One day all of these car companies are going to proud of the fact that every single car on the road is a gray or a white crossover that looks like every other crossover. I can't wait for the new Lancer to be the replacement for the Mirage soon, too.
Then we as enthusiasts will have to be the dolphins of color in a sea of gray.

What major issues do you run into with your eclipse?
@@Scirollo finding one with a body in reasonable condition and finding black interior pieces. I'm currently looking for an OG dash, but I'm guessing I'll have better luck finding a unicorn. Mine has 235k on the dash with the OG motor and trans. I do have the 99 Spyder GS (SOHC 2.4L) and not the GSX. Plenty of torque for daily driving without high insurance premiums or turbo maintenance schedule.

After the 3000GT and 3rd gen Eclipse were done, so was I with Mitsubishi. Even with their new lineup there's nothing I'd buy.
Yeah, I'm saving for a GTO. I'm happy with my 03 Eclipse. I'd like to get a later model like a 98 to replace it, but for now, meh.
The new Mirage is rad though! Still has a 5 speed! And the lil 3 banger takes boost to the face seriously well. Here in Puerto Rico we got a ton of boosted hatchies at 200hp and 200tq out of a lil 1.2L and the thing barely weighs 2000 pounds. They eat almost everything on the road. :)

I knew absolutely nothing about the car scene when I got my 3rd gen and I can 120% understand why people love the 2G way more after having learned so much about the community and all it’s viewpoints and just them main differences between the two cars. However I still love my car. It’s the GTS which is a 5-speed manual and despite not being AWD or turbo (not yet anyway lol I will turbo or supercharge this eventually) the thing actually rips way more than people expect it to, and spinning tires isn’t uncommon for it (which is why it’s main downfall IMO is not being AWD) and the manual is much faster than the auto. At the end of the day the Eclipse is what actually got me into cars and taught me so much about them as well and I’m still learning a lot (mostly because it always needs something repaired hahaha). I know one day when I don’t have this car anymore, I will look back on it and appreciate it for all the knowledge it’s given me about cars and appreciate that I can use that knowledge on my future builds / cars.
I have recently got a 3rd gen from my uncles brother, it had not been working but me and my uncle found out it was just a aftermarket security system. It is a automatic and a Gs but still, I have begun to love the car. It doesn’t look to hot but it’s my first car so I didn’t really expect much, if I didn’t get this I was going to buy a geo prizm. I’ve only drove it once so far but when I can get it registered I have plans on restoring it and hopefully making it last.
Don't Turbo it U need to let the Mivec engine get a lil air b4 U Red line it. the GTS is basically an FTO premium if U know how drive it right. N use Premium gas only. Want a TURBO get a turbo car from factory.
@@RASTALION_rawr Use premium gas N got that the shift-able sport-tronic option on it. Just make sure do tranny fluid changes cos those tranny not cheap. THE stock OEM 2g filters fit the 3g(4 cylinder opnly like ur gs).
@@265308 yeah I didn’t mention it but if I turbo it it probably will only be after I engine swap it, not with the 3.0. Also not sure why you’re mentioning to make sure I only use premium only as if I said somewhere that I you shouldn’t do that (I have never put anything into it before except for premium).
@@kryptonite754 U b surprised how many peo use regular cheap gas. That how got my 2G-B GS-T SPyder cos it was running a lil off cost he cat was using cheap gas as soon bought it put premium gas she was fine. Kinda paranoid put a lil marvel oil at least once a week in all my cars gas tanks.

Mitsubishi has always had a wide variety of vehicles. Wagons hatch's notchbacks. It's a crossover hence the name cross.

If you find a GST or GSX for under $6k and it’s in decent condition without any rust on the frame or strut towers, it’s legit a steal for how much fun they are and the 4g63 platform is so great for pushing a lot of power for fairly cheap. Not to mention that they look pretty damn sick

3g eclipse spyder PROUD owner here, I’ve been working on this thing for a year, and I love it, it’s one of my Daily drivers, work done includes, new battery, new starter, fuel pump, brembo brakes, new tires & wheels, carbon fiber hood with vents, blitz body kit, wide body fenders and skirts, tints, coils, new cpu, back up camera, 7” display, with Bluetooth and Apple car play, a truly wireless charger pad, exhaust, headers, air intake and some engine work and tuning, I put $8k into a car I paid lil under 3k to obtain. I regret nothing

My first tuner was a 1993 Mitsubishi eclipse GS-T
I loved it so much I bought a year newer Spyder.
Then I became a Nissan fanboy and had an S12 240sx and then a 1991 Nissan 300ZX
And the 1993 300ZX you see in the pic.
Eventually the Eclipse drew me back in to Mitsubishi cars, and my current project is a 2011 Eclipse GS that I'm currently in the process of turbocharging.
I'd like to get my hands on a 3000gt, but, like the RX-7, it may be unattainable for me.
The eclipse defined my first steps into the tuner world, and I'm not happy with Mitsubishi's decisions to kill all their sports cars in favor of the "crossover" vehicles that will only be driven by teenage girls, Karens, and people who have lost the will to live

Instead of buying a 30 year old car that has rust and has been owned by 8 people and has 150k miles on it,
You could buy a brand new 2021 dsm gen2 GSX completely manufactured.
Or a MKIV supra, Nissan S13 or 14,
or what have you.

@Shawn Don003 EV cars outperform fossil fuel-only platforms by miles and miles. The only issue is so few companies are building *performance* EV's because there is no market for them.
Look at competitive racing. LeMans Prototypes have been using hybrid power trains for how many years? WRC is adding electric boost motors next season.
Who cares about what's under the hood? Does it go fast? Yes? Good. That's all I care about. Is it better for the environment and keeps the world from being on fire all the time? Even better.

Environment stuff aren’t really valid points when you talk about what car is better like being “ greener “ is just climate propaganda from politicians for votes everyone should know this buy now and “ who cares what’s under the hood “ an actual real car guy would care to be honest and “ does it go fast “ look at all those insecure people who bust their broke asses to get a Tesla just because of the 0-60 times they literally won’t cite any more at the end of the day nothing rivals a V6 or a V8 that can work and enjoy driving because yeah why would you look for more efficiency with EV’s this is not what all of this is about because you’re exercising passion as a car guy don’t look for perfection instead of enjoying your passion I might enjoy a manual AE86 more than I do a Rimac in a straight line because it’s personal preference at the end of the day

Everyone hates the cross but historically Mitsubishi has always had a huge variety of body styles and vehicle types.
Thats The Problem.... Eclipse-Sports Car Coupe, Gone. Evo-Sports Car Sedan, Gone. Pajero-Serious Off-Roader, Gone, FTO-Affordable Sports Car Coupe, Gone, Galant/VR4-Luxurious Sports Car, Gone, 3000GT-AWD Sports Car With Displacement, Gone... This Is Just The 90s... Now?... Outlander-SUV, Eclipse-SUV, Mirage-Hatchback Slightly Smaller Than An SUV... That's It...This Is Their Entire Lineup... It's Not A Variety Anymore. There's No Desire For Brand Loyalty.

My first car was a 01 eclipse 4 cylinder NA auto. The 3rd generation is where it went bad. I now currently have a 1990 Talon which is same thing and I had a 1990 Eclipse a few months ago. Great cars and going up in value. Amazing platform.
Are you crazy, they’re heavy have issues and were okay stock but nothing to brag about. I had a 1997 gst and it was horrible, maybe a gsx was something to talk about since it was a 2 door evo but other wise pretty trash cars. Mitsubishi wasn’t that great and to collaborate with Chrysler???
@@eVerProductions1 all they’re issues were mostly electrical tho, motor wise they were pretty solid cars, don’t know about the 3rd gen with the 4g64 I’ve seen em boosted around here in fl but I never boosted mine (had one as my first car as well) but the 4g63s that were in the 1st and 2nd gen everyone knows is one of the best and strongest 4 cylinders ever made they can handle a lot of power before blowing up....
@@jesusurbina7343 yeah my engine was good but yeah, electrical issues just had me give up. Oh and the weirdest problem the eclipse was known for was a bad weld on the shifter where it would literally break, legit metal shifter break mid shift and your stuck
@@eVerProductions1 oh shit didn’t know bout that shifter one, yea man when I had my 3rd gen I honestly loved it to, was my baby I spent waaayyy more than the car itself was worth 🤣🤣🤣, about 3 bands in 3 months of ownership just for the timing to jump and fuck it up, never went back to Mitsubishi I’m considering getting a 2g tho cause theyve always had a special place in my heart, but other than that never going back again shit really pissed me off, brand new d2 racing coilovers and full magnaflow exhaust, I put about almost of month of use so I didn’t even put 100 miles on the fucking coilovers smh 🤦♂️🤦♂️

In some markets maybe, in western Canada us DSM'er get zero respect. Dsm's are shunned in our neck of the wood for some reason.
If they put the 3.8 Mivec in the 3G from the factory...I think things would have been a whole lot different. That 6G72 engine was a joke!
I've owned x2 1st gen talon tsi, x3 2nd gen eclipse gst/gsx, now currently own a Evo VIII :) love these cars and always will.
Proud owner of a 99 OZ rally edition Eclipse. Although its not the turbo version its still a nostalgic looking ride that gets me from A to B in style 😎
I have one of the last 2nd gens built in March of 1999 known as the 10th anniversary cars. Restored it and it’s daily driven. Love this car so much and son wants it when he starts driving. Enjoyed this episode. Keep up the videos.
Still driving my 06 gt. 180k miles, original engine and transmission. Been a great car and lots of fun.
I had a 94 Eagle Talon back in 1995, no issues except the alternator. Changed timing belt after 100k miles. Ran the piss out of it for 9 years. Loved it

I still have my 95 GS. Love the car, finding a clean one that doesn’t have rusted out strut towers is always a challenge.
I just threw out a set of 2g rust free strut towers because they're impossible to sell in Canada.
Im learning bodywork, if you cant find a good Eclipse then you have to make a good one.
13 years later I still have my first DSM 97 GSX. Be it highly modded now.

I very recently purchased a 2G 4G63T ‘95 Eclipse GST for a very good price. Although the previous owner told me it had a blown head gasket and he called it a “Frankenstein” engine. That was the extent of what the knew about it so It’s a project! Diamond in the rough! The fact this video was posted 6 days ago is perfect! Any tips or tricks are gladly appreciated! I’m currently working on getting to the head gasket itself. But I plan on gutting it (take everything apart). Then proceed to put it all back together and hope that when I turn the key it starts. Thanks!
I’m a self taught “mechanic” I guess you could say. My daily driver is an ‘09 VW CC, which has a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo in it. Stock it made roughly 190HP with about the same amount of torque. I’ve done all the work myself and now it’s making upwards of 240hp and I am still able to drive it daily without a money light! So this project is still very new for me but I’m young, very excited to learn; with a lot of time to spend working on this. Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I had a 96. It wasnt in top shape, and the engine smoked a bit, but it would still do 0-60 in about 6.7 seconds. Of all the cars I've owned, I miss that little car the most.
With very little manufacturer and aftermarket support today... It's pretty hard having a DSM. Most people have moved on to newer and better supported platforms.
There is lots of aftermarket for them performance , Boostin , STM, ect , unless you consider bodykits and taillights aftermarket
How to know if it’s right hand driver or left hand drive by looking the engine only?
I have a 97 eclipse. Love it but hate the common eclipse problems like shitty stalk clutch and pealing airbag cover. But the second gen gsx are badass basically a 2 door evo with smaller turbo

Funny enough me and my coworker were talking about what happened with Mitsubishi as a whole company, one of the big things i found was there 000 strategy around 03, they lost a lot of money and couldnt keep up. Sad cause they had a few jems, the evo the eclipse and the 3000gt 😍

what do you think of the FWD LS4 cars? late year monte carlo SS and grand prix GXP. was also in the impala ss and buick lacrosse super. the bonneville gxp i think had the northstar - no good, but still interesting for the years built in my opinion.

My first car was the 1995 Eclipse GST!! I’m so disappointed with the “new” eclipse crossover.
I own a 2011 4g eclipse gt and its a great car, so underated though. I wish there were more mods you could do with it. It's just begging to be modified

@@robbalinski1606 those are a pain to take care of and it would be a waste just trying to take care of it. The V6 that's in it already is a great engine itself and is underated, now that would be a great all wheel drive conversion
@@justinharris2230 Not really, every engine needs maintenance. when you can do bolts ons for 4k and have a 500+hp engine its a no brainer to ditch the v6. Buddy of mine daily's his 543awhp 2g dsm and has been for 7 year, only break down he's had was a turbo.......amazing what good maintenance can do.

I see some of these cheaper than other cars worse and less expensive than it is, maybe that's just in my country but I hope I get one before it's gone. I remember when miatas were plentiful now I can't find them except a few miatas that was someone else's project car and tricked out selling it for a fortune
