are balanced properly. Yes also check and renew the bearings and make sure everything is torqued to spec. It should sit straight and true when you remove your hands from the bars.
      Staring issues could be a bad earth, worn starter bushes, starter relay etc…. Start from the battery, and work down to the starter checked everything methodically and no doubt you will find the issue.
      Good luck 👍🏻

    Hi i enjoyed your video, I've not ridden for 30 years since my vt500 was stolen and im currently looking at one of these, would it be good for a rider with a 30 yr gap?

    How is parts availability on the stuff you listed? Easy to find replacement parts or will it turn into a scavenger hunt if you need any of these?

    • @cjrides.1
      @cjrides.1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Readily available on eBay and Kawasaki original parts website 👍🏻

    Hi, hope you dont mind me asking but i have a major problem, just bought the er5 a few weeks back, been running great after carb clean, yesterday bad rattle , checked the top end, chain etc ok but removed the flywheel casing and have aluminium shavings in there below starter motor chain, cant see anything obvious ie where have the ally bits come from ?? any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks

    • @cjrides.1
      @cjrides.1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tricky one that. If u can’t see anything obvious, maybe drain the oil and see if any metal glitter in it. If there is then it’ll probably need stripping further to find the problem. Sorry I can’t be of any more help. Good luck!

    I did work for a customer who has one in his garage, he said he was selling it with leathers and two helmets for a measly £500, its sat there since being MOT'd and serviced since the beginning of covoid and he will not be using it again, has 20K on the clock. He got the rear cog and chain renewed, just one question is 20K a lot of miles for a bike like this?

    • @cjrides.1
      @cjrides.1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a bargain! So long as it’s been maintained it should be sweet. Mine has no history prior to my ownership and it runs fine (also just over 20k miles)👍🏻
