The song was originally written and performed by Simon and Garfunkel. The lyrics describe the disconnection of society and how people don't really listen and communicate with each other. That message resonates even more in today's society because of social media and texting. People have lost touch with each other.

I love seeing you crying. This song has that ability to elicit that response. I'm a 56 year old man , I watch this song every night and have cried happy tears hundreds of times.
It's such a beautiful song, music is minimal but perfect and his voice is like that of an angry angel.

@@themojoslide SOS is my favourite song and has been since my teens. I've listened to it for decades, including having the awesome privilege of seeing/hearing S&G sing this live in concert. I've loved the absolutely beautiful harmonies, but with Disturbed's reiteration I have realised how the folk song genre diluted the power of the message. I've watched/heard DD sing this in different venues many, many times - had visceral responses to the epic vocals and the supremely powerful delivery of the message. But when DD and MK sing together, it seems to become about the singing not the song, with a focus on synchronising. The harmonies are second-class to S&G and *for me* the song suffers. Cheers.

David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He can go from baritone to angelic tenor to grit/rasp and back on a dime. Hard to do... He has amazing range and control. Was VERY hard to hear you Starr Larh....please turn up!

I always felt that S & G’s original version was a warning of things to come but when I heard Disturbed’s version I felt that this was a call to arms, so intense, hits like a punch to the guts!

I’ve heard this song many, many times. I’ve watched many, many reactions to it. This reaction made me truly smile. The lady on the left was just soaking in all the lyrics and at the end of the song that little yell from her was amazing. I cried the first time I heard this song and I am not an emotional person (take my word for it) its an amazing roller coaster ride of pure emotions that were brought from deep inside me I felt totally vulnerable. The original group was gently telling us to stay away from our TV and electronic devices, Many years ago. Disturbed changed the key of the song to a minor key of F that is darker, and they are now screaming at us to hear the original warning.

My child was about 5 years old, we were watching an American classic Shenandoah. It was the end of the movie, and the family was in church when his son comes into the church on crutches. The music is playing the most joyful music because. after 2 years the son is now reunited with a family that lost so much in the civil war. The father had salvaged a son from the carnage. of 4 horrid years. It was a beautiful moment and there was my 5 year old crying. He was obviously deeply touched by the this scene. I asked him why he was crying, and he turned to me and said ,"They wouldn't let the horsies in the church." Music is the only thing I know that can create such emotional responses, as we witnessed from these two.
Some people have a lot of sorrow. Some dont. Some people are very sensitive to it. The people who really feel their sorrow have that sorrow taken from them and fed back to them.
It was beautiful watching the two of you discover this video. It's very intense. I can't listen to Disturbed sing this song without getting emotional.

I have been watching reactions to this for years now. He comes from a long line of Jewish Cantors and is classically trained. He also, out of respect to his grandfather and history has never been tattooed. That is why he has piercings. So they can be removed when around his family. So I admire him for his ability as well as himself as a man.

For a different take, you MUST watch the live version on Conan show. He had just gotten out of the hospital with the flu and had to sit while performing yet I think was best version ever done.

This song was written around the time President Kennedy was assassinated and the Vietnam War. I was 4 years old at the of in 1964. I am 63. It was a warning to humanity. Everyone can have their own interpretation of the words. It could very well have been written today with what's going on in the world. Humanity never listened.
