I love that he isn’t trying to beat his ideas into us. He acknowledges how little is actually known as opposed to what scholars claim we know. There are so many questions unanswered and so many people that want to get paid for having the answers they race to put out a theory and claim it as fact.
It's interesting how you have separated this scholar from the group you're calling scholars to support your internal narrative. People are horrifyingly fun 🙃

I am Brazilian, and when I served the army I spent one year in the Amazon rainforest near Colombia and Venezuela. Lots of places with interesting stories about ancient peoples, lots of stones carved in the middle of nowhere… Not once I heard about academics of archeologists going there… My post was near a comunity that had contact with the west only for 80 years… It had an incredible aurea of magic
For sure it did, coco leaf found in Perú and Chile Tobacco in North America Hindu Kush found in Hindu Mountains, anything mild altering substance must've been added to religion or at least the ideas that came out of usage
Interesting that some of the Hindu gods have snakes about the head. Maybe the Meso American god's snakes APPEAR to come OUT OF his head because it's represented as only 2 dimensional. The Hindus were into 3 dimensional statues later on and the snakes (Naga ?) seem to extend from the back of the diety... Snakes...i recall one story the Native Americans have regarding snake beings interacting with the humans...

@@eeayquetting5963 perhaps, or perhaps not. religion implies certain things-but which things? that's part of the debate about the definition of religion in general. it seems he is talking about organized or institutionalized monotheistic religion as the West is familiar (e.g. Judaism, Christianity, Islam).
He literally opens up this clip by describing the lack of religious iconography pre +/- 1800 BCE pre Chavín culture. The iconography seems to be the nexus point of his interpretation

Neitzche figured it out a century ago. Most people just can’t deal with existential dread without faith. Even today we are not as far from the jungle as we’d like to think.
@@makerstudios5456 Nietzsche “figured it out” for himself. The “smarter” you are, the more convincing you become to yourself and to others who fancy well-crafted arguments. But logic is the art of going wrong, with confidence. Intellectuals, like scientists, are as human as we are. Thus, as fallible.

What compels man to act good, for the good of others, what benefit would his primordial ego get from this? Clearly, there is something more, there is a pattern, a driving force behind all existence. There are accounts of God, I have my own experiences of God. I have seen enough to know that all will end as it should, that the forces of the future are more powerful than our wills. I will quote a Sufi Poem by Rumi: ‘Even if you leave in anger for a thousand years, you will come back to me, for I am your goal, and your end’ -God
