For most of my 20s and early 30s I lived by this moto, I felt tough thinking I could just walk away, until I found my love, then I was like...oops, not so easy now is it..
I was a 15 year old kid when this masterpiece was released and let me tell you, the 90s were something special and I wish I could go back and re-live them.
I miss the 90s... Money was great , music was awesome and it seemed like no one hated us . most of all , the future looked bright . Thats all gone now .
"All I am...is what I'm after." Michael Mann understands men, and the mutual respect which can exist between combatants. How many writers of today can make the same claim?
Does anyone else not necessarily feel nostalgia while watching this film? Sure, it can serve as a window into the past, but I feel like this movie transcends time periods quite well. I believe the soundtrack contributes to its timeless characteristics.
I admit that I do feel a certain longing to spend time in 1990s Los Angeles when watching this film. Even without evoking 90s nostalgia, I have to be careful because every time I watch it, I have a strong desire to go out to LA. It’s not 1995 anymore, but the 3 times I’ve visited that city, there’s been a palpable atmosphere that I can’t quite articulate. For me, HEAT has very much to do with that.
@@jaymichael4770 Jaymichael, you've given an awesome description that greatly resonates with me. I live in San Francisco, and I have road tripped to Los Angeles 8x in the past 4 years. Almost every time I drive through the city I think of this beautiful film. And on several of those road trips I had the Heat soundtrack with me 🙂 A close friend of mine lives in San Pedro. In the film Neil mentions "Saint Vincent Thomas Bridge," which actually refers to the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro. Every time I drive over that bridge I am tickled cause I think of the film!

Amazing as always, Aliens. How many of the these Heat ambiences have you done?
“There’s a flip side to that coin. Let’s say you do got me boxed in and I gotta put you down. Because no matter what…you will not get in my way. We’ve been face to face yeah…but I will not hesitate, not for a second.”
@@ctshirek 100% worth it and it does not disappoint. NO SPOILERS!! Very dark and I cant wait for the movie version to be released. The book picks up right after the last scene in the movie at the airport then goes into the past with Neil's crew and how they came to be as well as Hanna and his time in Chicago before transferring to LA. I heard they got Adam Driver already casted as a younger Neil McCauley.
We all know what a great action/acting/thriller masterpiece this was. But allot of folks miss sight this is arguably one of the greatest music scores/soundtracks in decades. Back in the day with no internet, it was next to impossible to track them all down as the eventual movie CD soundtrack release actually didn't have every single one of the tracks; for instance one I recall was a William Orbit original song not on the OST CD release. So we are much appreciative for these masterful ambient creations. Cheers @ ALIENWORDS and wish you a million views on this.

"City of lights. In Fiji, they have these iridescent algae...". Absolutely fascinating background context to this quote in the book Heat 2. Curious if Mann already had written the pre-1995 segments before filming, and had discussed this with De Niro. It would make a lot of sense in regards to his performance, and certain scenes, like when he's talking with Eady, but deeply thinking about something, people close to him from the past quite possibly.
