I had one for years and it was lovely. Nothing wrong with this bike at all. Any bike is as exciting as the rider wants to make it...calling the bike bland is just wrong :) Go and buy one. You wont be dissapointed.
just bought one :) My first bike ever!
How is it
@@Whillz33 sold it last year. Great bike, drives lovely i got rid of it because i had to move and lost my garage space.
There are a couple of really easy things you can do to massively improve the front brakes on these bikes. If you have an earlier A model then putting the brake caliper assembly from a later C model (larger trailing piston) will give it more braking force. Decent brake pads are a good idea. The pistons each house a small plastic wedge which is to prevent brake squeal and they are a contributor to the spongy feeling. If you really want to eliminate spongyness though just change the brake hose from the standard rubber hose to a braided steel brake hose. I've put a Goodridge one on my ER5 and what a difference.
I put a braided hose on a AR125 man years ago. It made a big difference.
I've had this bike for over 5 months now and I can definitely recommend this as a first 'big' bike. It handles very good and it feels like a ybr but just a little bit heavier with a lot more poke :P
"For me, coming from a 636...", well folks, there you have it. Dude just can't review bikes OBJECTIVELY! Of COURSE it's not gonna blow you away like a super-sport bike! It's a COMMUTER! Take it for what it is - it's basic for a reason, it's cheap to run and maintain and doesn't have a whole lot of fancy tech on it, because it's not meant to do that - it's meant to take you from point A to point B, and you can have ton of fun on an old 500.
BTW - likes this one but hates the GS? the GS has a rear disc and a monoshock, this one has twin shocks and a drum break....idk man.
Had one from new. Hated it. Immediately bought a 4 cylinder and let it languish in the garage with 212 miles on the clock thinking I'd sell it. 5 years later, 4 cyl developed a fault. Forced to ride the ER-5 (which I hadn't sold)... in pretty inclement weather. Kept with it and it never let me down in the next 12 years. Now developed a soft spot for this "Ford Fiesta" of the motorbike world. Wouldn't sell it.
Big gripe: having to remove the petrol tank to remove the plugs. One of the more modern developments I despise since looking at the electrodes is a usually a good visual check on engine condition.
Nowt wrong with Ford Fiestas mate. As for the ER 5, often basic is good when it comes to commuting.
You think that's bad, on the Honda Bros 400 you have to take the tank, air filter box, carbs off and radiator dropped to change all the spark plugs.
You don't have to fully remove the tank to get to plugs mate.
That was my first motorcycle ride on that beast^^
Loves the looks of this bike but hates gs500 looks? *shrug* look pretty similar to me. GS looks a little better imo.
They just don't know a shit about bikes.
er5 has a rounder design than gs500, personally i prefer the kawa. if im completely honest though, theyre both ugly
I think they look great!!
No excitement?!? Try riding at 8-9000 rpm on 1st then say that again!
I love mine, first big bike and it does everything I want it to. Slightly lacks power on faster over takes but overall fantastic.
My first bike too.
I just bought one
Anyone can please tell me where to get the crash bars like those? A link to order? Or used ones to sell?
I hate these type of reviewers. They are all used to big bikes that do about 160 - 200 mph and cost shit loads, so they just trash everything else. Saying that I have never rode one.He slagged the GS off and that has got a rear disc and not drum.
love mine (2000) does all i ask of it and cheep to run.
Got one ,love it, the only thing bland here is the presenters.
maybe someone know where can i find full episode?
Professor's bike..
If you stop the video at 3:35, then can anyone tell me which bike is beside to them ??
Its a Suzuki GS 500
@@mackenzie77777 , it was Suzuki gsxF 650 but already sold
What a stupid review!!! He has no idea what he's talking about!! Very unprofessional review!
Iv had over 30 bikes and the er5 is hands down the worst bike iv ever ridden, awful handling and no faster than a 125 two-stroke.... and a rear drum break on a 500cc bike from the early 2000s, what were they thinking . If your considering one of these id advise looking at the gs500 first as its a far superior bike
nice, nice, nice yeah nice, nice, yeah, yeah
This bike is also from a book in the CHERUB series
whats the bike on the left please?
At 1:00, the bike is a Kawasaki GPZ500S. At 2:30, the bike is a crappy Suzuki GS500E.
How do you like this bike and hate the gs500? Blinder. Morons. I ride a gs500 1990 model for ages and its all good.
Here on the kawa u say Nice and easy , on the gs500 u say too easy, nothing on it. Pretty much same bike different logo. Dont get personal preference in ur reviews
That video was. Crap. She was great but he was a lemon. Ps, love the ER5 😁
I want the motorcycle and the blonde lady
I think she s 50 now
@@stannicolae4623 still would
"I want the motorcycle and the blonde lady" Sounds like what schwarzenegger would say, LOL
Opa und Zicke test bikes.....haha.....what`s wrong with you?
"nice looking bike but bland" is that an oxymoron?
Clearly he means the performance is bland ???
Sorry but when you go Kawa you gotta go green! Not red.
Irritating bird
Inni
Yes,and were are not talking about the wildlife.
