    • @Sabre2JZ
      @Sabre2JZ ปีที่แล้ว +1

Supposedly Draiman went on Conan to prove that he could sing this without autotune, because some people accused him of not actually hitting the notes and tones naturally, so he wanted to do it live as prove. Unfortunately, he was sick that day also, so the person controlling the audio for the show did lay on a little autotune to clean it up, to the annoyance of Draiman

I'll agree to disagree but still, can appreciate your opinion. I don't think he (or they) holds a candle to the beauty of Simon and Garfunkel's version, and I guess that means a LOT of people will be coming after me pretty soon. Kind of feels though, like I just stuck my hand in a hornets' nest. However, what I see in the comments (here) is a WAVE of people who must have heard this version first, which I think explains why they like this one so much over the original.

@@StevesFunhouse I've got quite a bit of "age" on me and I've heard both versions. I feel like this version moves me in a way the original did not. This version seems to draw out an Emotional Response in most people who sit and listen closely. 🎶

@@SAGE_Dust Well, I did sit and listen, and I guess this man and group are just not my cup of tea. I really don't like this version or this singer's voice, and I don't think he conveys the thought feeling, emotions or provoking delivery that S&G did.
Now, I have to say, I am not as fond of the "acoustic only" or "in the park" versions of the S&G version as I am of the remixed one from the 2nd album (with the amped guitar and drums), but I think all 3 version are better than this one. He definitely has a beautiful voice . I'm not getting what you mean by "simple" less definition on instruments perhaps.
The song's priority is about the lyrics. The lyrics in this song by ordinary standards are complex, and deep. One needs to search between the lines. Music videos are for those who don't have, or no longer have the capability, capacity in using an important human ability, being a visionary/ imagination.
Noah's Arch, would be the symbolism with the boat,. As the song is full of religious innuendo,
It seems to be a pattern for reactors to follow, the marketing of what sells best to their demographic. Or it's the payment format by patrons who choose a request.
One doesn't need to sound aggressive, threatening, or scary to put a message across that is about a dire issue. May I suggest you listen to, or put it up on your channel. I'm sure this specific song I'll recommend, if you have ever heard before , but the artist you have.
Look for it, on TH-cam under:
Tapestry - Don McLean (with Lyrics), click more below.

e definitely has a beautiful voice . I'm not getting what you mean by "simple" less definition non instruments perhaps. The song's priority is about the lyrics. The lyrics in this song by ordinary standards, are complex, and deep. One needs to search between the lines. Music videos are for those who do
Noah's Arch, would be the symbolism with the boat,. As the song is full of religious innuendo.
It seems to be a pattern, for reactors to follow, marketing of what sells best to their demographic. Or it's the payment format by patrons who choose a request.
One doesn't need to sound aggressive, threatening, or scary to put a message across that is about a dire issue. May I suggest you listen to, or put it up on your channel. I'm sure this l specific song I'll recommend you have never heard before , but the artist you have

Don McLean who writes, plays exquisitely. As he does with this song. But the song is a message from long ago to what is taking place in climate disaster, and social degradation, and the greed of human nature. A powerful video with artistic visual connotations for those who relate more to sight, than lyrics. This song makes "Disturb" sound like child play. It's a soft voice with power that will tear down what's wrong with human civilization, as we still hide our heads in the sand. This song, and video is for those who want to accept the truth.and what disaster is ahead.
"The Future, Leonard Cohen ". An artist and visionary, this song is powerful. And "Disturb" or heavy metal is not a requirement. Heavy lyrics, is all it needs.
Your definition of "Disturb" rendition was interesting . I think the video was more about him self , selling his look. But then again I grew up listening to lyrics on my LP, and not the focus of artists face. They did do an excellent version for today's demographics. But then it sounds like recycled history. To walk on coals does not make a man more of a man, but possibly a seeker of notoriety.

Technically it's a powerful rendition but Disturbed's version is...disturbed. I felt the heaviness of the lyrics and this just gave me that feeling of hopelessness. The end where he sounded defiant and urging people to march. Stirring but lacked something to uplift the listener. Sometimes as Andy Williams described S&G " You can't help but be mesmerized by just their voices and a guitar. " While I get some people will get a different experience and love this version. Simon and Garfunkel's Sound of Silence just gives me a sense of hope at the end.

The Disturbed version was sung more in an angrier emotion to the lyrics than Simon & Garfunkel's. They put their own spin on it and I thought it was a good interpretation (still prefer Simon & Garfunkel's original)..

I love this song, both Simon and Garfunkel's version and Disturbed's cover. There is another group that has done a cover of this song and that group is named Pentatonix. You should give Pentatonix "Sound Of Silence" a listen I think that you both would like it. Thank you for this reaction.

Great reaction ladies I love listening to orher people's insight into what they get from the song. This is one of the best covers to date but as Shannon commented you have to watch the live one on the Conan show very powerful and David was very sick and sitting the whole performance and still pull off a performance that in my opinion out did the studio version. I would also love to see you react to The Light and Hold On To Memories also by Disturbed I think you will enjoy those songs. God Bless the both of you and your family 🙏🤙

I wish I could have shared this with my dad. The night before the Vietnam War draft, he told me about going to a midnight meeting at the church at the center of his college campus. All the lights were turned off except the candles, they played this song on the pipe organ, and everyone sang since it was new enough to still be on pop charts. So many more than "10,000 people" went down into silence in the next few years, after that night, and this is the best musical approximation I've heard of the rage we should still feel about that.
I'm glad you get to share this across generations. You're very lucky.

For all us millions of people who were part of that wonderful Simon And Garfunkel period while growing up, this cover helped add emotion to the words that Paul Simon wrote. This cover is so far out of Disturbed normal genre but you have to give David and his group a big, big high five for their arrangement. And as one of those "oldie" guys, I enjoy watching this video over and over again. Again, it just simply added the emotion Paul Simon meant but could not deliver.

So cool to see the reactions - I've probably watched 30 different people reacting to this, and I think this is the first time I've heard the interpretation about the difference between Simon & G's version in terms of it being more of a warning, and the Disturbed version being "it's here". Wow!

    • @phoenix0153

"I've probably watched 30 different people reacting to this" I came down here to say literally this, and then I saw your comment, lol, but you hit the nail on the head. A lot of the others did tend to glaze over Simon and G and focus more on David and Disturbed's version of it, but in their defense, its easy to do with a voice such as his heheh. It really is an awesome experience getting to see so many people see him do this version for the first time. Especially this video. I could tell she was holding back the tears (I always cry if they do/almost do)

Visceral, isn't it? The instrumentals (that drum), the video (brilliant) and that voice! Well, I was kind of wedded to the original .... until I heard this and it's a performance that cannot be ignored. Gets you at all levels. David's delivery of the message was superb.

Disturbed has really pulled this off and turned this song into their own. Even Paul Simon said he was impressed with it and even put it up on his social media and contacted them to give high praise.
If you want to hear another decent cover by Disturbed, first listen to Land Of Confusion by Genesis before listening to their version.

Personally I like covers of songs done by lead singers with powerful voices better than the covers. Such as this rendition of sound of silence, Shinedown's rendition of Simple Man, and I know Johnny Cash doesn't have a powerful voice during the song, but his rendition of hurt is better than NIN's rendition just because of how he sings it and the music video gave me chills when he shuts the piano when he's done singing the song basically the last time before he dies!

Great interpretation of Sound of Silence. The guy has a very deep voice. If you want to review a female with a deep voice checkout Diana Ankudinova and her interpretation of Elvis Presley song "Can't Help Falling in Love". She does some real vocal gymnastics going very low to semi-high notes for a 19 year old girl. She's very popular on TH-cam with 10's of millions of views. She also has a Wikipedia page telling her early life in an Orphanage for abused kids and list of all the cover songs she has performed.
